Just stayed 3 nights Thursday - Sunday.
My review is based on what they offer as what was received during my stay.
Yes parking is an added fee. As a World of Hyatt Explorist, I was surprised to see $20 for parking via app add on. Just skip this and have them add it at check in which saves you an extra $2/day. Parking is $18/day. No idea why they charge more to add it on in the app via virtual check in. You might be able to just park and not tell them you have a car since it shares a huge parking lot with a neighboring building. But that's up to you if you want to risk towing. I didn't see anyone checking parking papers on the dashboard nor saw any towing. Try to save $18/day at your own risk with that.
The location is right across from UNLV. Very good imo since I wanted to be close to the airport and off strip to avoid strip traffic. Planes fly almost directly above so they provide ear plugs next to the bed. Honestly I didn't hear them from my room on the 2nd floor even without ear plugs. But I was always heavy in conversation, TV on, or deep sleep. CVS, 7 Eleven, White Castles, 420 dispensary, strip club, vegan restaurant, and LGBTQ friendly club all basically across the street but in different directions. It was a short quick drive to all my desired locations. 10 mins to Fashion Show Mall and Wynn. Less then 20 minutes to Fremont Street. Less than 10 mins to the airport car rental. About 7 minutes to the airport. No airport shuttle to/from hotel.
Breakfast was available. It's something but don't expect a buffet spread. Yogurt. Toast. Bagels. Bread. Fruit. Eggs. Hash browns. Sausage. Cereals. I used it as a quick snack on the way to breakfast at Truffles and Bacon. A 15 min drive away. The only problem I had with breakfast is that they took away the food at 910 when the time says until 930. I asked if it was 9 or 930 and they answered 9 as they put all the food away with guests still trickling around to grab something. All the signs and TV in the room state 930am ending of breakfast.
The rooms were spacious. I had a King bed and couch with a pull out bed. Couch is a little bigger than a normal 3 person sofa bed. TV was in the middle so I could watch from couch or bed. But the TV was messed up. Picture shown. Discolored. Bed and pillows were comfy but due to the carpeted room and dirty vents, my dust allergies bothered me. I would say it's super dusty but rather every inch wasn't tended to. But if you have allergies like me, be prepared to sniffle while in the room. My other guests had no problem in the room.
They don't tend to rooms unless asked. So you won't get new towels or any sheet flips unless you ask. I saw it written down at check in. Staff is super friendly all around. Even when they pulled down breakfast early they were all approachable and helpful. Just minus pulling it way before time.
The gym is there yet quite small. But it's something. Just don't expect 24 hour fitness. However you can keep up with a little workout in the space.
I planned for the pool but didn't make it. Looked clean though.
They have water fountains on the first floor. Water in the gym. Infused water in the lobby as specific times. I caught it late nights.
Then they offer $6 bottles of water in the rooms.
Not the best but great for what it is. Only marked off basically for breakfast closing earlier than stated as well as the...
Read moreI called the hotel on Thursday the day before my check in to see if they offered early check in. The receptionist stated I just had to call in the morning to reserve my room. I asked if they offered shuttle service from the airport to the hotel she said yes and to call in the morning to request a pick up. We arrived in Vegas at 7:30am I called the hotel at 7:47am for a pickup they said they would send someone right over to me. We waited where we were told to and at 8am the drive speed right by us and never stopped. I figured he'd be back around, nope he didn't come back. At 8:15am I called the hotel again and let them know I was still waiting for a pick up. It was the same person from my first call she said no worries he'll be there shortly just to wait. We waited till 9:15am which is when I put in another call to the hotel. This time Michelle stated no one had ever put us down to be picked up. I said so I've been waiting here for nothing. She apologized and said that she would send the drive right over and that he'd be by in about 15 minutes. 35 minutes later he did show up. We get to the hotel and I asked for early check in which they gave me. The room was clean but it only had a third of a roll of toilette paper, so I tried to call the front desk to have someone send us some more. 2 phones in our room and neither worked had to send my daughter to get us a roll. The next morning Saturday we get up and go about our day. We arrive back at the hotel at 1pm and our room was still not cleaned. I informed one of the employees in the hallway of this issue and he said someone would be over to clean the room shortly. So we decided to go hang out at the pool to give the cleaning person some time to clean it. We went back in at 330pm and the room was still not done. So I went to the front desk and asked if they could have someone clean our room. It was finally cleaned at 6pm. The next morning we get up and take our showers. One of the towels that were put on the rack of clean towels was a towel we had used the day before. My youngest daughter had red lipstick on her hand and had wiped it on the corner of the towel, same exact location and color. Wow. On Sunday morning we get up to shower and the water was ice cold, no hot water at all. The hotel staff stated they had no hot water. What? In a hotel full of guest? Not to mention that the heater in their pool was broken so that water was ice cold. We decide to hang out at the pool and we did not find any towels. Someone went to ask for more towels and was told they had no more towels available at all. No shower towels and no pool towels. Most of the staff had attitudes the whole time we were there and didn't like that we would ask for things. The only helpful people in this hotel are Michelle, Jonathan, Laura and the Hispanic male shuttle bus driver. (Sorry didn't catch his name) I would not recommend anyone staying in this place. The service and staff are horrible. Don't forget your ear plugs being that this place is so close to the airport every little while you hear the rumbling of the planes as they...
Read moreI was not overly impressed with this particular location. I initially gave it a glowing review because my issues were seemingly resolved/addressed quickly; however, the stay at this hotel was a hassle and was anything but relaxing.
During check-in we had issues with the reservation(s). The Gallery Hosts resolved the issues within about 20 minute, at least for the most part. The ladies were helpful and friendly which was great. It was downhill from here, unfortunately.
Housekeeping was a joke. Housekeeping didn't arrive to the room until around 5:00 PM each day, rarely replaced (or didn't)used coffee mugs, used glasses and even towels. The housekeeping removed our soiled towels on the floor (all bathroom towels), yet failed to replace the towels. We had our used coffee cups sitting on the counter for two days before I went to the desk and had to ask for replacements.
My check-in issues creeped back up again later on in my stay and I received an erroneous folio and was told that it "shouldn't" be an issue, yet the host didn't want to look into it to verify that it wasn't going to be an issue. I inquired about using points against my folio and the host said it could happen and to let someone know the next day (at checkout) that I wanted to use my points and that he okayed it. Unfortunately, this was a false expectations, as the hotel cannot apply points, only customer service can.
The breakfast was mediocre at best. Most of the cooked food was dry and inedible. The cereal was fine, as was the yogurt, but that's about as far as it went.
I won't bore you with the additional issues with my stay. I'll get to the amenities of the location that were actually nice:
FREE shuttle to/from Airport FREE shuttle to/from The Strip (Planet Hollywood) Off the strip, which is much quieter Across the street from Hard Rock Hotel/Casino Near convenience store for snacks and essentials Great food nearby About 1 mile from LAS Free breakfast (quality may vary)
Overall, I am highly disappointed in this particular Hyatt Place. I stay with HP often during my travels (Boise, Honolulu, Salt Lake City, Reno and Sacramento), and this is by far the worst experience I've had. The hotel is undergoing renovations, and this is an excuse the hotel management uses to overcome the poor service; however, when I stayed in Sacramento during renovations, the staff was pleasant and the experience was great.
YMMV with this hotel, but based on my experience I will likely never visit again. I may give it a few years when the hotel has switched out staff and management, but in the next year or two I do not plan to stay here...
