Birchview Gardens — Local services in Piscataway Township

Birchview Gardens is a very nice place to live. We have been living here since 2 years and never had any problems. Management is very nice and they surely replace anything that they see is not fixable. We got new AC, dishwasher, heating coils, new blinds in bedroom. They replaced them all when reported. We stayed here in both 1 BR and 2BR apts. Here, you have plenty of storage space and big rooms and kitchen. Very close to 287. Electricity bills are surely high, esp during winters as here they have electric heat (ours used to be abt 300 in winters and 100 in summers for 2BR), but still overall rent is justifiable because of low basic rent. Maintenance is very good. You'll always see maintenance guys doing some maintenance task. Very clean and green. Floods were a problem during Irene, but that is inevitable if u live close to rivers. Still, if u choose to live towards front, that shd not be an issue. They have wooden flooring, so u hear your neighbours walking on 2nd floor but management never rents 2nd flr apt to families with kids. Kids have to be on 1st floor and if u have mutual understanding b/w 1st and 2nd flr, u shd be fine. And we never heard our adjacent neighbours. One thing that is missing here is 24x7 maintenance. If u have some maintenance issues during weekends, u have to wait untill monday.

Every apt. has pros and cons. So i wanna list the pros: Big rooms Good storage Close to highway and parks Close to major hospitals like RWJ, St. Peters Clean and green Nice area for kids to play Prompt maintenence (only on weekdays and during working hrs) Low rent that compensates for high electricity bills Fair parking rules Good management.. tough from outside but soft from inside. Good neighbours Safe. Not had/heard any issues in 2 yrs. Very quiet

Cons: Electric heat Wooden floors so u hear everyone walking No maintenance off office hours. Close to river.

I've been living here for 2 years now with my husband and 11 month old son. We used to live upstairs on the second floor, but it got to be a problem when we had to carry the car seat up and down the stairs. Barbara was really nice in transferring our apartment complex to the 1st floor once our contract ended. I have to say, I really do not mind living off of River Road. It is very convenient because it is right next to 287 south and north. Easy to get to work and when we're at home, we don't even hear the traffic. It's a quiet, peaceful neighborhood and during nice weather, kids would be outside playing. They would even be in the parking lot so cars have to be aware of their surroundings. The main issues I had with Birchview Garden were the unmarked parking spots in the lot, bent metal railing on the balcony and AC/heat escaping the apartment. To my surprise, Barbara read my review and promptly resolved my dilemma. She gave my husband a friendly call and told him that she was appreciative for the tenant testimonial. To show her gratitude, Ted and Miro from the Maintenance department arrived first thing in the morning to install a new over-the-range ventilation system and to repair the balcony railing. She said she'll even have the parking lot taken care of in the spring to reduce the number of tenants double parking. I have to admit, I am very pleased with the office and how they're acknowledging our presence and working to make sure that our needs have been met. I would not recommend another apartment. They offer affordable rates for the one bedroom and two bedrooms and we're currently in the one bedroom which we love. Perhaps one of the most noteworthy features of this apartment complex was the minimal pest issues we encountered.

Lastly, the icing on the cake was the affordability of the rent. Finding such a comfortable and well-managed apartment at a reasonable price felt like hitting the jackpot.
