This museum is FREE! Free visitor parking is next to museum. This museum is 30 minutes East from I-55 if near Batesville, MS and definitely worth taking the time to visit. I really enjoyed this museum and the staff were very nice! There are no guided tours but they do have a small gift shop. And if you plan to visit the Rowan Oak (William Faulkner’s home) you must purchase souvenirs in this gift shop because there are none at the house. They have not set up a gift shop at the home. They have a very nice quilt collection and Roman and Greek art. The largest in southwestern USA. I was surprised to see a collection of bust of early Roman emperors like Tiberius, Marcus Aurelius, Agrippa the elder, Head of Emperor Augustus et al bequeath by David M. Robinson, 1958. I loved the quilts and several reminded me of the ones made by my neighbor when I was a young g girl. There is a very large collection; 2 galleries. There is a collection if art by M.B. Mayfield and Theora Hamblett plus various American artist. I highly recommend visiting this museum is you are a lover of museums and what they have to offer!!!

This FREE museum is a great place to experience the arts of ancient history & today. Take Bailey's Trail for a 20 minute leisurely stroll to Rowan Oak, William Faulkner's historic home.

A Gem of Cultural and Artistic Treasure. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the University of Mississippi Museum, and it was an exceptional experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in culture, history, and art.

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the museum's inviting atmosphere and the breadth of its collections. The museum is beautifully laid out, with well-organized exhibits that are both informative and visually appealing. The attention to detail in the presentation of each exhibit is evident, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

The museum houses a diverse range of collections, from ancient artifacts to modern art. One of the standout exhibits is the David M. Robinson Memorial Collection of Greek and Roman Antiquities, which is one of the finest of its kind in the South. The artifacts are well-preserved and displayed with detailed descriptions that provide fascinating insights into ancient civilizations.

In addition to its classical collections, the museum also features an impressive array of American art, including works by renowned artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Maurer. The changing exhibitions ensure that there is always something new and exciting to see, making each visit unique.

The staff at the University of Mississippi Museum are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They are always ready to answer questions and provide additional information about the exhibits. Their passion for the museum and its collections is evident and adds a personal touch to the visit.

The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and events for both children and adults. These programs are well-designed and provide valuable learning experiences that enhance the appreciation of art and history. The museum's commitment to education and community engagement is commendable.

The facilities are well-maintained, and the museum is easily accessible. The grounds surrounding the museum are beautiful, offering a peaceful environment to stroll and reflect after exploring the exhibits.

In summary, the University of Mississippi Museum is a cultural gem that offers a rich and varied collection of art and artifacts. The beautifully curated exhibits, knowledgeable staff, and engaging educational programs make it a must-visit...

It’s a nice place to go if you’re a student. Admission is free, it’s not too far a walk from the main part of campus, and most of the time it’s pretty empty and quiet. I’ve come here for school assignments and personal trips and have enjoyed...
