Overall this place was okay with a few issues here and there. If you aren't a fan of black pepper I highly recommend skipping this place as all of their items are heavily peppered, including the mash potatos, gravy and mac & cheese, these were the only things I tried and they were all very heavy on the black pepper. This place is also not wheelchair accessible, the aisles are too small and the bathroom would be almost impossible to use. I tried the country fried steak which had a delicious breading but a very thin amount of beef on the inside. The beef was 1/3 of the entire steak, the rest was breading. It came with brown gray which was good. We tried the chopped steak which apparently took the kitchen about 40 minutes to make, at that time we already had two rounds of people at the table next to us eat and leave before we even got our food. The chopped steak was good but served well done. There was little onion on it and was served with the brown gravy. The overall taste of the meat had a nice char flavor. The choped steak came with Large crinkle fries which were really good and crispy, they were lightly seasoned with salt. As for the sides I thought the grits were terrible, they tasted like dirty water and were water logged. I think they used margarine in the grits instead of real butter making the grits taste almost chemically. The macaroni and cheese had a really good cheese flavor, but the shells were overcooked and mushy. The cheese was smooth and creamy but also heavily peppered with black pepper which I didn't enjoy, if the pepper was less I would definitely have enjoyed this more. I tried the mashed potatos and the texture was okay, but again heavily black peppered which I do not prefer, it also tasted like they had put some pork sausage grease in it. The cornbread is jalapeño only so if you have an allergy you are SOL and have to get a roll instead. There is tooth picks hanging from the ceiling which is weird and gross in my opinion, I just sat there wondering if they would fall on someone. The place is definitely stuffy and has mold on the ceiling, so if you have a mold allergy I recommend not visiting.

If you’re looking for a true taste of Southern comfort food with impeccable service, Ajax is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was beyond exceptional—warm, attentive, and welcoming. We tried the fried catfish po’ boy and the chicken tenders, and wow, they were incredible! Both were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. The portions were absolutely huge, giving us a true bang for our buck. The sides were a dream—perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. I had the five and beans, mac and cheese, cheesy grits, and cornbread, and every single bite was pure Southern bliss. By the end of the meal, I was completely full and couldn’t stop raving about it. Ajax has now secured a spot in my top five Southern restaurants, even among all the gems we’ve tried during our travels through the Deep South. The souvenir cup was a great touch and will always remind me of this amazing experience. Highly recommend Ajax for anyone craving authentic Southern food done right!

This place does things differently. They have AC. I'm not saying that's what makes them different. What makes them stand out is that they advertise their AC. Their front door says, "air conditioned". I'd hope that most restaurants have AC, but I guess you can never be too sure. When I was eating here, I noticed myself focusing on the AC more than usual. Honestly, I think Ajax Diner has better AC than most other restaurants. I wish more restaurants advertised the basics. Ajax Diner should take it a step further and advertise how they have drinkable water and chairs for sitting. If a restaurant advertised only their AC, water, and chairs in a commercial, I'd 100% try that place. Anyway, that's not the only thing this place does differently. They also served our food before our drinks, which I kind of preferred. It makes sense to get some food in your stomach before you start boozing. Ajax Diner was looking out for us. Overall, my friend and I had a great time. The food was delicious and the AC was world class.

**AJAX OF OXFORD HAS NO RESPECT FOR THEIR COSTUMERS!!!!!! *THEY DO NOT EVEN DESERVE THE ONE STAR THAT I WAS FORCED TO GIVE IN ORDER TO DO THIS REVIEW!!

UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, BELLIGERANT,ASININE, HAS ABSOLUTLY NO ACCOUNTABILITYFOR SELF BUT CALL HIMSELF AN OWNER, RANDY

I FEEL BAD FOR HIS STAFF AND HIS WIFE IF HE EVEN HAS ONE FOR HAVING TO DEAL WITH SUCH STUPIDITY!

This was my first time ever ordering from this place, and I was disgusted with the way I was treated by the OWNER! The owner caught and attitude with me when I was asking a simple question about the prices not being the same as online. MIND YOU MY CARD HAD ALREADY BEEN CHARGED! He told me that that was not his menu, although it was under his restaurant information on google and all the food on the online menu was what he offered in store. He said that his price was his price and that he had nothing to do with what went on online. He then proceeded to get loud with me, over the phone! He never even had the decency to come out of his office and speak with me the way a proper owner should! I asked him why did he have an attitude with me and I'm only going by the information given online as well as what the worker told me over the phone. He continuously tried to speak over me and got upset over his mistake and yell at me to go and eat somewhere else!! I asked him his name and he refused to tell me HE wasn't telling me anything because he didn't deserve to know and then hung up on me! I HAD TO FIND OUT HIS NAME FROM A WORKER!! Not only did he disrespect a first time costumer, he expressed to me that I was not welcome at his establishment! He made me feel like he was racist to inquiring voices NOW, I DO NOT MIND PAYING FOR A MEAL AT ALL, I DO BELIEVE YOU PUT FORTH PROPER INFORMATION IN ORDER TO GIVE THE COSTUMER A RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT WHAT THEY WILL PAY UPFRONT!! (Side Note: I just went to Ruth Kris in Nashville TN over the weekend and spent $150 on great food and even better costumer service! I enjoyed giving that money along with a $10 dollar tip to every worker that assisted, leading me to spend $60 more that the meal given! This price does not matter to me if the service from the staff is worth it!!) I am a business owner myself as well as help to run a multibillion dollar corporation. This IS NOT A WAY TO TREAT ANY COSTUMER NO MATTER WHAT ISSUE MAY ARISE! I do not think AJAX of Oxford MS even deserves 1 star because the attitude of the owner RANDY OR RANDELL or whoever he is. THIS PLACE WAS GARBAGE AND VERY UNORGANIZED IN...
