What was supposed to be a nice Memorial Day weekend with my friends and our sons quickly turned into a disaster when we opened the door to our room at the American hotel. My son had put his small suitcase near the big window and within minutes, it accidentally tipped over, causing the window to completely shatter. My son’s friend, who was near the window at the time, was cut with a piece of glass above his eye, and he was immediately taken to an urgent care where he required ten stitches. When we returned back to the hotel, our room was boarded up and we were told to vacate the premises immediately. The owner of the hotel did not want to talk to us, and because we had no place to stay, we had to cut our vacation short and go home. The manger on duty claimed the boys had been rough housing, which is untrue given we just got to our room. The window in no way should of shattered, but since it was most likely installed improperly, it had. But what really has me outraged how was the owner had no compassion for my friend’s son as she did not even ask how he was doing. Thankfully he did not lose his eye! She could of been sued but my friend chose not to. All she was worried about was losing revenue for not being able to rent out that room for a week. We lost all the money that we had paid for the room and she would not reimburse us. The bottom line is, the staff was incredibly rude, not compassionate, and unprofessional. I would never recommend the...
Read moreWe just returned from Our wildwood trip and over all we really enjoyed American inn. We had 2 rooms; one with kitchenette, sofa bed and two double beds in the back room. The other room was a kitchenette with two double beds. We were told at booking that the rooms were breezeway rooms but the second floor room (211) was great! If you looked out the big Window you Could easily See the ocean, such a beautiful view. The pool was heated and really nice in size. We also loved the short walk to the beach, playground was a block away as well as the start of the boardwalk which was great for our family with young kids. The only issue we had was the smoking. I knew signing in no smoking in the rooms and I guess I assumed no smoking on the property at all. However, people were smoking their cigarettes everywhere and there was ashtrays everywhere. One person in our party has bad asthma and I have young kids both of which I don’t want exposed to the second hand smoke. Over all a nice, clean and Wel kept place but due to the cig smoke we will not return. Also rumor has it they are turning it...
Read moreI have been staying at this motel since 2009. I have a family of 5, so I always rent the family suite Room A with ocean view. This year I had a very unpleasant experience. My room for the first time was located right in front of the SUNDECK. Oh dear, big mistake!!! There is a big sign that states closing hours for this section is at 11:00 pm. On Friday night we couldn't get any sleep. We had drunk people partying around, making jokes, playing loud music, couples fighting etc right at the sundeck, I'm talking about older people, not teens. There is no staff overnight to enforce the rules. The next morning I complained and request to at least have the table with seats that was place right in front of my door to be moved a little away from it. Nobody cared, nothing was done. Also the air conditioner only works in the room and at night when the room door needs to stay closed for privacy, the livingroom will get so hot. If you decide to stay here, request ypur room away from overnight party zone (sundeck). Also, bring a...
