While recovering in a wheelchair from broken leg, my horrible insurance company Aetna, booted me out of rehab hospital; since my new home wouldn't close for a week, a dear friend recommended Residence Inn in Oldsmar. After a booking snafu through hot*l. com....I contacted Marriott directly and was given a super rate for my 5 day stay. I ended up needing additional day; no problem ....their staff came through with flying colors. Staff was "totally compassionate" and made all my needs and wants happen. Although the buffet was superb and pleasantly varied....I did have to have help reaching things out of my reach in my chair. But guests and staff were quite helpful and it was a nice respite. Needless to say, I "ate well" during my stay. Management even moved me to ground floor wheelchair equipped room. And brought me extra pillows and removed a few chairs that blocked my paths in successfully moving around my suite. I would advise to always deal directly with Marriott....(their price was lower than internet booking sites)....and I would heartily endorse anyone to enjoy their ambiance and courteous professional staff here. Thanks for "caring" for me during my stay. Sandy B.
May 2020 Ended up needing few nights lodging between house closings. Returned to familiar place....but much has changed!
NO FREE BREAKFAST BUFFET! This is a $10-$15 daily difference! (Yet no reduction in lodging prices).
Instead guests receive sack with muffin, orange, and breakfast bar. HUGE DIFFERENCE.
Hotel was dirty---I mentioned hall carpets that needed vacuuming everyday I was registered. NEVER got vacuumed. My room had broken handle on microwave....broken leg on couch....and bathroom door had peeling paint all along bottom---most likely water damage. And the quality of workmanship on waterproofing shower/bath was atrocious.
It actually felt more like a Motel 6 than a Marriott!
While management matched online price quote....the condition and lack of services prevented my stay from being anything more than barely adequate. And when I emailed manager pictures (several times)....all she said was she never received them. This is how you ruin a high review down to a...
Read moreThe pros: Great location with securely locking outside doors, well lit parking lot, quiet with nothing heard inside room, walkable area. Ample breakfast with standard hot and cold Residence Inn selections. Employees nice. Able to utilize parking and access larger gym room at connecting Courtyard hotel.||The cons: While remodeled, some updates are still continuing and most appear to be appearance-based (new paint, new drapes, new door and cabinet knobs, etc.). Limited paint smell and power saw sounds (not before 8am nor after 5pm). Dog pick-up bags had run out and not replaced during our three day stay. Vinyl sofa very uncomfortable. Odd smell in hallway. Soured strange odor in our room (cleaning chemicals, mold and mildew, unclean carpet?) that never dissipated. AC struggled to keep up and only once cycled off during out entire stay (thank you to Terry for responding to my request for service and for helping me to set the thermostat to 70o when I checked in) thus assisting in prolonging the aforementioned odor and wet damp feeling. Some hallway noise coming from inside rooms when passing by. Room itself is dark and could use another lamp or ceiling light fixtures; gloomy. One bedroom had a bedside clock and the other room did not. One bathroom had a vanity cabinet underneath the sink while the other did not and had bare pipes with hair dryer and extra toilet tissue stored in the bedroom closet. Three sleak new phones in room with only two of them working. One of two toilets had a tendency to run a bit after flushing. ||Unsure of confusion upon check-in, as front desk was not aware of small dog being with us nor my request for a room on a high floor. Both requests were made, confirmed via email and visible via Marriott website booking 11 days prior to my arrival (shame on me for not phoning the hotel front desk to make sure; never had to with any other hotel locations). While not guaranteed, would have expected better service and more effort to honor my request due to Marriott Gold Elite status.||Will reserve the new TownePlace Suites on US Hwy 19 in...

Great location for my work. Buuuuuut...
Shower design is AWFUL- Step into the shower before you turn it on, and adjust the head sideways. Let it warm up for 10-15 before you actually need a shower, too.
Bathroom area smelled like septic gas every morning.
There were someone else's pills on the floor, and sticky spots in the kitchen.
Bed was fresh and clean!
Coffee provided at breakfast is absolutely awful. It's made with tap water, and tastes like melted plastic. Please use filtered water.
Staff was just... A little strange. I had a very uncomfortable experience at breakfast. I went down to collect breakfast for my partner and myself, and the poorly kemt attendee (who was more interested in TikTok than making sure food was fresh) looked up, stared at me, then popped into the back room, where she urged someone to come out and look at me too. He pretended to survey the room, but just stared at me, then went back to the kitchen where I heard the 1st attendee saying, "See? See?" The man then went to the desk, and as I passed, was working with a sleepy woman with everywhere hair, pouring over the computer together. They both eyed me as I passed, and I just felt SO spotlighted and uncomfortable, like I was committing some crime for taking breakfast back to my room (in my own containers!)
When I mentioned this to my partner, he said he'd had a similar experience the morning prior.
How horribly rude. As a Platinum Elite member, I'm extraordinarily disappointed. I would love to stay here again for the location and decent rooms, but the...
