I was called in several times by the lifeguards when I was only in waist deep water. They told me that Wildwood is “not a swimming beach“ and that bathers were not allowed to go beyond waist deep water. I am a swimmer. I grew up on Long Island and I’ve been to beaches all over the entire East Coast and all over the world really. I have never encountered more restrictive ordinances or aggressive lifeguards anywhere. I was literally standing in waist deep water arguing with them and they were threatening to call the police and have me cited and kicked off the beach. So crazy.
