tl;dr: gross room, sad breakfast, AVOID Avoid at all costs. We didn’t believe the other online reviews and made the mistake of staying here for a few nights during our trip to Cedar Point. Right off the bat, the lobby smells like cigarettes. The breakfast area is just beside the lobby and the breakfast was pitiful. All that was there was cold coffee -the lobby attendant suggested we microwave it-, broken juice machines, unripe fruit, two kinds of cereal, and a box of pop-tarts. Didn’t take us long to decide to go to Dunkin’ across the street. There is a pool, but it was filthy. There was mud at the bottom and newspapers floating in it. There’s no telling when it was last cleaned. Our room only made things worse. We reserved a king room weeks in advance, but they gave us a room with two double beds. Their excuse is that the system “doesn’t work”. The sheets on the beds had visible stains and cigarette burns. The towels and face clothes also had stains. It was as if the linens hadn’t been washed in between guests. The room came with two-in-one shampoo. If your hair is anything like mine, it’ll only leave you feeling gross. It also doesn’t have a coffee maker or iron/ironing board. And don’t count on the safe - ours was locked shut, never to be opened again. Worst part of the stay was discovering that the fridge wasn’t plugged in when we got there, so when we opened it, water poured out onto the carpet. We used a bathroom towel to sop up the water, and it came up brown. It wasn’t the water that was brown - it was the carpet! To be fair to the lobby attendant, he did match the discounted price we had in our confirmation email despite the system spitting out a different number. We didn’t expect a 5-star experience, but this hotel made us contemplate sleeping in the car. If you have ANY other options, avoid this place.

Horrible. Found bugs in the room and got laughed at and was told it didn’t come from the room. Why would I plant bugs in a hotel at 1am?? The employee refused to give us a different room since we were uncomfortable finding what looked 100% like a bed bug and then declined to refund. She then said she was calling the police because I said I would be leaving a review with the pictures of the bug. When the police arrived they agreed it looked like a bed bug AND told me they have had issues with this same location because the manager refused to refund people who had a negative experience. Unbelievable experience. Calling the police because someone is going to leave a review because you have poor customer service, completely out of hand, and could have put my life in danger. I will be looking into all legal avenues of how to process this and get my money refunded as well as additional expenses incurred. A police report has also been filed with all information pertaining to this, along with the photos and videos I have of the lady laughing at me instead of helping. Also the room DID NOT look like the picture. Was supposed to be hardwood flooring but it was dingy carpet instead. Attaching my confirmation email as I mistakenly didn’t read the reviews before booking and see that other guests had this same experience of being refused a refund after finding bugs and the owner claiming they can’t be found in the system.

If you want the following for your room, this is the place to stay: -A keycard reader that usually won't read your room key. -Staff that is friendly but will ask you for tips even if they aren't doing anything. -Beat up furniture that looks old enough to run for president. -A floor which is visibly warped, cracked in spots, and/or noticeably sinks when anyone steps on it. -Beds with comforters covered in mystery stains and cigarette burns and sheets haphazardly patched together. -Pillows with so much sweat soaked into them they give off that high school gym locker room smell. -A fridge that, aside from having hairs in it, leaks enough that not only did it damage the furniture, but we took bets on how long it would take for the water to reach the bed. -A used blunt behind the microwave, which is on a shelf that moves if any weight is put on it. -A door guard that is falling off because the heavily stripped screws are falling out. -Random holes in the cabinet drawers. -USB charger. Unironically good.

Terrible Customer Service Experience!!!! I booked a room thru booking.com. for 3 people . My wife my daughter and myself. We decided that we would bring my nephew with us a well. When I arrived the female attendant asked for my reservation. And how many people were staying. Keep in mind my family is in the car so if I wanted to lie I would have all the opportunity to. I said there are 4 of us. Her second question if I had any pets and how big was what size dog I have.i said yes and I told her my dog was 60lbs. She then began to say that they only can accept dogs under 40lbs. I told her that I knew nothing about the policy and had booked thru booking.com. She said that I had also only said that 2 people were staying and there were 4 people. I showed here my reservation email that showed there were 3 of us staying. And she just brushed it off as if it meant nothing. Another person who came after me was waiting to check in so she said brushed me to the side and she said let me take care of him. I thought that was rude. But O. K. So she has already told me I could not stay there because of my dogs weight. And its after midnight and I'm 5 hours from home. What would you do? I started to call local spots to find a room. The first place I called had a room available and it was cheaper than this place. I reserved the room and told her that I reserved one and would not need the room any longer. She said ok and tried to give me some paperwork but mentions nothing else. I wish I would have grabbed it because the next day while reviewing my account they charged me for the room. This is when it gets worse. I them because I figured it had been a mistake and I get a different person that is extremely rude and tells me about all the notes they left him. He begins to act as if I was pulling some scam as he says to me" yes you ordered a room and you showed up with more people and a big dog and then you didn't want to pay for more people" I explained to him that that was not the case and that I wasn't given the option to stay because she told me my dog was to big. He said that I needed to read the policy about the size of the dog. So I also told him that it was through booking.com and he said that it doesn't matter that I need to talk to booking.com or call later when the lady that helped me was there. All the while we was talking to me with this bad attitude like i just stole something from him. I may not get my refund from this fool but I will never come back and I hope that if you read this you will think twice about going here. Btw this place looks nothing like the picture from the outside. I think that they went out off their way to make the pic they used look spectacular with Photoshop. Lol. Beware look at the place on Google maps if possible before you try and go here. It's definitely not the same. Also I stayed down the street at the red roof inn and the lady there was super nice and respectful. Zero stars if it...

BEWARE ! Your gambling with this one, last year previous owner we had room up front an was out dated but clean an folks were nice enough , This year we had called in April to reserve room for Aug during Pontiac Nats. We're told no prob we could have room in front an if available king bed ,which really didn't matter about size of bed I just asked . We're promised same clean nice room up front , needless to say new owners not as nice or obliging met with dragon lady very nasty at front desk , we were told we were in the very back behind noisey Mexican bar restaurant an dimly lit parking on end by wooded area made me nervous , when we asked to be put in different room. Up in front side like we requested were told we could leave but no money refund, as we were shocked an trying to make sense a lady came in an asked for room an dragon lady was not only going to keep our money 170. For Fri an 240.00 for sat an rent it out again? We took room with the area being booked up, what a horror room had stains on carpet floor sunk by sink , filthy tub I had to clean to use , crusted on dirty food in micro , no coffee pot, clock radio had a short in it an buzzed an krackled ,not safe so we unplugged , tv remote barely worked , dimly lit room , stains in two chairs in room looked like urine stains who know, sheets were not clean at all an not changed dirty dusty every where, mouse feces in air conditioning. / Heating unit , floor was damp an sticky, toilet seat broke an coming off, rust an scum on toilet paper an tissues despensers, Mark's on walls, dark brown spray paint on door to bathroom....overall worst room I've ever seen not liveable , or safe . Will never go back an if you get Rooms in back beware as we chatted with others an they told us more horror stories pool was filthy didn't e en bother ..... Never tried the Continental so-called breakfast peaked in didn't look like there was much they're not to mention wanted to avoid Dragon lady at all costs pretty bad when you're kind of caught between a rock and a hard place and have to stay there cuz there's nowhere else and the fees are as high as they were for that weekend there were no other rooms around all booked and we have pre-booked in advance so sad that there's no honesty and integrity anymore in the Commons Hotel business I was so disgusted I wanted to puke I can't even tell you I've told you a lot but how disgusting it was the man named Jay kept saying we make it right we make it right we give us chance we do again come back again there's no way even though he was polite about it he never even attempted to clean the room or do anything to help us not interested done avoid stay away at all costs and if you get room 138 you're in for a real treat LOL wouldn't wish...

I needed a room near Oberlin, OH the Sunday before the RNC. I just needed a place to relax and sleep before I headed back home 4 hours away. I wanted it to be reasonable priced and clean...and away from all the hustle and bustle of the Convention. I booked this room three weeks in advance for $67. It was about a half hour drive from Oberlin (and an hour from Cleveland). Sold. In the half hour driving there I passed horses, cattle countless crop fields and about 8 barns. Upon arriving, I was certain that the room was overpriced. This place looks like it was built in the 70s and has has no exterior updates since. Check in was at 2 and I walked in at 1:59. When I told the clerk I was checking in, she said "we'll see about that". Apparently, the rooms were still being cleaned. Thankfully, mine was ready. Check in afterwards was a breeze. I drove around to my room. Opened the door. First impression...this room was tiny! 2 "doubles" clad in cheap motel bedding, a small table, dresser, nightstand, tiny mini fridge and just enough room to walk between the fixtures. The bathroom is separate from the sink, which I don't quite understand, but I digress. The beds were hard and for some reason moved, even though they weren't on wheels. The room was definitely overpriced! This Econolodge is in the middle of anywhere! What I mean is that it is not far from gas stations, other hotel/motels or plenty of fast food. There is one restaurant where the food is prepared while you wait within a 10 mile radius...Bob Evans. This is not the place you choose to stay. This is the place you stay at because there are no other options! A couple final notes...Ohio is so conservative, they have billboards that read "Don't believe the liberal media". I saw 1 person of color while I was there (2, if you include the owner of this motel). None even in the cars that were sharing the road with me on the drive there or back. I knew I was out of place when the talk of the town, even an hour away from Cleveland, was the RNC. I knew it when the clerk asked if I was going to Cedar Point (because why else would a black woman be there). I have never before in my life been more aware of my blackness and never felt more out of place! I won't return. Pluses, it is clean and...
