Since we came last year the entire Dunes complex was sold. The suites and court are owned by one group and the large Dunes Manor is now a Hilton Garden Inn. So we are staying at the five story ocean from Dunes Suites. Nothing much has changed under new ownership. Still clean and looking good. We have a small kitchenette with full size refrigerator, two burner stove, microwave and coffee maker. We have a table for eating and a soft chair in the room. Good size TV and internet. Nice private patio overlooking the ocean. Bathroom on the smaller side but adequate. Last year there was no daily house cleaning services but the new owners have restored it. Only problem is they forget to leave soap, shampoo and essentials like coffee and cups. Just have to track them down. The adjoining court has a pool and it was nice sitting out there. Usually plenty of free parking. The check in is at the Court building (this is a 50-60's retro motel and not oceanfront). The employees there we so incredibly nice so that was a nice first impression. Definitely will return if the prices don't rise too much. But still one of the best deals for an oceanfront hotel. Just another thought is it's hard to find a luggage cart. They do have an elevator or you can use the stairs which is definitely quicker. This place is just off the north end of the boardwalk and seconds from the beach. Restaurants within a few blocks. (See my review on Coins pub and restaurant). Hope you enjoy this place...
Read moreMy wife and I booked a room at the Dunes Suites for a few nights getaway. I've never been to Ocean City before, so I had no idea what to expect from the city, nor this hotel.
I read some reviews about the rooms and rude office staff, so I was regretting my decision to stay here.
I can say that those reviews are not my experience. We checked in arounf 10pm and it was a breeze. The girls in the office were pleasant to me. I had to go back down because our room didn't have a DND door hanger. It was no problem and they were happy to give me one.
The room itself is nice enough. It's not a Hilton, but it's modern enough and most importantly is clean. Bed is comfortable. The reason you book this room is the balcony. You have a spectacular view of the ocean, especially if you are on the top floor like us.
The Dunes Suites is right at the end of the boardwalk, which is nice.
The only negative is the parking. It's tight. We decided to not use the car and just Uber places because of the hassle this could lead to.
Don't let the bad reviews deter you. This place is fine for what it is. I will gladly book this...
Read moreUnder new management and it is HORRIBLE. The office to check in is across the street at Dunes Court Motel. There is no lobby or office in the suites building. The office staff are essentially all teenage girls who are apathetic and rude. Whatever your concern or issue may be- they don’t care. They tried to charge our credit card twice for our stay. Our room door lock, safe, and lock on the door to the balcony were all broken. Maintenance did come up quickly when we called and took care of the doors but he said the safe was unrepairable and left. |There was what looked like vomit on the side of the sheets and floor. The coffee maker is a cheap one cup at a time maker that didn’t work. Their website says they have Starbucks coffee which is a joke. They give you two little tea bag type coffee packets. Every time we called about something or showed up at the office we were met with the same “we don’t care” attitude. |The “suite” was a room with two queen beds, chair with ottoman, fridge, two burner stove, microwave and...
