Blue Heron Realty is a awsome Realty coompany!!! They are down to earth People with southern peraonalities. They have everything you need to stay from 1 night to 1 month, if they don't have it they will get it, Locals know what it is to becone one their own, ask Jennifers husband Fess he will tell you it's not easy but the job is now done and worth it. When it comes to knowing what's going on on the island all you have to do is ask the kids Josie, Siera and Lee, they go in all directions from baseball, basketball to socker, not that it is all ways played on the island but if not... they can tell you where the next game is and who is playing. They are all avid fishermen... they know whats biting and where and the bait to use, not that Fess will give you dibs on his honey hole but it's worth a ask..ha! ha!, This family has some tales to tell you about Ocracokes past and future and this ranges from great southern and coastal recipes to large fish tales but you" can" bet they are all origional. We stayed at the Captain Quarters and it was a great house our other friends stayed at Aquarious we did not want to stay right on top of each other and we told Jennifer that when we booked our week and to our pleasure they were also greatly pleased b/c that compliment don't come easy, they don't travel much because of their past experiences. ( I told them they would be very satisfied and they were!!) now we have permanent traveling companions as long as Blue Heron is in the picture. It was as if the houses were chosen just for us almost like they were built to our satisfaction from the sizes of the rooms to the color, we were all greatly satisfied. If you needed anything (which we didn't) or something was not quite right all you had to do is call the office and within minuted they were knocking at your door from anything such as a light bulb in hand or a toaster in arm. All the houses have everything for a great stay I will say not all the houses are kept up by Blue Herons maintaince and cleaning group but they are on standby to help out to make it feel like home and the good thing about that is they tell you up front, you are more than welcome to check your house before you confirm the deal. The restaurants are great and the people you meet in these establishments are awesome! Jason's Restauant is good for a light meal and a cold beer and entertainment, Cafe Atlantic is great for a more one on one classy quiet night. Pony Island Restaurant for the best breakfast on the island.. Pony Potatoes my favorite) :) Get there early or be prepaired for a little wait, Howards Pub is for the sand on your feet while letting your hair down and trying to cool the sun burn from the previous beach day with a cold beer and a good burger and fries.. listing to live entertainment. If you don't endulge to much you can driving away on your golf cart or bike that you also rented from Blue Heron Realty. If that "not" be the case...walk back to the house or you might get a ride from Jason the islands officer of the law,,,don't want that, now do we? Tips are "not" accepted from him just pay the Hyde County Court house..ha! ha! I am the D D in my crowd so I am the island taxi when I can be found and yes tips are accepted and they also come with a bit of my advice.... don't drink and drive!!! WALK it's good for your health, We will see you all the week of May for the fishing tournament and will get with you Jennifer for the rest of our scheduled Ocracoke stays. We have been visiting Ocracoke Island for about 18 years and have dealt with several realty companies there. While vacationing there one summer, I decided to walk into Blue Heron Realty to get a brochure and have never used another company since. Their greeting was warm and sincere and they were even happy to allow me to go into a few rentals on a Saturday before the new renters arrived for the week. That made it much easier for me to choose which house would be the best for our family.

Their booking was easy, their email reminders about payment due dates were great, and whenever I had a question, I felt very comfortable calling because they always went out of their way to answer anything I needed to know. Before our stay last summer, I had a couple of questions about the house, so I called and the young lady I talked to could answer all but one, so she got in touch with the owners and called me back within a couple of hours. I couldn't have asked for better service.

Last summer we also had the privilege to meet Blue Heron's owner and her husband, I can honestly say it's the first time we visited that we didn't feel like a tourist. Fess made it a point to stop by one day with his son on his way home from work to drop off a light bulb for our outside deck light. He and my husband chatted for quite some time about fishing, different kinds of tackle, bait, etc. It was such a personal touch that we never had from another realty company.

Upon arrival I realized that I had rented the wrong size sheets for our bed, so I called the office to let them know I made a mistake, and it wasn't a problem at all. To my surprise, the owner, Jennifer, dropped them off for me. You will know Jennifer by the smile on her face.....I swear I have never met anyone who smiles more! We talked for a bit, and she was telling me a little more about the house, and I just felt like I was talking to a neighbor I had known for years.

We will continue to make our summers in Ocracoke a family tradition, and we will most certainly be renting through Blue Heron Realty. You come to a place like Ocracoke to get away from the fast pace and fake people just wanting to make a buck. Blue Heron treated us like we were a part of the island rather than just a number. They were warm and genuine and really made our stay on the island the best we have experienced in all our years...

We have been visiting Ocracoke for nearly 20 years and stayed in all types of accommodations. Blue Heron, the owners Jennifer and Fess, and their staff have been a pleasure to work with making them our favorite. They have southern charm and hospitality and always ensure our week long stay is nothing but great. Their local knowledge of the village, the beaches, fishing and history are all part of the charm and what makes them great at what they do. We usually arrive before check in time so we go hang at the beach and when possible, they get us into our "home" early, bonus hours!! Scheduling and payments have all been easy whether over the phone or online. They always have everything ready when checking in and checking out is a breeze. Rarely have we used the after hours check out or check in that is available but you will find it extremely easy and maybe even a bit surprising (those who have experienced it understand, try this in a city somewhere). Our Ocracoke vacation countdown is on and we will be seeing them again soon, I recommend them and hope you too will having an Ocracoke Countdown starting...
