My wife, my infant, and I stayed here for 1 night during our stay in the Poconos region. I didn't love my experience at this hotel and I would not be gung-ho about staying here again. These are some of the things I did not like about the place: At the breakfast the following morning, I was a little surprised to see paper plates. But even more so, there was a bit of motel feel in the breakfast area that perhaps I hadn't expected at a Hampton Inn. What annoyed me more were the timings of the breakfast. On a weekend, it does make sense in my view to have the breakfast stay open for longer than 10 a.m. But even if that isn't the case, it makes sense to replenish items on the buffet at least until 10 a.m. - the stated time until which the breakfast stays open. However, I found that the pancake mix had finished by around 9:25 a.m. and the person dealing with it, seemed unperturbed by that fact. That is unacceptable. When we were unloading our luggage, we were somewhat inconvenienced by the complete lack of luggage carts in the check-in area. Given that it was late in the evening and we had a 4-month old infant with us, it would have been nice to have had some help but unfortunately there was none. And lastly, the entrance to the hotel is a bit hard to find. One can see the hotel as one is driving on Nazareth Rd. but the entrance isn't located on Nazareth Rd. itself. One has to take a right turn on Nazareth Rd. (we were coming from Milford Beach) and then look around a bit before one comes across the entrance to the hotel. Now as I was writing the review, I chatted with my wife to see what her impressions of the place were and they were much more favorable than mine. Her reference point is a Hampton Inn in NYC that she travels to occasionally for work and compared to that she liked this hotel. In her view, there were a number of healthy options in the breakfast area that she liked (smoothies and yoghurt for example) and she also found the room to be well-equipped with tables and chairs in order to keep our stuff. But because this is my review - and not hers - my view is that a restaurant which charges $164 a night in the Poconos (and not in Manhattan) should have all of the features which my wife liked and not have the shortcomings that I listed. That therefore justifies my 3-star review, i.e. a pretty average place and not a place that I would feel enthusiastic about...
Read moreBooked a block for my wedding this past weekend 10/24-10/25 The front desk staff was super helpful and kind no matter what hour it was. The rooms themselves for very nice, and clean.
everyone who booked in our block were put on all different floors, which wasn’t a huge deal just not what I was expecting.
The issue was the bar tender the night of the wedding 10/25. I’d spoken with Margret Bird months prior and was given permission to have a small after party in the hotel bar. I was told the bar would remain open until 2am so long as rules were followed. It was a very quiet after party, and it dwindled down around 1am. the only people in the bar at this point was myself (the bride) my husband and about 8-9 friends.
The bartender had three people sitting with her at the bar, I’m not sure if they were employees or personal friends as they had no hotel identification or uniform on. One of the men with her, took it upon himself to dig into our boxes and eat the pizza and donuts my husband and I bought for our guests. When confronted about it he got mad, cursed at us and said we were wasting it anyway and pointed out some trash around the bar before sitting back with the bartender.
When one our wedding guests asked the bartender herself for some water, the bartender was clearly annoyed to be asked for anything else. Stating things like “JUST water??? That’s it’s??” And “I need to get home to my kids” clearly she wanted to shut the bar down, mind you it’s still just around 1am, and we were told it could still be open for another hour. At this point we felt incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome as we were being stared at my the bartenders group. At this point we called it a night and left.
I’ve planned this stay/after party for months so I would hope the employee was made aware of the situation ahead of time. Also incredibly rude and gross to allow your friends to go through someone else’s belongings/food. Honestly if they would’ve asked I would’ve been happy to share.
Hope this is actually taken care of and not overlooked so no other newlyweds...
Read moreI love this forum . I find it interesting that SOME hotels have 2 reviews from 2024. I do stay here 2x a year . I enjoyed our visit at this hotel. We found the employees to be very cheerful and we enjoyed the mints, popcorn and delicious unique flavored cookies at night. Our air conditioning worked perfect. I just feel bad that it was on the whole time. I did turn it off t o give it a break but the room was warm in 30 min .The ice machine kept up with the summer heat . For breakfast, the choices are pretty much the same. But I did enjoy the different waffle flavors, which I'm sure everybody did, which made a big line . Big kudos to the crew of the breakfast, because if you got there at 6 or at a quarter to 10, everything was always filled up and it looks as if it just was opened for the day.| Just a reminder to the crew to wipe the edges of the table for the syrup from those waffles which are a big hit. I found the drinks in the dispenser tasted it a little off to me. So I only enjoyed 2 out of the four. To get a 5 star for me there needs to be a little more attention to detail.Elevator wasn't always clean, sticky floor and corners in room . The staff did an excellent job of emptying the garbage. | It was quiet. There is a lot of outlets in the room. And very The pool in the summer was somewhat alike that's not to my preference and the bottom looked like it could be cleaned a little bit more period I would like them to put in a little bit larger garbages in the room for those people who are staying more than 7 days. The small ones fill up with 2 water bottles.|And I noticed that the curves in the front of the building are not handicap or with luggage friendly. There was no indent to get down or...
