We arrived at the hotel about 2:30 pm, after having been on the road since about 7:00 am. Normal check-in time was 3:00, but we decided to try and check in early. As expected, the room was not ready, but that was to be expected so we had no problem leaving a phone number for the front desk to call when our room was ready. Because of the hotel's location, it was convenient to go to a local shopping area while the room was being prepared. When we still received no call, we went back to the hotel around 4:00 only to find that the original desk attendant had left and the new one knew nothing about the room since she had just started her shift. In any case, she checked the records and saw that we had been waiting for the room to be finished and said that it was. However, she did accompany us to the room to make sure everything was ok. Well, as one could probably guess, the room was not ready and the room attendant was nowhere in sight. However, her cleaning supplies and an unemptied trash can were still in the room. At this point, I must say that the desk clerk did everything she could to apologize over and over. She called another room attendant who was probably in the hotel, but not on duty. This second room attendant was also very sorry and immediately began to clean the room. Since we had brought our bags up to the room, she said we could wait while she cleaned. However, since we did not want to be in the way, we decided to go downstairs and wait. We found out that one of the maids had just walked out with no warning. This had a snowball affect because there were other guests wanting to check in but their rooms were not ready either. I am sure unexpected things like this happen, but it was surprising that they were unprepared. I cannot say enough about how the desk clerk and the replacement maid tried to alleviate our inconvenience. We waited perhaps another 30 minutes in the lobby when she told us our room was ready, but it was a different room across the hall. They did not explain why the originally assigned room was changed, but this new one felt very damp and was very worn. The bathroom door was warped to the point we had to lift up on it to close properly, and it also had a bad mildew like smell. We made it through the overnight stay and did not complain since there were obviously not many rooms available. I had asked earlier if there were other rooms available and was told there were none. I have stayed at Comfort Inns before and have not had this type of problem. For her part, the desk clerk said she would ask her manager if we could be given extra choice points for our trouble, but to date, none have been awarded. So the staff was very helpful and apologetic, but the overall stay was only fair in my opinion. This one seems to be a management/staff problem to have someone just walk out with no notice, with a "full" hotel. I will point out that when we left the new room after we had gone in and fresh, there was someone who appeared to be over housekeeping knocking on doors asking if they had had maid service. She indicated to us that they had a maid walk out that left them in lurch. Again, the onsite staff were very pleasant and helpful but could not overcome the staff shortage and the condition...
Read moreWhile the staff are wonderful, that is where the positivity ended. We stayed in three different rooms and checked out early. The first room had a brown film running down the wall topped by what appeared to be a water bubble only held in place by paint. We moved into the second and third rooms and in these spaces: the water didn't drain from shower, the toilet didn't flush, the floor was sticky - requiring a towel on the floor. The refrigerator door didn't close once a small bottle was placed, parts of the inside of the refrigerator were rusted, the screen was detached from the window, there were...some type of stains that appeared to be brown on the curtains in two different rooms, there were yellow stains on the comforters, there were stains on the towels, they do not have their laundry professionally cleaned and it shows.||You would think it would end there...that dirty towels and barely functioning bathroom facilities would be the end, but no...the Comfort Inn just kept going on their valiant display of how much they do NOT care for their guests.||The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling...it needed batteries and the beeping was incessant. We called for batteries, but they needed to come up after we went to bed, so we left it. This was the final room. We checked out early to stay elsewhere. We should have done so sooner...perhaps after the second room, but we were exhausted. We went to Oklahoma to visit an ill family member and this hotel is close. This stay at the Comfort Inn put us in a position of continually having to move when we only wanted to focus on our relative. Reconsider your options and do not stay here. If you are also visiting a loved one in the hospital, there are options elsewhere that are just as close. We deserved better than the debacle that is this Comfort Inn and...
