Customer service is fantastic, the doughnuts are divine. Lots of great flavors, even the most baseline doughnut holes have a subtle vanilla flavor. Been coming here for a couple of years now, and really enjoy doing so!
Update: Not a thing has changed. I still come here about once every week or two, and the service is personable, the doughnuts flow like wine, and the icing is only barely sweeter than the staff. For those that don't normally go for normal doughnut faire, I recommend trying this place at least once.
Update: Still such a solid local installation, to be honest. The spouse and I are eating breakfast once a week or so, and love it. There are other locally owned shops like this, but nothing comes close in consistency in terms of friendly service, flavor/texture/selection. Very reliable, and we've certainly come to depend on them, with no intention of ceasing anytime soon. I still recommend coming here, and if just wanting to dip a toe in, get a bag of doughnut holes (tends to be roughly a dozen), since even something so simple is still a cut above any local options we know of.
I maintain my assertion that it deserves five stars for the food, since it's good stuff outclassing similar options.
Same goes for the service, they are friendly, fun, and they'll recognize a face.
The atmosphere is very standard, since they are constantly frying dough to make an excellent product. The service and food make up for run-of-the-mill surroundings, in my opinion, and thusly earns the five star...

I stayed at a nearby hotel and bought a dozen donuts for my family, and they were some of the best donuts I've had in my life. I say this as a lifelong donut lover.
I bought a mix and they were all superb. There was no stale oil taste, and this was at 10 am. Even the next day, there was no oil taste. The glazed/yeast donuts were soft and airy and melted in my mouth. The old-fashioneds (sour cream / buttermilk) had a great texture. The cake donuts were also perfectly textured. The large jalapeno and cheese pig-in-a-blanket was solid. The various donut flavors were all very well done, and the taste was divine. I wish I got to try a cinnamon roll.
And of course, the prices were legit and affordable. The woman working there was incredibly helpful and friendly.
Please: support these places. Cherish them. Some businesses are trying so hard to ruin donuts and make them $3 a piece, pretentious, ready for Instagram, and yet still mediocre. JUST SAY NO to pretentious "artisan" donuts (the Voodoo Donut effect). JUST SAY NO to private equity donuts.
Long live shops like Gourmet Donut....
Read moreI don't know what it is that makes these donuts the most amazing donuts, but they are. They are fresh, soft and melt in your mouth good. They are similar to Krispy Kreme, only better. The family that runs it are all wonderful. I always start with glazed donuts because if a place can't make the basics I am not trying anything else. Now my problem is I will eat 6 glazed donuts by myself. I really love this place and drive almost 30 minutes for the donuts. The sausage rolls are good too, but the donuts... I'm glad they aren't closer to my house because I'd end up in a sugar coma. I will cry if they...
