My Sister and niece reserved this stay on Booking.com for 5 days 4 nights. While the rate was perfect u don't find out until you check in that they want a $200 per night incidental hold on your room ($1000) for any damages and such. We thought it was a communication misunderstanding because the young lady had to call her supervisor in order to confirm it was per night not just 1 night. I inquired as to what could possibly have happened in this hotel for them to charge an extra fee for $200 per night. We were disappointed as the supervisor told her we can immediately cancel our room and we could go else where. Say less trick! I walked across the parking lot to the Holiday Inn Express. I was hit with a burst of lemon citrus fresh air when the doors opened to the lobby to a modern clean updated space. Handsome Caleb (biblical name which we connected to devine intervention) because he had a 2 queen bed room available at a rate of $112 a night w just a $50 per room incidential fee. we immediately checked in and was told about the complimentary breakfast, biscuits w gravy pancakes turkey and pork sausage a variety of cereals, toast, danishes, fruit, a juice bar, apple, cranberry and orange not watered down w also egg and cheese omelettes and grits. Coffee regular and decaf, Delicious. my sister and niece were so excited that the room at the Courtyard didnt work out. I called them the next day and spoke to a supervisor and was told the General Manager for the two Marriott hotels in that area Francesa Garmon made the decision for the $200 a night incidential charge. I stated Oldsmar is not a party town like Miami and Las Vegas for damages to be incurred at that rate per night and you have families w young children who probably was just able to travel after 3 years of Covid and I'm sure have their finances carved out to arrive to their hotel tired and hungry to be told oh yeah we taking an extra $1000 on your credit card for your stay. She further informed me that they are working on putting that in the description for booking sites when reserving the hotel. I said you know dayum well you all purposely don't disclose that information until a person arrives because who would book before hand?...
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever had to write a negative review with Marriot. This hotel was a big disappointment and it keeps getting worse even after we checked out. Our baseball team spent $4300.00 on rooms for a tournament and this is not including the amount of money we spent on candy, water, soda, and pet fees while staying at this place. We spent almost $5000.00 at this hotel. We had to beg for pool towels and had to beg to get ice from the ice machine. The ice machine would be locked and only the manager was able to unlock it. Never had this issue in any other Marriot, they always fill our coolers up for us as we live in Florida and it is 100 digress outside during the summer. At first, we were told the ice machine was broken and when next shift came on they said it was locked. You figure when you spend money at a place they could at least be honest with you. There was always an excuse for not having pool towels. You would figure a hotel that knew a baseball team was staying and a few days have passed they would put towels out by the pool. Every morning we would go outside and no towels, we would ask and no towels. I don’t think we asked for too much.
My baseball team is under my name and I had 2 parents under my name as my family shared a suite with another family so we can save a little money for the team. When checking in and checking out I explained to the front desk that the 2 families are under my name and please put my Marriot reward points under their rooms please. We travel all the time as a team and have never had a problem. I am still fighting with Marriot to get my points because when I shared a room with another family, their name is under the room. Even though the 8 families staying at the hotel under my baseball teams name, I was questioned on the phone if I really staying at the hotel. I gave the hotel our tax exception forms with my name on it, the baseball team is under my name. I picked this hotel and spent $5000.00 and I am now getting crapped on. We travel to Tampa/Plant city area twice a month and always stay at Marriott’s with our team and spend lots of money. After this experience I think we will be looking to give our money to...
Read moreThe common areas and service is what I expect from the Marriott chain. However, my room experience was not up to par. When I arrived, I took a shower and the water temp was barely luke warm. The next morning, it was the same. However, the water coming out of the sink was nice and hot. When I told the person at the front desk that the sink was hot but the shower was cold, I was told they would look into it but the water all comes out of the same pipes. It’s not a good response. I was made to feel that an idiot for saying that the water was hotter coming out of one place than the other because the pipes are the same. Anyway, it was fixed and the rest of the time, the water temps were good. The tile in the shower has a large chunk missing out of it and part of the glazing on the tub is worn down almost to the metal. The radio on the clock radio did not work and the ice machine on my floor was out of order for my entire stay. At least put a sign on it saying it is out of order. I made 2 phone calls from the phone next to the bed and instructed the people to call me back at that number. I assumed they never called me back because I didn’t see any messages. The next day, I noticed the phone on the desk next to the tv had it’s message light blinking. I missed 2 important calls that should have been returned the day before. When I notified the front desk that the message light on the phone next to the bed was not working, I was told that the phone in my room has 2 lines and it must have went to the other line??? Either way, if someone calls your room, both message lights should be lit. I’ve stayed 20 plus nights at various Marriott properties this year and this was not up to the standard I’ve come to expect from this company. I’ll be staying again in January and I hope things...
