My preference would be giving this restaurant zero stars!
Let me start by saying, I’ve been to very expensive restaurants and I’ve been to very cheap restaurants (and everything in between). This restaurant, moderately priced however NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Using my OpenTable app, I made a reservation for my family and I for 7:45pm on a Sunday night. We arrived a bit earlier and was hoping to get a table. The hostess, who was very pleasant, told us she’d try to get us in as soon as possible (with an ocean view) and that there were a couple parties ahead of me. No big deal, we sat and ordered drinks to pass the time. We were no seated until 7:30 and we did get a partial ocean view. We were kinda bummed we couldn’t be seated sooner because we saw a party of three come in after us but was seated before us. No big deal, we were hungry! As we were being seated we were finally able to see more of the restaurant, there were 5 tables this particular Sunday evening. Why the heck were we not able to be seated right away? There were 2, unused, full ocean view tables available! We figured, whatever, we’re here, let’s eat! Our waiter did NOT come over to our table for at least 20 minutes!! By the time he came over we were able to figure out our entire order! Drinks, appetizers, and entree’s. We decided we’d just go ahead and order all at once, we were hungry and had been waiting now for about 50 minutes!! The restaurant was practically empty and we had been waiting 50 FREAKIN MINUTES!!!!!! What.......
Our waiter, Anthony, was clearly having the worst day of his life. He had such a bad attitude. Rolled his eyes several times as if he was fed up with us. How outrageous. I would never have expected to experience this type of behavior from a Hilton brand. I’m an owner with Hilton and this experience made me want to sell my property, immediately! I digress....
Finally, after about an hour, one of our two appetizers showed up. We ordered the calamari and fried green tomatoes. The calamari arrived first. It was, as my 16 year old cousin so eloquently put it, “just gross”. The calamari, or should I say, the plate of batter, not only was it cooked way too long but it also contained NO CALAMARI. We ended up sending it back, my uncle kindly told them “ I’m sorry sir, this is not what we ordered, this is not calamari”. Anthony, our waiter, snatched the plate off the table, rolled his eyes, and LOUDLY told his manager “these people said this ain’t calamari”. We could hear him speaking to his manager from our table. It was the most unprofessional act in the hospitality industry that I’ve ever experienced.
Fast forward to 9:30 and we still haven’t gotten our meal. We have now been waiting for about a good 2 hours, at a Hilton restaurant, with a total of about 5 tables. I’m appalled and embarrassed at this point. Hilton, you need to do better. This is unacceptable.
My family and I left Cafe Amalfi at 9:30pm with NO DINNER. We were never served. The manager cracked some idiotic jokes and told us “I’ll take care of dessert, or something”. We paid for our ONE appetizer and left. We will NEVER visit this place again and I sure hope after you’ve read this review you’ll do what I should’ve done...
Read moreI know there are may circumstances that effect anyone's experience , and that just about any dining experience there is always something that isn't perfect- that is life as we know it. However when each thing that isn't right or isn't necessarily small and or the amount things add up to more than just one or two or three its time for a walk out. First thing we got there early and checked at the hostess to which was not friendly at all, even looked like she wasn't feeling well , we got a drink at the bar to which the bartender was coughing the entire time while making my drink , at least i was thinking the bourbon would kill anything that could contaminate the drink. We were sitting in the bar area lounge and waiting and freezing we kept our coats and hats on , after asking about the heat they indicated it the heat was on but we felt noooo heat.
at 5pm promptly we were seated by the window for the great ocean view .. yes we were still very cold and asked again about the heat with no avail even watching the staff warm their hands under the food warming lights I was very tempted to join them as the warming lights looked very inviting.
The waiter was nice but his cologne was so powerful the smell encompassed our table and lingered so that our food and items at the table smelled and tasted of cologne, i can still smell it a day later.. ugh .. headache is coming.

We got the hot soup to warm us up but it was only hot in certain portions of the bowl not all was hot prob the typical microwave inconsistencies. We took a few minutes to order and make up our mind but had to flag him down to finally order the entree's when it came to exactly 6PM after exactly one hour of being seated freezing with cologne and no entree's yet it was time to pack it in go home take some ibuprofen eat some hot oatmeal and go to bed
its a shame our date day / night turned out this way we really wanted to try a new place
its also a shame that we have become so casual for these staffers to dress in jeans and sweats and could care less about being professional courteous friendly...

Ahhhmazing food! Thank you! Thank you for talking with us and being so friendly! Our server Cem treated us like family and welcomed us every time he saw us and gave us a discount without us even asking. I gave him a hug for this! He told us about his college and exchange program and we felt like he was family! The restaurant is beautiful and sitting next to the ocean eating mouthwatering food was the best experience! We can't thank you enough! We wish you both the best of luck always,
We also want to add Ty our hostess and Donavan our server to our list for Dinner service! Outstanding service and they both went out of thir way to be friendly and helpful. Donavan helped me 2 nights in a row taking time to explain to me about swordfish (I've never eaten it) and then helping me get honey for my hot tea. Thank you to these amazing staff members who truly love their jobs and helping others and it shows! Thank you all. We will be back because of these amazing...
