We visited this hotel in 2022 and 2023. It is new, no smell in the rooms and corridors, clean. The rooms are quite big and nice, with very comfortable and high mattresses. They have a fridge and a microwave. They have mini DOVE toiletries, which is great. There is no problem with water pressure or plumbing like the hotels right in Page. There is a large parking lot.
Location and surroundings are perfect, you can walk to the canyon view. Walmart, McDonald's, Horseshoe Bend... are just a short drive away.
There is a coffee machine, which in my experience with the Baymont hotel network should be available 24/7. But there was no thermos of coffee every night of the 3 nights we stayed there.
There is no daily maid service, if you want a thorough cleaning you have to request it a day in advance at the front desk.
A big minus is the price of laundry - $4.50 to wash, $4.50 to dry. During our road trip in May we stayed in 10 hotels, everywhere, but here it was $2.00.
Another minus - cleaning... The very first night someone spilled something in the elevator and on the lobby floor. It was not just a drop. It was still not cleaned up on the 4th day when we checked out.
Several years ago I was used to a nice welcome smile and hi from the front desk personnel in most hotels/motels when checking in. This is no longer the case. In recent years it has become sterile reception with "sterile" people handing us keys and paper with instructions, just asking us to sign a paper and go.
Breakfast - I am not sure if Baymont saves money by having only one person serve breakfast. The lady was extremely stressed, constantly she had to fill breakfast options, fill coffee, juice. Cleaning desks, cleaning always full trash cans. There was always something missing, or the bin was full, or there was no place to sit because guests left dozens of unfinished items along with plates. The trash can was disgusting, covered with spilled coffee, juice, sugar, etc.
There seems to be a lot of seating, but we had no place to sit 2 out of 3 times. One time we went outside and sat next to the guy who was smoking an e-cigarette, which is forbidden, but no one was there to stop him.
I know plastic still seems to be the standard. Juice cups, cutlery, bread jam peanut butter little cups. All plastic. But plates are already paper. Anyway, everything goes in the same bin, I do not know if someone will sort it later and recycle it properly.
There was another strange thing. Ice machine on the ground floor. It was written there that you cannot use this ice to fill your own car ice box. That was the first...
Read moreOf the Wyndham properties I've stayed at, Baymont is not my favorite, but it was fine enough for the price. Location is great, the room was clean (the tub was so clean it looked brand new), and the service was fine. My takeaways:
-The mattress is firm (it's not my preference) -Pillows are super soft -AC works really well -Shower temperature takes a minute to heat up, but reaches the temperature of the sun and that's perfect for me. Also they have those massaging shower heads with like 8 settings. AMAZING. -Standard scratchy towels -Little bitty dove shampoo and conditioner (that's a plus, I love dove) -I didn't hear my neighbors at all, so the walls are not paper thin -Location is walking distance to an overlook of the dam -Breakfast was aaaaawful. It was your standard set up: scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and bacon (as well as a selection of cereals, oatmeal, pastries, bagels, yogurts, and a waffle machine). All the prepackaged stuff was fine, but the eggs, potatoes, and bacon left a lot to be desired. The eggs were greyish, very spongy, and smelled like old sulphur. The bacon was paper thin and had very little flavor, and the potatoes tasted like uncooked dough. Loved the strawberry waffles though.
Overall I probably wouldn't stay here again unless it were the cheapest option (but mostly so I could explore the...
Read moreThis Baymont opened in April of 2018, so it was almost brand new when we stayed there. Baymont Hotels are owned by Wyndham, which also owns Microtel, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8, and Travelodge, among others. Not all Baymont Hotels are created equal as we learned when we stayed at some other Baymonts. We had a pleasant stay here and thought Baymonts were all like this and pretty much standard. Not so. It is the people and the local franchiser who make or break your stay. Local franchisers set local standards and what will be upgraded or not, so plan stays accordingly. This hotel is an exception. It was nice and new, featuring an upgraded breakfast with a waffle machine and eggs, in a large comfortable breakfast area. Parking is free and ample and outside doors are secured with the key card. I saw no evidence of security personnel. There was a guest laundry, and a small area where snacks and necessities are sold near the front desk. There is a gym and an indoor pool with mechanical lifts for those who need assistance. Plus a hot tub. Enclosed hallways with an elevator for upper level rooms. Free Wifi, but it is not secure. And a small business center. This hotel is smoke free and not pet friendly. The front desk people were happy to help. We did like this hotel and may...
