We had enough Wyndam points for a free night so decided to stay here to visit while my niece was born. Had to book two separate reservations because of that. When we initially checked in we brought our miniature dachshund in with us and the desk clerk commented on how cute she was. Checked in with no problem. Fast forward to tonight. The remote in our remote was not functional so I went down to ask for a replacement. When I told the new desk clerk, a male, he then accused me of sneaking our dog into the hotel. He raised his voice with other people around that I was mandated to report our dog and pay the fee. I don't mind if there is a fee. Some La Quinta's charge them and some don't. My issue was this was told to us when we checked in. We had our dog with us and it was never mentioned at check in. It felt unprofessional to treat us in such a manner. It was embarrassing to say the least. Extremely unprofessional. We went upstairs and packed up immediately and left. I don't care about the fee for dogs, it is what it is. I will not however stay at a hotel where I am treated so poorly. We've been a Wyndam rewards member for years but I will not stay in this La Quinta ever again. They also refused to refund me. Its unfortunate that their employees raise their voices at you and embarrass their customers and then keep your money.
Also there is an obvious odor in the building. It smelled like weed to me. It hits you right when you enter the building.
Pros:
The breakfast was good. Also the staff when we checked in and this morning were nice.
First stay was on March 3-4, 2nd was booked for the 4-6 but we...
Read moreFirst impressions: Decent looking! I really liked this one for a quick stay.
Check-in: Staff were really friendly! Luggage carts by the door, self-parking, and a coffee/tea bar in the lobby. Plenty of lounging space too!
Room/stay: It was clean and neat. I actually picked this hotel because it gave me exactly what I needed—I could bring my dog, had a king bed for me and my boys, and some extra space: couch, desk, two closets, fridge, microwave, and a clean bathtub. Oh—and a decent breakfast! It checked all the boxes. However! The fire detector was detached and one closet was broken. I didn’t care too much about that—what I did care about was how loud my neighbors were (above and to the left). The ones on the left we were able to peacefully resolve.
Breakfast: Pretty decent! Bagels, waffles, toast, mini muffins, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, bacon, juices, coffee, and more. Super easy to just head down and feed the kids. They have high chairs too—a nice touch!
Cleanliness: It was fine! Nothing that raised any concerns.
Other things to note: There’s a lobby with a computer and extra desks. They have a guest laundry (machines take quarters—I didn’t use them, so not sure of quality). I always like knowing that kind of stuff about hotels, especially with kids! There’s a little grassy area on the side that’s kind of like a “dog park”—great for walking your dog. They even provide poop bags and a disposal! It’s also right next to a gas station—literally a 1-minute walk from the lobby. You can also purchase convenience items at the front desk. The staff were extremely...
Read moreStayed here last night. Found mold and numerous blemishes but when the front desk personnel called the manager to see what can be done he only removed the $20 pet fee. I guess having a guest stay in their mold infested room is not a serious matter. Be very aware when staying here. Edited to add: Later that day I requested to speak with the manager directly after reading all the reviews. When he got on the phone he immediately got defensive and said “I didn’t see anything, you can sue me if you want” before the conversation even took off. That is NOT how a manager should act especially when dealing with mold and mildew! I kept calm and simply told him I had photos/ proof and that there’s no way he didn’t see anything. I told him exactly where I found the mold, he went back up to check and then magically he saw 2-3 spots (even though it’s more than that). I explained to him how others have been complaining of the same issue for quite some time now and yet instead of fixing it, he continues to be denial and leave it as is which in the end tells me he doesn’t really care for the health of his guests and only cares for their money. A health inspector definitely needs to pay that hotel a visit. Shame on this manager for acting the way he did and shame on him for not taking the matter more serious. I’ve never stayed in a La Quinta where I’ve had such a horrible experience. Please don’t make the same mistake I did, if you smell mildew ask for a different room or leave. Do not wait until the next day when you can visibly see the mold only to be yelled at and...
