The family and I wanted to spend the weekend in the Medford and Jacksonville area and were struggling to find last minute affordable lodging, so we settled on ABVI Phoenix.||||I do not have unrealistic expectations. I understand that you get what you pay for. We adjusted out expectations accordingly.||||I booked directly through the ABVI website (which I learned is ran by Red Lion, the parent company). I was hoping that by doing this, booking directly though the company, it would eliminate confusion and hassle so we could enjoy our weekend.||||Wow. Was I wrong!||||We arrived and were greeted in the lobby by a barrage of signs, printed and hand written in big bold letters... "NO CHECKS!" "NO PETS!" "NO ENTRY WITHOUT MASK... OR BUY ONE FOR $4.00!" I understand, every property and business has regulations, have them in writing. It is very tacky and uninviting. ||||Pool? Closed. Hot tub? Closed. Breakfast? Canceled. Alternatives to continental buffet? None. Price? Exactly the same. Don't worry, there were signs for all of that as well. ||||The front desk attendant was very nice, but had zero information about our reservation. She knew my name and that was just about it. She didn't know if the payment had been processed (I had entered my card information at time of booking, I wasn't sure if it had been either), she didn't know the rate, she didn't know anything. She said that the systems were difficult to navigate and not very user friendly. I left very frustrated. ||||Then, we returned the next day to find we were now locked out of our room and my kids had to stand in the parking lot while I went to speak with them. Now they were demanding payment or they wouldn't allow me into the room. I provided my card but they didn't provide a receipt and said they would bring it later. They didn't. I finally got my receipt after requesting it again at the front desk.||||The rate was wrong... only by a few dollars... but still wrong from what I had booked. And of course it was a few dollars wrong in favor of the hotel, not in my favor. I was fuming. She said that if I wanted to wait a while she could see if the charges could be corrected. I had had it and just wanted to leave and never see this place again. ||||All of the booking and payment issues aside, the property was a standard budget motel like every other. The beds were pretty comfortable. The room was very clean. It was located in a pretty central area just a few minutes from everything. ||||All in all, it felt very overpriced for what we received. It's so deceptive that everywhere online are listed very low prices but by the time it's booked and then with taxes a 2 night stay was more than a couple hundred bucks. Would never, ever stay here...

Read moreMy entire experience here for five nights was one frustrating or creepy thing after another. I arrived around 11 PM the first night to check in, the man checking me in spoke extremely broken English and struggled to understand what I was saying, it was extremely frustrating. The second day I was here, I had refused housekeeping up to this point, because I keep a very tidy living space and didn’t need it, but when I went to the front desk to get another roll of toilet paper, the desk clerk let me know that I was required to have housekeeping the next day or they would kick me out. This was pretty shocking as I had already paid all five nights in full. Also, what’s creepy about this is I have no idea how they knew I was from room 159. I hadn’t said it, I hadn’t seen this person before, it just gave me a feeling of wariness. So the next day, I am waiting all day long for housekeeping, and they finally get to me around 3 PM. The housekeeper, who is actually really sweet and kind asked me if I needed anything, I declined, grateful for the option to decline, or so I thought. The same man who checked me in came strolling down the sidewalk and insisted I take the housekeeping. Wanting to avoid being kicked out, I agreed. On the fourth morning, I was woken up by some unbelievably loud upstairs neighbors, I took a video to show just how loud they were being, it was so annoying. Around 10 AM I got a phone call asking if I wanted housekeeping today, I politely declined, as they had done a great job cleaning the day before and I really didn’t need any help. I got yet another phone call around 2 PM once again asking if I needed housekeeping, once again I declined and finally I was left alone. I took a shower on the fourth night of my stay, and I kid you not, an earwig fell or crawled onto my foot while I was washing my hair in the shower, this was so disgustingly unnerving. I really hate bugs. Once against the upstairs neighbors were making a ruckus around 1AM that same night too. I was really looking forward to checking out the next morning. The TV was also terrible, it had a very limited number of channels and what shows/movies that were on didn’t fit the screen, it was like fullscreen movies that were stretched on the edges to fit a wide screen TV. The Wi-Fi was also frustratingly slow, I was hardly able to get any of the business work I wanted to get done, actually done. To give an idea, it took about five mins to load one page. I gave up on getting any work done. I did like the room, it felt clean (aside from the bug!!) and modern. The beds were really...
