Amazing! My wife and I were in town to see family and wanted to go on a nice date while we were here. I don't think we could've chosen a better place.
The atmosphere is really nice; definitely classy, but casual enough that if you packed light for a beach trip and show up with a simple button down and slacks you won't feel underdressed. There was music, but it was just loud enough to hear that it was there — not distracting or uncomfortable in any way.
Our waitress, Taylor, was fantastic! She was very attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations.
The food was excellent! We got the Spicy Crab Salad and Nueske's Bacon as starters, and if those were any indication of the quality of the rest of the appetizers on the menu, we probably could've ordered nothing but appetizers and been perfectly happy. Both were absolutely delicious, and I recommend ordering both and alternating bites of each as the bacon is heavier and the crab salad lighter, offsetting each other beautifully. Not that they don't stand on their own — they certainly do! — but we found they were even more enjoyable when paired this way. Since we got two appetizers, we decided to go lighter with our main course and ordered two sushi rolls, which I didn't realize were even on the menu when I made the reservation; they were very helpfully brought to our attention and recommended by Taylor. We ordered the Dragon Roll and the Spicy Crunch Roll, both of which were phenomenal — easily some of the best sushi either of us have had.
We also ordered four different cocktails: the Smoked Vanilla Old Fashioned, the Fish Whistle, the Pineapple Cilantro Margarita, and the 21 Main Champagne Cocktail. The Old Fashioned was good, and while the presentation was very cool — Taylor lit the smoker right at our table — after the first few sips it was pretty much indistinguishable from any other Old Fashioned. The other three drinks, however, were all outstanding. None were too light on the alcohol, and all the flavors were deftly balanced to achieve delicious results.
Finally we ordered a slice of their homemade turtle cheesecake for desert, and what a perfect ending to our meal it was. Cheesecake is always a bit of a risk after a big meal as it can often be very heavy, and just as often over-sweetened. Thankfully, neither was the case here! It was a perfect cheesecake as far as my wife and I were concerned: a perfect capstone on top of a perfect meal.
Including a tip, our meal was about $250, and we both felt that it was more than worth it. If/when we return to North Myrtle Beach, we will...
Read moreAs a local of Myrtle Beach I’ve been to 21 Main prime steakhouse multiple times and normally it’s a very good outing for dinner. Until last night I decided to celebrate my birthday with my father my best friend and her child and what we received was for this one star review. When we first walked in I didn’t want to sit at the table with the host provided so I asked to switch he definitely gave us attitude and shuffle us along to the end near the curtain for a different table, Which I decided to shrug off and continue about my meal. Our waitress Haley was actually very nice she just wasn’t very good at her job, she was very good at filling waters but spelt a couple of them and should’ve been more attentive we found ourselves stacking our own plates pushing it to the side and then having her come and pick it up in for a upscale restaurant that is not OK definitely should been more attentive to our plates with only a few tables in for dining. Even With that aside, at the end of our meal we decided we wanted our meals boxed she proceeds to box them and then place the box food in the bag and then put it on the floor..... The floor! I had to ask her to just bring a separate chair to put our meal while we finished our wine, even at this point I was very annoyed because of the price point of the restaurant versus the quality of service we had and how attentive they were to our needs did not match. I even decided to try to not write a negative review rather than to call the manager which is what I did earlier today and all the manager did was say “oh I’ll have a talk with my team thanks for calling in for the feedback“. While I expressed to him it was my birthday and that I was very unsatisfied with the service and even the quality of the meal that I had he offered nothing in return not even a 10% off coupon for the next time if I decide to visit, I wasn’t really looking for anything but after that disgusting taste they left in my mouth with the service and everything and after calling about it it was terrible. I am in the service industry as well or are used to be and I’ve never tipped below 20% last night I did I’ve never really left a negative review like this today I am, that is how much they care about your needs at 21 Main. If you made it this far into this review I would recommend taking your business somewhere else, like a Ruth’s Chris steak House, New York prime, Bistro 90 or literally anything else. will not...
Read moreA group of 6 of us went to 21 main last week to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by two smiling hosts who genuinely looked like they were excited for us to celebrate. This alone was a pleasant surprise for me because I’ve been to far too many restaurants where it seems like the hosts couldn’t care less about my dining experience. 21 main’s hosts are not only extremely professional, but also a warm welcome to a celebratory evening.
We were seated at our table and our server, Delaina, she introduced herself, and then immediately wished my girlfriend a happy birthday. Delaina gave us recommendations on different drinks, sushi rolls, and desserts. I can confidently say that having Delaina as our server made our night significantly better.
As far as the food goes, everyone at the table ordered steak. And we all were in agreement that it was cooked, seasoned, and served to perfection. We ordered a few appetizers, but the dragon sushi roll was definitely a fan favorite. I had heard rumors that the sushi chef here was good, but that roll genuinely blew me away.
Desert was the cheesecake and the crème brûlée. Both were incredible. We also got the brownie sundae, such a simple desert, yet done so well that I was tempted to order one to take home. The crème brûlée even had a special presentation for my girlfriend’s birthday, which made it so special for her. Not the mention that the handwriting on the plate was beautiful, I’m surprised whoever did it isn’t pursuing a career in calligraphy.
After trying ~100 restaurants in the North Myrtle Beach area, few have made the list of places I recommend, 21 Main at North Beach is the newest addition to this exclusive list. Thank you to all the staff for making this night so incredibly...
