American Grill - Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in Orlando

I am on a four night business trip, which always causes me trepidation as I have Celiac disease and am thus at risk due to 1) having every meal outside of my normal, known-safe routine, and 2) the potentially devastating results of getting gluten-dosed on a business trip. I checked with the hostess at the desk of the restaurant and she said they don't have a guten-free menu, but could accommodate a gluten-free request. Based on that I requested a table. When she then brought me a menu and I asked her to describe the options she had mentioned, she deferred saying she could not describe them, but the chef would come out and talk to me. Her reluctance gave me pause that perhaps I had made a bad choice, but I waited for the chef. I am very glad I did! He came out, introduced himself (I'm sorry I didn't make a point of catching his name), shook my hand, and said he would take care of me. He presented some options (he clearly knew what to look for in terms of gluten sources and cross-contamination), and we discussed my preferences. He was very personable and pleasant; we quickly arrived at a choice of one of his options - in short order he made a custom protein bowl for me, which he brought to my table himself. Worst food I've had from a restaurant in years. I ordered the Ultimate Chicken sandwich. The waitress came back to ask if I wanted ham or turkey on it. I told her the turkey & ham was for a Club (also on the menu), and that's not what I ordered. She didn't understand until I pulled out the menu and read my dish to her. We also asked for a side salad with balsamic dressing. She brought a caeser salad with extra caesar dressing, then I tried to explain we wanted a side salad, NOT caeser, with balsamic. So she said the would bring balsamic over. I just gave up at that point. My food came with cheddar cheese, not Swiss as described on the menu, and the fries tasted like they had been in the freezer for 2 years - like paste. I can forgive a simple mistake if it's corrected, but this entire experience was ineptitude from not only the waitress, but clearly...

*Terrible experience,so expensive, and cockroach and the table.☹ We arrived at the restaurant and the hostess completely ignored us; she left us waiting for a long time. After realizing we weren’t going to be seated, we decided to sit at the bar. Service was slow, and the food took almost 30 minutes to arrive. The waitress brought us some wings and said she wouldn’t charge us for them due to the delay—but in the end, they were still included on the bill.

The worst part was that a cockroach crawled across the bar toward our food while we were eating. The waitress ran off when she saw it, but no one offered a proper apology or solution.

The food itself was nothing special—the taste was pretty average considering the high prices. Overall, I do not recommend...
