From the outside, this hotel looks upscale and modern. The location just cant be beat. Only a couple minutes to Ole Miss or all the restaurants at the square. Everything else about the hotel is fair to average at best. I went to check in a little before 3, check in time. Working at a Marriott myself I should have known better; 3 is shift change. Instead of waiting for their relief, front desk already clocked out and let me know. The next person was on their way and it was too much to check me in apparently. That would never fly at my property. So I waited 20 minutes for the next front desk agent. She checked me in and my keys were pre made since I had done mobile check-in. Naturally 1 key card didnt work and neither key card were Courtyard Marriot branded. Its usually the lower tier hotels that have generic keycards. So I could already tell they werent up to Marriott standards. Hallway carpets horribly stained, elevator was slow and had a huge black mold spot in front of the door. Also with it being the south, you'd figure they'd fix the A/C in the lobby. Ive read past reviews saying the A/C was out, as of 06/23 the AC was still out. The first property I ever worked at was a Courtyard, so I knew what to expect. Being a Marriott Employee Im also used to not getting the best rooms. So naturally Im right next to the elevator, my room faces the road, and there's a pet room next door. It wasnt until after dinner where the pet was an issue and cried half the night while the owners were out. Road noise wasnt as bad as Id expect, aside from the occasional loud speakers from cars driving around. Ive never cared for the dark tones Courtyard uses either, it just makes the room look darker. All the amenities are there: Desk, USB/outlets by the bed, microwave, couch/bed, mini fridge. Also the standard courtyard layout with the king bed by the bathroom wall and couch by the window. A/C was set to 63, but that did not feel anything like 63. The thing was trying but since the hotel was hot from the lobby I guess it couldnt keep up. For a 1 night stay, the room did what I needed. Would I stay again? Just for the location. I dont think I would stay multiple nights though. This hotel could be so much better if they put more effort into it. From where it stands it seems they know they have a good location and thats all that matters. Lastly there's an $8 daily charge for parking. I get trying to keep unauthorized cars out of the parking lot for game day, but when campus is empty for summer? Also tax on the parking fee too? That made me laugh on...
Read moreThis Hotel charges $8+ per day for parking in their parking lot w/a reservation at this Hotel..Not to mention it is located in a high traffic curve, one way out & one way in. If you’re not going right Flo of traffic ..then please be cautious of oncoming traffic coming to get out this hotel parking lot.
The 2 white males at the front desk Evening & Morning shift are non-friendly, I was not greeted or felt welcomed upon arrival & departing. I ended both conversations with a Thank You have a great day and he said Umm Humm.😵💫 Speechless I was, how do you working in a customer service field with no customer service. Confused 😕
The roof top displayed with lights they stated was only for reserved guest. The firepit outside they stated did not work. Only one small elevator available for guest that smell really bad & very hot for guest to use that takes 1min. plus to arrive due to everyone from the 4th-1st floor is using it, the hotel check in & entry is located on the 2nd floor. They do not serve continental breakfast, you have to pay at their available restaurant inside. There are no vending machines only a store on the 7th floor for guest to pay extra convenient fees w/upcharge pricing. And of course no room service not even for towels you have to come to the front desk.😵💫
Last but not least The Room: It was HORRIBLE and I was informed I could not do a room change that the hotel was at full occupancy..But what I saw from my room was an empty parking lot out back.😵💫, (not saying that was not factual) stating only what I was told & what I seen. Now I am aware that guests arrivie later in the day but it seem far fetched in my opinion..The toilet ran continuously, wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The air conditioning was very loud & shaking throughout my 1 night stay. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND‼️paying $140 per night here, more like $80 or lessor. They false advertise online to reel you in to this poor service & poor quality hotel. Review your room & its entirety before accepting it if you do decide to stay is my advice. I was excited from the pictures and thought it was worth the price with the accommodations displayed online. Never Againn..I’ve had better &...
Read moreDue to the former reviews, I was reluctant about trying this hotel, but I really wanted to be closer to town and campus so I took a chance.|| The hotel is nothing what it used to be like apparently, and that's in a very good way. They are still doing some renovations ongoing, but it didn't impact the stay at all other than a few parkings spots were used for their staging area.|| The hotel lobby is really nice and a good placae to hang out. Check in was easy and friendly staff. || The room was big, very comfortable, great sleep quality and sockets on the tables next to the bed for charging, nice couch and you can reposition the TV and get a good view from either the bed or the couch.|| Walls currently are a bit bare, but I'm sure in time they might be adding to that.|| Small fridge and microwave behind a door at the end of the room, so they aren't out in the open and makes the room just look nicer having them hidden like that.|| My room wasn't properly made up and I found the ice bucket filled with water, no soap, no bags for ice, a dirty mirror and I found what looked like a dog chew toy on the floor behing the couch (I believe dogs are allowed as I heard some barking during my stay). That was my only issue and I let staff know and they were super nice about it. I even got contacted by the manager by email when I got home and they were inquiring more about the issue. So it's great to see that type of communication. I wasn't sure if this was a one off situtation or not as I normally never request housekeeping during my stays.|| Bothroom was a decent size, but do note the shampoo/body wash isn't tamper proof, or at least mine wasn't. So that was something I brought too by email. Just because there have been issues with tampering of those containers in hotels all over the world.|| The rest of the hotel has a small pool indoors in the basement, Starbucks cafe and possibly a bar? I often found it closed though as well as a few computers in the lobby with a printer.|| Great proximity to the school and downtown. Easy walking to both.|| If I find myself ever going back to Oxford, I'll be booking this...
