Not sure what the big deal is about this place. I mean it's cute, but they really don't seem to be trying. Maybe they are just resting on their reputation.
They do not have their full menu all day. There is no indication when they have their full menu. They seem to stop serving food some time in the morning. We came in around 10:30am in the middle of the week, and were told we are past breakfast hours. Ok, so what are those hours? They are not posted, and they are not online.
They had self serve drip coffee, and whatever pastries were in the case. The staff seemed genuinely annoyed to have customers. They reluctantly handed me a cup, and pointed me in the direction of the coffee. The pastries were fresh and buttery. Some of them were warm, others got a quick pass in a microwave and got up to about room temperature. The pastries were generally good, but a bit light on filling, and heavy on dough.
The drip coffee was good, not bitter or burnt, and was well...
Read moreIt's a shame that the service is so terrible because the pastries are great. I would go here more often if not for the fact that literally every time I've been here I have been charged more than I ordered, waited to order at least fifteen minutes AFTER I sat down, or given the wrong menu item. On one occasion, the waiter told me that they were out of the sandwich I ordered AS he was serving me a different sandwich completely. I have given this place a break multiple times, but I honestly cannot say that I would recommend anyone to go here simply because the wait staff has shown time and time again that they care for little for the customer. Today, I returned hoping that I would receive better service than I had in the past and I arrived home to find that the cashier had charged me for items that he did not even give me. It's so incredibly frustrating because I want to like Bottletree Bakery, but the service is...
Read moreRude service sign on door said they closed at noon. It was around 11, so we paid for 1 hr on parking meter. We intended to eat at the bakery & get a box of goodies for my daughter to take back to her dorm to share w/ the girls on her hall. The staff acted like they didn’t want to serve us?? I asked if they were closed, & she said no. I asked about getting a drink w/ my bagel & that seemed an inconvenience to her so, I asked for water - she motioned for me to get a bottle out of a galvanized tub full of water (which I’m sure was ice many hours ago). So, I asked for ice in a cup, we paid & left. No indoor brunch w/ my daughter & NO treats for the dorm… Not sure what the hype is about this place. Everyone in Oxford is so friendly & kind; please use your money in those...
