In our search for a place to stay while visiting Page and its extraordinary places to visit, we decided for the Sleep Inns & Suites at Lake Powel – and were we pleasantly surprised. In an out of the way location – not to say Page is backward, it was extraordinarily surprisingly good, especially it’s closeness to everything. Having the opportunity to regularly stay over many accommodations across and occasionally outside the country, not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler - but as a primarily pleasure and needs wanderer, I have developed as what I believe is my concise method for scoring the worthiness of each hotel visited. First off I have to say, I was not impressed by their customer service and professionalism. It was also very convenient in jaunts through and around Page. Yet, I have to stick with My criteria are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score 4.0 2) convenient and safe parking [Score 3.5]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:3.5]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score:3.0]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score:4.0]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score:3.5]. Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates an above average 3.5. Most positive points at this hotel is: a re-emphasis on staff’s cordiality, attention to detail and interest as one as an individual. Most negative points found here are: few and far between. My price to value to overall assessment, an economical place where you are relatively comfortable and feel somewhat...

Read morePluses and Minuses-the facility was new and fresh. The king bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job of providing a clean room. The bathroom was roomy and had an elegant stand containing a sink that was basically flat at the bottom so it drained slowly leaving residue in the sink. The bathroom was also bereft of hooks and towel rods, despite extensive vacant wall space where these items could be mounted. There were only two hooks on the back of the door that were for the most part useless. The mountain view we supposedly had was the end of a building under construction draped in green plastic. We could also see part of the Denny's restaurant two buildings over. As for ice we were in a room on the extreme end of the building. The sign for "ice" when finally located pointed to the opposite end of the building. However when that point was reached there was no ice machine. We finally figured out it was through the exit door. There was, as requested, a fridge in the room but no freezer compartment for our cold packs. The staff at the desk did agree to store them in their freezer so they would be ready when we departed. A new and well equipped facility should have the amenity of a freezer compartment in the room fridge. The staff were courteous and business like. We had requested a ground floor room due to age and traveling in a 20 year old soft top Jeep Wrangler-easy to break into so we could monitor it during the stay. We were put on the top (3rd) floor far from our vehicle. A comparable room was available but we would be charged a $350 change fee-obviously we stayed on the 3rd floor. There were multiple (5) luggage carts and an elevator available so, schlepping our luggage to the room presented no problem. Our stay was very expensive but that is life in Page. In summary the facility needs an ergonomics professional to make it more user friendly, but it was clean and comfortable and staffed by pleasant and helpful...
