Posting this publicly since owner chose not to respond to our email, nor did she call to attempt a conversation about our stay.
Good afternoon, my family stayed at your property during July 1-4th, in suite 18. I would like to first state that we are returning patrons who recommended your property to many folks coming your way, and truly enjoyed our first stay with your property in 2018.
While we did enjoy our stay we have a few concerns we choose to email rather than handle in person due to the communication received during our stay.
First, your website states very clearly that friends/family of guests are welcome, with an additional fee; we were visiting from out of state to visit local family. The gentleman, assuming he is the husband of the owner, kicked our family off the premises without conversation about any fee to visit. He was very rude to our family members and due to this we didn’t get to spend time with our family during our stay. Second, we continued to come across items in our suite during our stay; a pair of ladies glasses, a light-up ball, an empty mondo bottle, coins and hair ties. Third, when I booked our stay, directly with the motel, I provided that we may have an additional person checking in with us; at the time of booking schedules were unclear; we were told this could be handled at check-in. At check-in we were not questioned on a headcount, even though three adults were present at check-in with mention of other members in the car, rather the first evening, hours into our stay, the gentleman I previously spoke of, told us we were breaking occupancy rules. When we booked we informed that it would be four adults and two young children, both under the age of 4, and he immediately charged the card on file a ridiculous fee for TWO additional persons.
The fee we paid to stay in your motel was absurd since we dealt with leaking water faucets, clogged shower drains, dirty dishes, torn, peeling and dirty furniture, no cooking tools for the grill nor a way to light the same, unclean living space with property left in many areas, one rude owner, and when it rained the top floor became stinky and slippery because the roof leaked missing the gutters and soaked both landings; my three year old fell hurting her bum and finger while the cleaning lady mopped the main concrete level with no warning signs of doing so, and making the areas very dangerous to pass. We were told the pool was open while manager was on site, we witnessed the owner(s) coming in and out of a suite all hours of the day and evening and so we assumed they lived on-site, however we were also harassed for use of the pool, late in the evening (8 and 8:30pm)and early in the morning (8:30??). Also, when we first checked in the gentleman gave us keys to access the suite for an urgent need for the bathroom of one of our littles, and we were given keys to an occupied room. Thankfully the occupants were not inside however it was brought to the attention of those occupants on day two by that gentleman whom checked us in, apologies were passed and future friendships developed, so no true concern on...

I didn't expect the Ritz staying in Wildwood but since this hotel had high stars and good reviews on here I booked it online for Labor Day weekend. That being said - we checked in on a Friday night to our 2 bedroom room. It was really gross. The rug throughout was wet with a smell (we were told they are near the ocean, but I've stayed near the ocean many times) with a piece of it just randomly cut out and then pieced back in. The sofa bed was stained beyond belief and when I unfolded it was rusty. So the clean sheets on it had rust marks on them. The bathroom shower knobs barely worked and the bathroom had damage to the walls and, what looked like, sand painted into the floor trim from over the years. The worst part was on the wall next to the toilet there looked to be blood on the walls. The 2 bedrooms were not real bedrooms as they must have been created at a later date and had no HVAC vents or window air conditioning. So you would need to run the air or heat very high in the main area and leave the door open to hope it would come inside. The one thing I will say is the two beds in the rooms were newer and very comfortable, but there was not a blanket on either of them - just sheets. We paid an extra $20 per night because there were 5 of us (so they knew there were 5) and yet they left two blankets in the closet and 4 bath towels. It was an uncomfortable night of sleep. The next day we got our money back and went down the street to a better hotel.
Maybe there are better rooms as there are may positive reviews on here. It was also super high per night price (I guess because it was considered 2 bedrooms) If it had been a reasonable price the condition wouldn't have been so shocking. I am really surprised in these COVID times that Wildwood allows motels to operate this way. It was clear much of this room hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
The owner did state that they are having a major renovation soon and it will be beautiful. I hope this is true because, as stated above, they were very nice people. But this place should be condemned. It would help their reputation if they just closed, renovated and then opened so that people weren't staying in...
