It was my wife’s birthday. Her wish was to be chauffeured around all day. She became very ravenous after going to every resale boutique in a 50 miles radius. I suggested restaurant after restaurant, although she denied every suggestion. I said to her, “How about Seafood.” She said, “Yes !” This is how we arrived at the Bonefish Grill.

The restaurant offered both outside and inside seating. My crew wanted A/C. We were seated quickly, and the waitress took our drink orders. Drinks seemed to appear immediately.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is modern. The lighting is too dim. With the lights dimmed as they were, it was hard to read the menu.

We scoured the menu and finally decided on :

Appetizers : Maryland-style crab cakes There is a debate on crab cakes. Some people like their crab cakes with as little filling as possible. Why not just have a couple dollops of unseasoned lump crab?

On the other side, some people like the filling to enhance the taste with a delicate crust. I fall into this side of the debate.

The crab cakes they served had virtually no filling with no crust at all.

Calamari Crispy and very good in flavor.

Flash-fried green beans. I enjoyed the way they were cooked. I would describe this as a light flash-fried tempura green bean.

Entrees : Fish and Chips The chips were good, although the fish was greasy.

Parmesan cheese-encrusted Rainbow trout; garlic mashed potatoes and Kung Pao Brussels sprouts. I have never had encrusted trout before. It was excellent. The garlic mashed potatoes had a delicious flavor, although too dense in texture. A little more half-and-half or cream can take care of that.

The Kung Pao Brussels sprouts in portion were huge. Unfortunately, most of them were burned. I’d like to give them another chance.

Sirloin, Shrimp, Mac and Cheese The Sirloin was excellent. The Mac and Cheese was solid. The Shrimp, in my opinion, was frozen, “peel and eat”. A restaurant of this caliber should at least serve frozen, shell-on.

Blackened Baja Fish Tacos Three huge tacos came out with this order. Unfortunately, the tacos lacked flavor.

For the Birthday celebrant, this restaurant offered a complimentary dessert. My wife selected Key Lime cheesecake. I am not a cake fan. There was something different about this cake. To my kid’s dismay, I had most of my wife’s cake.

Will I come back to this restaurant even with my commentary ? I would like to. With a few recipe tweaks, the food will be outstanding.

I need to give a shout-out to our waitress Maria S. She gave us outstanding service and was...

This was my first time attending one of the prix fixe dinner events and I had a lovely time.

The atmosphere was buzzing in the best way possible…not too loud but definitely vibrant. The staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. Everyone seemed to work well as a team to provide excellent silent service in addition to checking in verbally from time to time.

The salad was extremely fresh and crisp and the dressing was light but flavorful. I’m not a huge artichoke fan but I tried several of the bang bang artichokes and enjoyed them more than I expected! I would get it again for sure.

The second course was very tasty. The smokiness definitely came through well…a nice amount of spice with a low level heat that kind of simmers in your tongue. It was an excellent level of heat. The shrimp were grilled well (maybe slightly overdone) but tasted amazing. My only gripe for this would be that the risotto wasn’t very creamy…it definitely was drier than I had hoped. However, it still had great flavor and complemented the dish well.

The filet Del Mar was my favorite part. The steak was medium and I prefer MR but that’s not a huge issue. The sauce was yummmmm. I would ask for more next time but that is a personal preference…like it saucy! I would have loved for the asparagus to have a char on them to bring some extra dimension to the veggie but in the sauce the asparagus was craveable anyway. Without the sauce I would guess the veg to be pretty boring.

I am not a huge dessert person but a simple and delicious brownie with a rich, smooth champagne strawberry sauce was quite the nice ending to the meal. I enjoyed it very much! The sauce helped cut the richness of the brownie in a delicate way. Great balance of flavor. Would’ve loved a few more strawberries but that’s nitpicking.

Overall, an excellent meal! I am also not a wine person but trying to expose myself to more wine and see if I find something I like. Course 2 Pinot Noir was my favorite of the 4 wines sampled. Very smooth and just yummy. I would do this type of event again in...

My family of 4 went there on 5/16/21. I had made the reservation online the day before. The first time I made reservations it did not confirm, so I did it a second time which instantly confirmed the reservation. When we arrived, the hostess started to seat us a table for a party of 8. I explained that it was for a party of 4, since the first reservation was never confirmed. With that mix up out the way, we asked for a large booth. The hostess seated us and said our server would be with us shortly. About 15 minutes later the server showed up. The restaurant was not busy on the inside, maybe 8 or 9 tables. She took our order for drinks and returned to take our orders for dinner. From there, it was all downhill. She said we would be served with warm bread, which did not arrive until 2 minutes before our dinner arrived after mentioning it to her and told her to forget, as it was too late. During our 1/2 hour wait for dinner, she never came to check to see if the bread had arrived, never came to see if we wanted another drink. We had to flag down a server from another table who politely was able to accommodate us. So embarrassing to see other tables promptly catered to, while we sat there neglected. Thought about asking for a manager, but didn't want to make a scene. When our dinners finally arrived, it lacked the a few things we asked for. Couldn't wait to get out of there. By the way, one of the people in our party works in the hospitality industry and said this service was...

Updated review: 4 stars After my review, the manager contacted me and asked what happened. He was sympathetic and professional, offered to come back and try again. We came in for brunch today, I’ve got crab huevos from the brunch menu, my husband had a burger. It was very good!! I’m glad I gave the place another chance. Old review I came in hungry, craving some vegetables and fish, so I ordered the mahi-mahi. My bill came to $30, which I wouldn’t have minded—if the food had been decent. Instead, it was an absolute disappointment. The fish was unbearably dry, overly spiced to the point of being inedible, and just a waste of money. The only redeeming part of my experience was my waiter/bartender, who provided great service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make up for the poor food quality. To top it off, I had an unpleasant encounter with another staff member. As I was leaving the bathroom, a waiter on the main floor said, “Excuse me,” and expected me to move out of her way—despite not carrying anything. I stepped aside because I’m a polite person, but it was incredibly disrespectful. A little customer service training wouldn’t hurt. Manager, do your job and educate your employees on basic courtesy. Between the subpar food and the rude service, I won’t be returning.

I previously gave his restaurant a good review. However, they ruined everything during my last visit. I can handle a lot, but I cannot stand lying straight to my face. When I was placing the order, I asked what type of veggies they have, is it broccoli as usual? The answer was “green beans”. I followed up with a question: "are the beans freshly steamed, or from a can”. I was assured they were fresh. When the meal arrived, it was obvious, the beans were from a can, or at least is not freshly steamed. After my comment to the waitress, I was assured the beans were fresly steamed. Then, another person approached (manager?) and assured me also they were freshly steamed. I attached a picture to my review, after all it tells more than 1000 words. I don’t know why staff in this restaurant think I never have seen a steamed fresh green beans. Maybe they should simply google "steamed green beans" to see how they look like, and why I don't believe anymore anything this establishment claims. To the management: you better be careful, because someone else may have a better come backs than me and may request same sides, but in a raw form. Then you won’t be able to tell it is not your hand, when someone will catch you by hand.
