I frequent Hilton properties around the world- heres my take of this one. We were assigned room 527 which was an oceanview room with a king bed and a queen bed. This room is quite worn down, has black mold/black mold like staining on the bathroom ceiling. I booked this room for 2 nights using a points redemption and free night reward with a lowly silver status account-I expected to get assigned a junk room on the 5th floor since we didn’t book using my husbands diamond status account. As a tip I would say if you want an ocean view some select a room below the 5th floor otherwise trees will likely obstruct your room. I wanted to go to the front desk to express my frustrations (about the mold as well as the leaking fridge in the room) but the line had about 20 people in it at 4 pm. Thank heavens for digital key. The ocean view rooms do have a “side view” of the beach but honestly it’s an ok view. I’ll include a view of this hotel from the beach and you’ll note the ocean front rooms don’t even completely face the ocean straight on. The balcony had 2 chairs and a small table and plenty of space. I felt the AC left much to be desired at night, just didn’t seem to cut on and keep the room cool. I wonder if they have the older style thermostat that needs motion to turn on. This property is a part of the Hilton family so you’ll have access to the embassy suites very nearby with wristbands (much nicer pool and “waterpark” areas) you can walk there via wooden boardwalk 15 mins or wait for their shuttle van. This shuttle van is good in theory but does not run on a schedule and often times is full when it shows up or if other people rush on before you. The shuttle can also take you to an indoor pool and splash pad we wanted to take advantage of due to the weather but we didn’t stay as the chlorine was overpowering. This location does have breakfast in the morning, I would consider it average at best when it comes to breakfast at a Hilton in the United States. The buffet is $25, overpriced for what you’re getting. We decided to order from the menu. I’ll include photos of it. Service was spotty, perhaps low staff due to the storm the previous day. I believe this hotel itself has 2 pools. They were dirty and we didn’t get in, partially because they weren’t clean but also because they were mostly closed while we were there. I thought it was odd they kept closing to pool when the embassy suites pools were kept open. We would have used the pools at the embassy suites more but there’s a lot of chairs held by random towels all day long. Beach access is the reason why I like staying in this area. We traveled with older people that need an easy walk onto the beach. A lifeguard is posted right nearby during the day and person for the sale of beach chairs is right there as well. Get there at 9 and you’ll have no issue renting 2 chairs and an umbrella that day. We got drinks and lunch at the wet whistle one day. Drinks were terrible but the food was actually pretty good. There’s a small shop in the lobby you can pick up beach essentials as well as Starbucks. I thought it was funny the card reader asked for a tip for a $6 shovel I was buying for my son. To be honest, I wouldn’t say I was let down because my expectations were low for this hotel. Only reason I stayed here is because the Embassy Suites nearby was booked for the 4th and I was traveling with extended family that was too cheap to book the Embassy anyway (the embassy suites is more expensive, but overall a better experience with better amenities-we typically go every summer). I think the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort would do well to clean up their mold issues, I’ve seen this reported in other reviews as well. I know these hotels along the beach are old, but some new paint here or there would do wonders at this property along with regular maintenance. Hopefully they look into the leaking fridge in 527 (yes, I reported it) and it doesn’t cause any further damage.

This was the WORST "resort" that I've ever stayed at! My family and I stayed here under a package through Time Share. So glad we did. There is no way we would've stayed here for the regular price. Absolute disaster from the moment we checked in! The lady at the front desk was as helpful as a brick. My husband checked in I had to go back and ask about parking. She just gave him a pass with out explanation. He was so frustrated at her he forgot to ask. When I went back in she immediately got and attitude! I asked very kindly - my husband just checked in here, where do we park? Her response -I don't know because I don't even know were you are staying. It took everything in me not to respond at her level but I didn't have the time or energy to waste. I just wanted to get in the room and relax. So we gather our things and played find our room. She didn't even tell my husband were the room was located. Our son figured it out, we had to go through a door and walk to it. Room 833, was terrible!! We only had 3 towels and 2 rags. We're a family of four. So once again we had to go to the front desk! We asked for more 4 towels and 4 rags and were told oh I can do better than that, how about a fill set but of 8. Back at the room while we tried to stay calm so we decided to step out on the balcony. There was a dental pick and 2 chairs that looked as if they were just thrown up there and landed however and whereever. When housekeeping came she brought up towels in a clear trash bag. We went out for a few hours and came back to shower one of the original towels had rust stains on it but we just folded it and used to step on when getting out of the rundown shower. At that point I was over everything and thought a nice hot shower will make things better! Was I wrong! The water would not get warm. So we all had to take not even luke warm showers. Then the cherry on top was no heat. The thermostat would not go higher that 75° F! So yeah we basically shivered all night. Why didn't we ask to be moved? We all agreed we may get a worse room. The only thing s that worked consistently were 3 outlets, the lights and the tv. We went out and tried to enjoy our time. We got back to the room and discovered that housekeeping came. They had emptied the trash, took the bag of towels and rags but left the dirty towels and the rags we used in the shower. Beds were untouched. Then had the audacity to leave 2 new towels and one new rag on the little counter top area. I had high hopes that the water would be warmer when we showered -WRONG!! Then had even higher hopes that the heat would actually work! Survey says that was a lie! I called to get more towels, again the garbage of towels was brought up. That night was colder than the night before. In the morning we hid our bag of towels in the closet and went out to enjoy our day. The final night we let the water run for 4 hours before attempting to shower. Surprise, surprise it was warm!! So after each person showered we just left it running. The heat did not get the memo. The Time Share mandatory meeting was terrible as well. I asked why would the put families in a place like that then show off lovely rooms? It was really a slap in the face! I was told oh those places are the hotel resorts. Huh? Either way my response was the experience is absolutely terrible, it was so bad that I may never stay another Hilton brand again.. except Embassy Suites. The female time share pusher responded -I'm glad you spoke up that is why the other resort, the Double Tree is working now to turn things around there. Shocker, it is worse?! Also, be aware the photos that are shown are not even photos of the resort. Maybe 8 of them are, the others of the "resort" are not at all! The best things about this place was the location, the balcony view and the Starbucks in the lobby! Only stay here if you do the package because the Double Tree Resort is rated worse. If you are not in Myrtle Beach on a Time Share package don't even consider this place EVER! Our dissatisfaction was made known and parking...

We stayed 7/20-7/25 and had a great time!

First of all, Arthur at the valet/front entrance is the kindest man ever! Such a welcoming spirit and just made you feel right at home! Grateful to have met him!

Upon arrival, there was a large conference checking in and the lines were very long. We have been with a group like that in the past, and we totally understand the amount of time it takes to check in over 300 guests. Thankfully, I am a Hilton Honors member and had a digital key on my phone. We took all of our things up to our room and settled in. Once the lines died down, I went down to the desk to get our parking pass, wristbands, and additional keys. No issues whatsoever! Lobby is very nice and renovated. Do not use the restrooms on the main floor to the right of the entrance walking in. Just go straight up the stairs or take the elevator to the second floor and use the restrooms next to Cafe Amalfi. Much much better!

Our room was nice. Balcony had a partial view of the ocean. Our room was clean, but not spotless. Not as bad as I expected from reviews written. Yes, the bathrooms are small and it does make it difficult for more than one person to be in there at a time. Here’s the deal - this hotel was renovated, but there isn’t anything they can do about the size of the bathrooms without tearing down the entire hotel! We were rarely in our room as we were out enjoying the beach and the city! The AC worked very well! Yes, there is humidity, but seriously it’s South Carolina and you are on the ocean!

Speaking of the ocean…how amazing and beautiful! The Hilton is located in an amazing area! Beach is beautiful and there is a life guard stand and guard present there on the beach. Nothing more comforting with having kids than having a lifeguard near by. If people went out too far or when the tide was coming in, he would blow his whistle and bring them in. I had a very nice conversation with him and he does a great job! Kids had a great time boogie boarding! We rented chairs and an umbrella on the beach right in front of the hotel. It is separate service from the hotel. It was $50 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. If you rent consecutive days, it is $30 a day to follow. They open at 9 am and leave chairs up until 4 pm.

Staff at the Wet Whistle were great! Pools were pools! They did a nice job of keeping them clean despite fighting the sand brought up from the beach.

You can use facilities at the Embassy as well! Such a great bonus! They have a waterpark that the kids enjoyed! There is a boardwalk you can take if you didn’t want to walk on the beach. It is a safe area, so we appreciated the ability to walk around.

Sofia in the Cafe in the morning and down at the pool in the afternoon was one of the sweetest people we met. She is from Ukraine and working for the summer here in the US. We were asking about home and her life, and she openly shared things with us. There were points I had tears in my eyes hearing her story. She has a beautiful heart and my 12 year old and myself loved getting to know her! She is super special!

I really encourage people to please remember these staff members are humans and all have a story. There may be more to their story than what meets the eye. Be KIND and get to know these people. Don’t walk around entitled and treat people disrespectfully. Pick up your garbage on the beach and around the pool deck. Don’t leave your pool towels lying in the lobby or in other areas. Walk them to the bin! It is just so sad to see people disrespect the property and the people in those ways! Please do your part!

All in all, we had a great time with lots of memories...
