I don't know why Motel 6 has gone to this God awful modernized look in their rooms but its very sterile and uninviting. The previous room style felt cozy and the beds were much for comfortable. Now, the rooms seem like you're sleeping in someone’s pool house. Comfortable recliner like chairs are replaced with what feels like something I would have sat on in High School. My computer screen is larger than the TV screen in the room. Foe wood floors. No carpet. No rug. Something about taking your shoes off and being able to have the comfort of carpet on the feet just isn’t found with vinyl. I realize this isn’t 5 star accommodations. But I do know that the previous design of your rooms were much more cozy and accommodated the basic comforts of the traveler. Now it feels like a room you have to settle for rather than an inviting place to stay. I may not like it but I can still sleep and get up the next day and move on right? We booked the room at noon that day. We checked in at 9PM. The room was somewhere between 90F and 100F. They can't be so dense to not understand that their building is hit by the sun almost all day. I know saving money is important. But, knowing the situation, they could have had the foresight to turn on the air conditioning in the rooms they knew were booked. Instead, the a/c was off and our room was like an oven. It literally took our breath. It took SEVEN HOURS for the room to cool down. We rolled around and sweat in the bed. There was no sleeping. The air conditioner worked, but it blows air up and not across the room. So basically, it was blowing cold air up at the ceiling... causing the hot air (that rises) to come down in the room. That caused 7 hours worth of heat torture. We took showers to try to cool down. There is no water pressure and very little control of water temp. There is no cold/hot side. You simply turn the faucet handle and it mixes the water temp for you. Great if you can make it go straight cold... but it wouldn't. The showers helped but we were still miserable. we managed a few hours sleep between 6am and 8am, just as the construction workers started beating on walls and floors on the rooms around us. I get it, they were renovating, but this was just the cherry on top of what was already a horrible experience. When I explained this to the owner... he said nothing. He and his wife literally stared at me until I walked out. Not a word said. Never again!...
Read moreEver since I can remember, Motel 6 has been my motel of choice. You have great quality for great prices! However, the room I stayed in at the Motel 6 in Paris, Texas on 3 January, 2017 definitely did not adhere to the high standards set by other Motel 6's I have stayed in in the past, such as the Motel 6 in Dennison, Texas.
I booked a room for the nights of 3 and 4 January, 2017. I had planned a gambling junket at the Choctaw Casino in Grant, Oklahoma. My intention was to gamble all night, come back to the motel and spend the next day and night recuperating and getting my strength back in preparation for the drive back to Arlington. Since, I had not been able to afford to do any gambling for approximately a year and a half, I really did not pay much attention to the condition of the room when I checked in @ noon. I was in a hurry to relieve myself and be on my way. The toilet flushed when I pushed the handle but, upon returning around midnight, it would not flush. I removed the lid to the tank to check the mechanism and found that there was absolutely no water in tank! Then tried to take a shower but could not get any water to flow through the faucet.
In addition to these problems, I also noticed a crack in the wall near the window just above the heating unit. The noise made by this unit made it very difficult to get any sleep.
There was plaster peeling off the walls. There was also a couple of places where it was quite obvious that minimal effort had been made to repair defects in the wall. With the exception of the toilet and the shower, I will provide you with photos in a followup email.
I did not immediately ask for a change of rooms. I was tired and sleepy and did not feel like being out in that cold weather for any length of time. Upon checking out the next morning I asked for a complete refund. The night clerk was gracious enough to refund the charge for the second night, but was staunch in his refusal to give me a complete refund.
Because I was so inconvenienced and because of the room defects, I would respectfully ask that I also be refunded the price ($55.00) I paid for the first night. Or . . . in lieu of a refund, a credit issued for a future stay...
Read moreHi, I am actually still in my room, it's 8 a.m., Monday morning, February 5, 2024. I thought I would write this while it's fresh in my mind. The room itself is clean, the bed is comfortable, the heater works quite well. The wifi was spotty last night, however, there was a thunderstorm in the early afternoon, so that may be why. I slept well, but so did the guest in the next room. I could hear him snoring all night. However, there are several issues with this room. I was looking forward to watching TV since I've been traveling in my van, and I hadn't been around a TV in at least two weeks. The TV in room 206 does NOT work. It continually showed NO SIGNAL the entire night. So I decided to call the front desk and ask someone to see if they could fix the TV. The PHONE DOES NOT WORK. No dial tone! But I was tired and I didn't want to go down to the front desk to complain because I was already settled. As I said, I've been traveling in my van, and I rented a room tonight so I could take a break, watch TV, relax, and take a shower. OK, so the shower head is a BIG problem and is going to ruin the ceiling and walls of the bathroom because it squirts water EVERYWHERE. I tried to adjust it by tightening it as much as I could by hand, but that didn't help at all. But dang it, I need a shower. So instead I threw the extra washcloth over the spraying part of the shower head so it would run into the tub instead of all over the floor, ceiling, and wall. I paid a total of $80 to rent this room which is reasonable and economical IF everything works right. BUT I got the room so I could watch TV and relax. I ended up watching youtube videos on my cell phone all night instead. (Which I could have done in my van) Basically, I paid $80 to take a shower. and listen to the guy in the...
