Pros: Location, price, friendly staff Cons: Appearance; dark and dingy outdated rooms
Location: Hotel is in town center, with close driving proximity to Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam, Horseshoe Bend, and the upper and lower Antelope Canyons.
We booked this hotel as it was one of the most affordable ones in this expensive (hotel prices) tourist town. Travelodge is also a known chain so we thought it would be reliable. IT WAS...but it definitely is in need of quite a bit of TLC.
Pros: It's in the center of town, on the main road, near restaurants. It's affordable. (compared to hotels around it, but still pricey because of location) It has a pool, which is great as it gets super hot. Ample parking. Room has mini fridge and microwave. Laundry room. Comes in handy especially when most of the people who come here are sweaty and dirty from their hike. Free breakfast, although breakfast is super basic. Bread, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, cold hard boiled egg. Friendly staff. Free WiFi - but I could not get it to work on my iPhone...so maybe it's a CON. Hmm...
Cons: Needs a lot of updating. You wouldn't want to walk barefoot in your room. Although I know housekeeping is on top of it, the sheer appearance makes you cringe...because it's old and worn. Bathroom is also old with specs and cracks here and there. Toilet flush is WEAK. Window curtain does not fully cover and leaves a crack at the edge. Perhaps the very dated feel also makes it feel like it's not as clean as it really is.
Since rooms are facing outward, you get a lot of noise.
Our king sized bed only came with 3 small pillows. I'm sure they might have provided more upon request, but there should be a minimum ratio of 2 pillows per person, one for the head, and one to hold - especially for side sleepers like me.
If you're just looking for a place to crash, and want to spend as little as possible, this...
Read moreWent out west on a road trip with my dad a few weeks ago, we had a rough plan of the things we wanted to do and see but weren't sure when we would be there. We camped, stayed in hotels, whenever we decided to call it a night. We happened upon the Travelodge in/near Lake Powell, AZ. The plan was to stay one night, go see Antelope Valley Lower Canyon the next day and keep going. Our tour had to be rescheduled because of power outages, so we stayed at this Travelodge for 2 more days. The staff was AMAZINNNNGGGGGG!! Very friendly, super accommodating, one of the lovely ladies (I don't know who because I didn't have my contacts in) brought me a piece of cake and balloon up to the room on my birthday (that my mom had ordered and delivered)- they were great!! We would have stayed more days if we weren't going to a bunch of other places.
Jennette, Destine, K.J., Kayla, y'all were FANTASTIC and if we end up in Lake Powell again we will DEFINITELY stay with you!!!
My 5 stars are for the STAFF, because they deserve it, but Wyndham Properties needs to help with repairs ASAP. The one and only washing machine was broken the whole time, there are too many people who fill up their coolers with ice so other guests aren't able to get any because of people abusing it. The last day we were there the front desk required them to walk to the laundry/ice area and unlock it for us, which was a great idea. The pool was great, the rooms were clean but dated, some of the carpet was coming up. That is NOT the staff's responsibility, and Wyndham needs to make sure ALL of the properties are maintained and cared for.
Again, 5 stars for the amazing staff, but Wyndham needs to step in and make sure they take care of their properties. Hope to see y'all again in...
Read moreI don't want to leave a bad review as I've been a Wyndham customer for the last 4 years now and always love staying at their hotels but this particular experience was a horrible one for me, and the fact that the hotel staff have not been helpful adds to the insult. This location has terrible walls and roofs and you can hear all kinds of sounds from you upstairs room which makes it difficult to sleep and sometimes it's even disgusting if you know what I mean. I stayed in room #120 on Dec 28th with my wife and we could't sleep throughout the night due to the loud noise (both walking/pacing and all kinds of creaking sounds) coming from the upstairs room until about 1 am in the night and started again from 4:30 am in the morning. I called the front desk to complain at 11pm in the night but nothing changed, and when I told them again at 7 am while checking out I was offered a 50% discount. Not after 2 weeks and not receiving any discount I followed-up with them, and that's when I was told they have no record of that discount being offered though the person on call said they see my complaint. Not after 2 more days, I receive an email from them saying they don't see any complaint from my room that day at all and they are offering me 25% discount. This is very unprofessional as they are indirectly saying that I am lying about the incident whereas they should've been proactive about resolving my complaint (which never happened) and about registering it in their system. I am never going to recommend this hotel to anyone and this experience has made the whole Wyndham experience very sour for me and I am re-evaluating where to stay with the brand again if this is how they handle their...
