The place is infested with roaches. I hadn’t been there in several years and it wasn’t that way before. The customer service was also better. It took almost 30 minutes to check in and while I was being checked in there were children running around and the vibe of the other customers was off. There are a lot of people staying there who are in programs that pay for their stay. This causes issues because they don’t care about the accommodations since they aren’t paying for anything. They’re also staying there long-term and the rooms probably aren’t being cleaned as often if at all.
The first room I checked into had roaches in the fridge and freezer. I should have ran then. I was told the room wasn’t supposed to be open and was “under service.” The second room I was checked into seemed decent at first until the sun began to set and the German cockroaches showed up. They were on the walls and crawling on items on the tables. I went to the front desk and was “greeted” by an employee with green hair. She was sitting in the breakfast area with other women loudly discussing Bible scriptures instead of standing at the front desk like a normal employee.
I told her about the infestation and I was told she didn’t have any bug spray and all she could do was put in a ticket for pest control but they may not arrive that week. I asked her what was the process for getting a refund on the stay. She claimed that despite only being in the room for less than 4 hours and seeing multiple roaches in 2 rooms that they were going to charge me for the full night and the rest of the money would have to be discussed with corporate.
I told her she shouldn’t be charging me anything and she’s lucky I wasn’t calling the state to shut the place down because it’s uninhabitable. I grabbed my items and checked out immediately. While I was leaving she told me they would check me out tomorrow. I said I wanted to be checked out now and I’m not paying for the full night of room hopping and roaches.
The roaches and infestation of course was the worst part. But the guests were also sketchy and I didn’t feel safe there. The laundry facilities were down and being “worked on” with no definitive dates. The televisions didn’t work. The rooms didn’t look clean or smell like bleach like I experienced years ago. Save your money. Book an Airbnb. You can find an entire apartment for the same price or less than what they are charging.
I contacted their reservation line after this ordeal and it took two calls until I reached a normal person who was willing to give me the corporate number and take down my complaint.
This place needs to be reported.
08/19/2025: I have an update. I contacted my bank and gave them all of the documentation.
I also contacted the corporate office on Monday morning and spoke to someone named John. He claimed my issue was being escalated to the General Manager Lana Singletary. He gave me a case ID number.
Today I contacted the corporate office again and spoke to someone named Michael. He told me that Lana closed my complaint and refused to refund me the first “night’s” stay. I told Michael that I left within hours of arriving after being greeted with a roach infestation in two rooms.
Michael claimed he would reopen the complaint and escalate it over Lana’s head.
If you stay here you will have to deal with roaches and people who have the audacity to take your money. Once this issue is resolved I will also be reporting them to the state.
09/11/2025: Someone from the property responded to this review and “apologized” yet they have refused to give me the money from my first “night’s” stay back. They are aware I left within hours and never stayed overnight due to their roach infestation.
I have reported them to state regulatory agencies and I’ve recently received confirmation that official investigations have been opened.
10/24/2025: These people are still fighting me over $63. I didn’t know they were this broke. The state of Florida also found them in violation of having vermin at...
Read moreI have stayed in over 5,000 hotels worldwide (ranging from youth hostels to five star boutique hotels) and THIS was my least favorite one thus far. I'm going to be as unbiased in my review as possible, so I'll start with what I liked about this hotel: The location is really good - most Orlando attractions are within the range of 10-20 minutes drive. The beds were decent - considering everything else that wasn't.
Here's what I didn't like about the hotel, and even with rock bottom expectations you won't either:
Most of the time during my week long trip, NO ONE was at the front desk. When checking in, this meant having to wait for half an hour and search thru the hotel hallways to find someone working for the hotel, just to find out that the person in charge was attending to a maintenance issue and since the hotel was so horribly understaffed, they didn't have anyone else to attend to the reception desk. Being understaffed meant that no one responds when you call "0" on your hotel phone. EVERY time I called to complain about an issue with my room it went straight to "Extended Stay America's central reservation system. The room was very dirty and on several occasions I found bugs in the room (see picture). There are very little in terms of kitchen amenities. I was planning to cook a few meals during my stay and this turned out to be impossible since the hotel, unlike what they advertise, provided almost no cooking utensils. For instance, on the first day of my stay I asked for a pot. I was told that all the hotels pots were already given to other guests and that I will be provided with one the next day. A day past, and I went back to get the pot only to be told that they had already given the returned pots to other guests. Two days after that I went back again to get a pot, only to be told by the person at the front desk that (and I quote): "the pot that is available right is dirty and my shift ends in half an hour, so.....". Basically, she didn't think it was worth her remaining time during that shift to attend to an issue one of the guests had. Needless to say, by the end of the seventh day at the hotel I still didn't get a pan. The room key card does not function properly. On several occasions someone had to be sent to plug in an electronic device into my room key access to (temporarily) fix the issue. The TV did not work properly either. It was supposed to have about forty channels. It had only 6 with the image quality seen in the photos, the rest of the channels did not show anything (again, shown in the photos). I spent over an hour trying to get the hotel to fix this issue, they did nothing but apologize "for the inconvenience". The supposedly new towels were constantly dirty. On numerous occasions I found other people's hair and other substances on the towels. I used the towels a few times before deciding to purchase my own new towels but that limited amount of contact was enough to cause several skin rashes on my body. The bathroom fan made a horrid noise whenever it was turned on. Hotel did nothing to fix it. The internet did not work 90% of the time. Hotel did nothing to fix issue. Hotel walls are so thin, you will hear EVERYTHING happening in adjacent rooms... snoring, talking, fighting, and yes, that too.
I'll stop right there, since I've already spent way too much of my time thinking about the horrible experience I had at the Extended Stay America hotel on Major Blvd in Orlando, FL. I have to say to the management of this godforsaken establishment though: Putting up a sign next to your front desk that says" "We're dropping, we should go up, not down" is not called hospitality management. And I can assure you, unlike your sign, I'm sure more than 15% of your guests...
Read moreI want to start off by saying the hotel staff have been very helpful and always had great customer service during my stay at this hotel. I give the staff 5 stars. The rest of the review below is for ALL the owners of this hotel.
Exterior: There should be a push ADA button for people with disabilities. I have opened the door a few times for guests staying at this hotel with walkers, wheelchairs and walking canes. Guests should not have to juggle grocery bags to try to open the door that is heavy for people with disabilities. Although the building is older, there are other hotels in the area that are older and they have push button access. This is an onging issue that needs to be addressed asap.
interior Hallways: There is no reason the carpet on each floor should look like its never been shampooed. Yes, the hallways are very traffic heavy however, the dark carpet makes the hallways look dark and dreary. The carpet should compliment the walls decor to make it inviting on the guest way into a clean room. The hallways should be vacuumed everyday not once a week. The third floor smells like hot garbage. Air freshners should be on every floor.
Interior Room: I like the room however there are no photos on the walls. It makes the room look bland. If this is a guest home away from home for any length of time, then there should be some sort of paintings or photos on the walls. The kitchen and bathroom should be updated. Everything is basic and outdated. The room also need to be sprayed for bugs as I saw a bug on the wall coming from the window.
Breakfast: Hot cereal such as grits and oatmeal is served but there are no bowls or butter for guests to enjoy if they decide to eat in the breakfast area or on the run. There is no milk, juice or water only coffee to go with the very cheap and basic muffin. Burry is the brand. Never heard of it.
WiFi: Why should guests have to pay for better, faster wifi when it is advertised as faster, free wifi? A decent speed should be included in every guest stay.
Since this hotel is in the area of a major theme park, there is no reason this location should be a basic hotel 1 or 2 star hotel. Epic Universe, the fourth theme park under Universal Orlando Resort, is opening summer of 2025.
Why should any guests choose to stay at this hotel when they can choose a hotel with better rooms, breakfast and amenities? What would make guests come to this location? If this hotel wants to remain 90-95% full every week, then the little changes mentioned above should be taken into account to get ready for the grand opening of the fourth park and the future of this ever changing area.
Step by step,...
