Athenian Greek eatery — Restaurant in Novi

I would never give this place my business ever! We tried to dine at this establishment over the weekend at 3:00 on a Sunday where the restaurant was not busy & I was with my mother so there were two of us dining. We were going to split the super patty melt which was pretty pricey for a burger that comes without any sides & the Greek fries off of the appetizers on the menu (not sides) plus we were placing a carry out order for the spinach pie dinner & a quart of chicken lemon chicken rice soup for $11.99. We were told that we need to pay an extra $4.00 split plate charge because we were splitting a burger. I asked Ummm why because technically we are ordering 2 entrees 1 burger & 1 appetizer and we are ordering carry outs too. The waitress said she would ask but she is pretty sure we would have to pay it. She came back & she said, Sorry my manager said I have to still charge you the $4.00. I said ok nevermind the order we are leaving but can I speak to your manager. I explained my concern to the manager that I could understand if that was all we were ordering was one entree (even then the $4.00 is a steep plate charge) but we are ordering over $50 worth of food. The manager said well with all the cost of food rising now and the prices of carry out containers that have to pass it along to the customer and she was unable to waive the plate fee. I said that was absolutely ridiculous & I will take my business elsewhere & word of mouth is your best advertising & I will be sure to let everyone know you have a terrible business & for sure NOT...

2-19-2023 For background info, we have been in the area for a little over a decade. When we first moved here Athenian was a half-decent coney food with a little bit more variety. But recently there have been changes. About 2 weeks ago I went and ordered breakfast there. My mom, who doesn't like cheese, ordered an omelet and asked for no cheese on her omelet. Nowhere on the menu was there any statement about no substitutions or modifications. So instead of the omelet price we were charged for an ala carte egg dish. The price was Nickle and dimed upward because the request for no cheese was requested. Then last week we decided to give it another try I ordered tea to drink. The owner dropped off our check he charged us for lemon, which we didn't ask for, about a dollar increase once again not on the menu anywhere that lemon costs a dollar. Then again this weekend the 18th we tried one last time. Once again ordered tea no lemon. Toward the end of my meal, I asked for a glass of regular water. When we got the check they had charged us again for a Glass of water. Mind you all the times we were in we ordered food with everything mentioned. The owner told us that he had to charge us to clean the cup. Buyers beware these people will nickel...

Always a kind young gentleman seats you quickly! A great place to go to satisfy a variety of diners , from their delicious Chili Bowl (I asked to leave off the nacho cheese, they made accommodations to meet my request!), Fish & Chips, Spinach Pies which we all loved our meals!

The Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner selections and specials are plentiful! Definitely a place where you may end up with a togo box.

They offer a variety of soups and half orders, gyros and more!

Restrooms are Clean Contemporary

Their service is great! The Owner is a hands on Manager, he made us Laugh and it was a great visit and experience for our 92 year old guest.

Thank you, our first server was so kind it was her first day she was the type of person that enhanced the visit, her welcoming smile, she interacted and answered our questions then gave us time to order, it was appreciated.

Our next server took our order, she knew her way around.

The only suggestion is keep your employees happy and smiling & eye contact...
