The one issue we had, which was quite frustrating is our locks. The lock is pin based to unlock, and it auto locks. However after we went out the first time the lock did not unlock with the pin. It refused to open. We called staff and they reset the pin, but that didn't work. They managed to get it open and we got in, but it couldn't lock. We told them that we could now unlock but now it won't lock at all. They ended up giving the key so we could manually lock and unlock but still, big issue. Easily could have been solved if everyone is given key in the first place.
Good hotel. You don't get much options in Ocracoke so this is definitely one of the better ones. There are multiple room options. Parking spaces were tight but manageable, also wish there was more shade to prevent the cars from overheating up. If you have a Tesla or an EV there is no outdoor plugs to charge.
Golf car rental is available here, there are some other businesses offering them around Ocracoke but we liked the convenience of getting it at Pony Island and charging it here. So you can pay for the cart, get the keys, and charge your cart behind the pool. There is also a pool outside.
Rooms are decent, small but get the job done. Would be nice to have a small table to sit at instead of a large island and two chairs sitting in each corner. Two lamps and ceiling lights were there and so lighting felt fine. A/C and fan are there. Small TV with poor reception so do not expect clarity in your TV. Small fridge, microwave, cabinets, etc. Bathroom didn't have enough towels, so had to ask for more. I liked that the shampoo and body wash were integrated into the shower so there was plenty!
Location is great, walkable to nearby stuff and golf cart can go easily all around town so you won't drive more than 10 mins. Staff were super friendly and helpful! Also a place to buy drinks, snacks in the...
Read moreOkay, we reserved last minute due to a storm ruining our first day of camping. A room with 1 queen bed was 145 dollars per night. Room was on the third floor, no elevators. We walk in and are blasted in the face by the smell of mold (the classic un dehumidified basement smell) no wonder as the windows were open and the AC off. The room comes with one bar of soap....that's it. At 145 dollars a night that's unacceptable, not to mention the decore straight out of 1995 and a mattress that seems to be just as old (the springs can be felt through the padding) And to add insult to injury the mattress has never been flipped so it has a noticeable slope to it leaving you sleeping with your head lower than your feet, this could be made better with two pillows but there are only two old thin synthetic pillows per bed. Don't even get me started on the cheap prison grade low thread count sheets which are also old and yellow.. and the comforter? What comforter....there's just a thin blanket that's about 20 years old to keep you warm. The sink drain has been neglected and drains extremely slowly leaving you looking at a gross pool of your own toothpaste or shaving cream once you're done using it. The wifi is basically only good enough for reading text, forget video conferencing or streaming any video...I had to use my cell connection to write this review. In conclusion, seek out another hotel on the island, it can't be much worse than this. A room like this would go for 45 dollars a night (with option to rent by the hour cough cough) where I come...
Read moreNot too bad for a small hotel. Check-in 3pm, check-out 11am. Free wi-fi. It's within walking distance to a few shops and a trolley stop. The room was adequate for the 3 of us and the AC/fan was ok, even though there was something wrong with the condenser pipe and it was dripping water a bit on the floor in our room. The room smelled a bit musty and wet towels or bathing suits don't dry out at all in the rooms. The beds had soft mattresses. I'm glad there was a railing outside the rooms where we could put towels and suits out to dry in the hot sun. The pool is nice, and the next door restaurant for breakfast was fast and friendly, although pricey for what you get, like most places here are. The walls of the rooms seemed nice and thick so we didn't hear our neighbors, so that was a plus, and the quiet hours are from 9pm-8am which was much appreciated. The parking is a bit tight. We have a small car and had to back out of the parking lot since there was no room to turn around in our section. They also have spots for golf cart parking and rent bikes, too. A word of warning: like most places on the island, the salt marsh mosquitoes are relentless at night, so forget trying to sit out at the chairs at night unless you are doused in repellant. Overall, we would stay here again if...
