Riverside park in Piscataway is a little known gem of a park and family area. Every time I have gone to this park I have my grandkids with me. The playground has activities for different ages and abilities. There are traditional swings you would expect to see at a park and then there are special challenge activities. The safety flooring makes the playground safer and the variety of play elements provides a fun and enriching visit. There is ample parking and accessible parking. There are seasonally open bathrooms at the covered pavilion which has many picnic tables.
The park can be privately rented. On the recent date I visited there was a private event going on with catering, a DJ, and a couple of inflatables from local Air Castles And Slides. There was also popcorn and cotton candy machines at the event. A Private rental can also get the 'lights turned on' and additional limited electricity just before the party starts.
The entrance to the park is has colorful well maintained plantings. The park has been immaculately clean each time I have visited. Even with a private party the park is a quiet, calming, friendly place to visit - a rare gem hidden away from the sounds of traffic of nearby highway 287.

Read moreExcellent quiet park on the banks of Raritan river with a nice playing area for children and plenty of benches to sit and relax. The park also has a covered shed with restrooms and electricity outlets next to the playing area making it an ideal outdoor picnic or get-together spot for a group as large as 60 people. The park also features two baseball pitches and a lovely lush green well-maintained park. It has an overall parking capacity of about 80 cars and 20 bikes. The lower partion of the park facing the river tens to get flooded when the river overflows its banks. An inclined design prevents the playing area, baseball pitches and the shed from getting water-logged, so they remain dry. It is a good place to visit and walk for locals and worth a visit for people looking to spend some quiet...
Read moreThis was my first visit to this park. It was a department picnic, with a big group. The day before the event, the weather forecast showed a 50% chance of rain. This was a bummer, but we did not have a rain date and decide to go forward.
The rain gods were helpful, but the rain did arrive eventually. The large pavilion at the park provided ample cover for close to 100 people. We all had fun there.
In addition to the pavilion, we had volleyball, cricket, and lots of other outdoor games. The walk around the park was quite peaceful.
The only downside was the parking, which had to be distributed over many different lots, in some cases leasing to some walk in the rain at the end of the event.
Overall an...
