This was a mediocre experience. I ordered an Asada Burrito (pictured). The overhead menu listed the burrito contains lettuce, onion and cilantro - it was not clear that the burrito also contains rice and beans. It is fair to say, there was as much quantity of complimentary ingredients here than there was Asada…
I have been accustomed to ordering extra meat in recent years, because it has been more obvious that restaurants like these are skimming quantity off of the top in order to save money. I think that the menu could be more specific on this dish, and the balance of ingredients unto a better flavor profile could help things along.
The burrito was served wet, with a hot red sauce - also not reflected on the menu. In that event, I would have been inclined to specify otherwise - like a verde sauce to my preference.
The salsa bar has a variety of salsas, which appear to have been made in house, that was impressive. The chips were below average, semi-stale and yellow-corn forward.
The service overall was middling. I was not greeted by the cashier. When I approached, she looked at me and waited for me to speak first, she had a neutral demeanor that was pretty glaring.
The food was served quickly, almost too quickly - it left the impression it was not actually made to order. Not so inclined to return,...
Read moreTo start, I love Mexican food. The more authentic and simple, the better. I can say with certainty that this place is not good. First off, the menu listed a fish taco plate with rice, beans and salad as an option. We both ordered that. But then the cashier asked how many tacos, so we told her we wanted whatever came with the plate. She didn’t know what plate we were talking about. She then asked if we wanted rice and beans. Again, the menu listed the plate as including these both, so it was super confusing and complicated to order. We eventually had to have the cashier come and look at the menu because she didn’t seem to know why we were confused. What made matters worse was that the menu was only available as a wall-mounted board which was hung right above the salsa bar, so it was not visible when people were getting salsa, which was most of the time.
When the food came out, the tacos were weird. Very little fish but lots of stewed tomatoes and onions. The beans had a weird sour taste and the rice was flavorless.
It seems like many people think inexpensive=good. But you get what you pay for; considering the poor layout, awkward ordering experience and sub-par food, we will...
Read moreI love this place. The tacos are so good they make me want to scream at someone. So far i have had burria (shredded beef), carne asada, carnitas, chorizo, and al pastor tacos. Hands down, best al pastor and chorizo tacos in the valley. I love carne asada and i am sad to say that i am not in love with the carne asada here but the al pastor and chorizo make up for it all. I gorged myself tonight. It was so good i was about to pop and went back for a 3rd al pastor. The carnitas truly are great, but every now and then they get a little on the dry side, wich dops them down to my 3rd favorite taco here. But their tortillas, let me tell you what! I'm not a huge fan of tortillas, they are dry and flavorless and take up too much space in the belly but these tortillas are the exact opposite. They are rolled out fresh and slapped on the grill to order, the masa for the tortillas is perfectly seasoned and they are soooo soft, yet never break and allow the fillings to fall out. My boyfriend and i got sickeningly full and had 2 drinks on about $20. Definitely my favorite tacos...
