Honestly disappointed. I've been to a few dog beaches and was expecting the same experience; tons of dogs, running around with each other, splashing in the water, surrounded by nothing but dog lovers. For one, the section of beach designated for dogs was about a 3 minute walk in length. Next, there were way more dog-less people than people with dogs. This is probably due to the fact that sitting on the beach with your dog (or dog's, in my case) tethered to you isn't necessarily a pleasant experience. On this beach, your dog MUST stay leashed. I'm not sure how a dog is supposed to play with another dog if they're getting all tangled up. It didn't work out for us. Buddy and Ellie. Got to lay on the beach, not play on the beach. This isn't even touching on the experience of getting to the actual beach. I'm from out of state. From the hotel I'm staying at, I typed "dog beach near me" into google. This was the closest one. My girlfriend and I loaded up the car with beach stuff and the doggo's. From the car, there is absolutely no signage explaining where the dog friendly section of the beach is. There are, however, signs saying "ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ON THE BOARDWALK". We decided to break that rule and see if we saw anything. On the other side of the boardwalk, we saw the pictured dog park (not the same as a dog beach even though the park is in the sand). As it turns out, you're supposed to walk under the boardwalk to get to the park. A sign would have been nice. This is a tourist destination, right? We spent at least 5 minutes watching to see if we saw anyone with dogs heading to the shore (which is a pretty decent distance from the boardwalk). We didn't but decided to lug our stuff and dogs down to check. Once again, a sign would have been nice. We got to the dog beach, set up with tethered dogs, and sat out for about an hour before deciding that this experience was too unpleasant. Took the dogs back to the room and stopped at Longport dog beach on the way home to give them their fill of running around. If you're into laying on the beach with your dog tied to you, this is your place. Personally, I've watched enough episodes of Caesar Millan and read enough books on dog behavior to know that dogs are more likely to act aggressively towards other dogs when leashed. This beach feels like a recipe for...
Read moreThis was the perfect place for my pup. Most of the beaches I researched don't allow dogs during summer months. I chose this one specifically because it has a designated dog-friendly section. We enjoyed going earlier in the morning (9-11am-ish) and later in the day (4-7pm-ish) when it was less crowded. The beach became noticeably busier around 11:30, but the midday heat was too much for my older dog anyway so that was the perfect time for us to take a break. On the days we were there, the other owners were all good about keeping their dogs leashed and at a respectful distance to prevent issues. My dog also enjoyed going off leash a bit in the fenced in dog park. If I could make one request, it would be for showers or some kind of clean water access near the entrance to this area from the street to avoid taking so much sand home, but there is no charge for admission and the place is great so we were happy. At the times we were there, we ended up finding very convenient street parking for about $4-5 for a...
Read moreAmazing, Stunning and absolutely fun! My family and I went out and visited Wildwood Dog Park and Beach to go for a swim and was not disappointed.
First off the difference between Wildwood and Seaside is night and day. Super clean, incredible view and loads of stuff to do.
The Atlantic was in full form as it was beating us up while we went for a swim, nice and chilly but fantastic on a hot day.
Vendors will come out to sell ice cream and various frozen goods while you enjoy the sun and beach.
What was neat to see was the artistic work some families and various locals were putting into sand castle creations. Simply unbelievable the detail some of these people put into their creations.
Parking was super cheap and aside from the beach, if your tires of swimming, you can always hit the super loaded boardwalk which has loads of vendors to visit and a smattering of food to choose...
