My husband and I are retired individuals. We are also long time cigarette smokers. We are very conscientious about infringing on non smokers, not leaving butts on the ground and we have not smoked in a hotel room for years. We saved for a few years to take a car touring vacation of our Western United States. We were gone 21 days and stayed in 14 different hotels and this is the only location we had a problem with. On our way back to our home state, we stopped in Las Vegas to meet up with one of our daughters who was visiting for a friends birthday. We stayed in the Best Western Mccarron Inn which is an airport location. We stayed two nights. When we arrived, I asked if there was a smoking area for guest and was told I could smoke outside any exit door. There was also an ashtray/trashcan and a bench in the front stationed away from the front doors. The 1st morning, we had our coffee and morning cigarette at the bench in the front of hotel, well away from the doors. The 2nd morning ashtray/trashcan had been removed. On this same morning, we tried to enter the front doors and they would not open. When my husband tried to open doors with his fingertips, they yelled at him accusing him of trying to break their door. When I asked why we were locked out, we were told they were trying to keep the homeless out. Again, this is the airport location. It is very very busy at 7am. Breakfast was being served. Their little shuttle van was constantly dropping off guest and bringing new ones in. We had been there for 2 days and they didn't recognize us and locked us out of the front door cuz they thought we were homeless. We were made to feel like 2nd class citizens. When we got home, I checked my credit card bill and I had been over charged. My 2 night stay was $238.00 plus I was being charged a $280.00+ penalty on top of that. When I called to ask why my bill was so high, I was told we were being charged for smoking in the room. THIS NEVER HAPPENED! If you smoke in a room, normal procedure is to take the room out of circulation for no more than 1 night to ventilate room and get it back on the market. Most hotels say it only takes a few hours and the don't lose any revenue. The reason I know this is because our daughter works for Best Western. Smoking in the room would never happen. All of our reservations go thru her with the family rate she is able to give us and we would never do anything to embarrass her or jeopardize her job. It took me almost 6 mths to get the dispute closed. I did get refund but it was a very stressful time not knowing if they were going to get away this fraud. AND IT WAS STRAIGHT UP FRAUD. The smoking never happened. I was highly insulted with this accusation and the way we were treated while we were there. People be very careful at this location if you are a smoker. As old as I am, this is the worst experience I have ever had...
Read moreI chose this hotel because it offered a free airport shuttle. Little did I know but the shuttle is closed from 2 to 4 pm, the exact times I needed it for both my arrival and departure dates. The rooms are not sound proof either, from any commotion in the hall to planes flying overhead. I’ve stayed at hotels on airport properties before and never heard a peep. So, you get what you get for a 2-star hotel. There’s no option to mirror or airplay from your phone either, so bring a stick or converter cord. Also no streaming services are loaded into the TV. You’re stuck with live tv options or limited On Demand. Overall the room was sufficient, ask for one without carpet, if you can. Mine had newer non-carpet flooring, which was a plus for me. Not much nearby, the Arco gas station is very high-priced. The taco spot is decent and cheap. Also, there is a long table in the middle of the main walkway from the lobby to the rooms, making it difficult to navigate with luggage or even just trying to get in/out. It’s a small detail, but I found it to be very annoying! Most of the staff, though, are very nice and hard-working. But next time I’m in Vegas, I’ll find a better option. If you do stay here, be prepared to spend $$ on transportation to anywhere you want to go.
One thing to add (editing my review with this comment). I requested a late check out. Here’s why I said most staff are friendly. Sharon at the front desk, rather curtly, said no. When I emerged to check out at 12:00, it was clear to me that housekeeping was still cleaning other rooms, I asked again, again dealt with Sharon, who again informed me no. When I pointed out that housekeeping was still in the process of cleaning other rooms, she practically shouted at me no saying her manager said no late check outs! I’m not sure this is the best way to treat a guest. Especially in front of other guests. Now please remember all other staff were friendly. In fact Sharon may have just had a problem with me as she seemed friendly to other guests. I wasn’t being rude. It was a simple request. Instead of shouting at me like I’m a child who was misbehaving, perhaps impart a kinder tone. Or maybe I’m just the crazy one. I don’t know. I’m glad to leave now. Bye and I will not...
Read moreI’m literally only giving this hotel 3 stars and not 1, because of Ricky at the front desk. I give him 5 stars. The hotel is not the worst hotel in the world, but for the price, I would definitely go anywhere else. The lobby is very pretty downstairs, but after walking around and visiting the room, you can tell that that’s where all the money goes, just into making the lobby look nice. The bedrooms are in serious need of an upgrade. The beds were so uncomfortable, I went down and cancelled the next 2 of my 3 night stay, as soon as I sat on it. Not to mention the terrible back pain I woke up with. I had a 2 queen bed “suite” that is suppose to sleep 5+ with only 4 pillows that were about the size of couch cushions. The room was clean, I will give them that. But it so badly needs new carpet/bedding/everything, that it looked dingy. The shutters were nice, but only side stood closed so we had to deal with that Vegas sun bright and early since there were no curtains. The bathroom was very small and the floors desperately need a deep cleaning. You can hear airplanes taking off, which is to be expected, I did not feel like I noticed the sound enough for it to be annoying, so that was nice. The parking is open to the street and there are homeless people that sleep in the back, so I would try to park my car in the front. The guests staying here right now were also a reason for leaving early. I’m aware that the hotel has no control over certain things, but there were people with their children running around in towels, not fully dressed, letting their infants run around barefoot, and even guests themselves not properly dressed/half naked. Just absolute trash staying at these hotels right now. Go somewhere else. But shoutout to Ricky! He was a joy to work with and he made the experience a lot better as much...
