I just got back from a 1 night stay at Camelback resort with my family. I am so glad it was just for 1 day. Not sure if this place is under new ownership or management but it has changed for the worst in a few years. The main reason for staying here was to have access to their indoor water park. This time all of their tube rides were closed for maintenance. When asking about this, 2 of their staff had indicated that they didn't know when they were going to reopen but we needed to wait until the following day to see if the tubes would be available and if not that we could get an indoor voucher for Wolf Lodge which is another local indoor water park. Since it was close to 5 pm & we would have needed to drive over, it wouldn't have given us much time to enjoy it. So we decided to wait for the following morning & see what happens. We ate dinner at the Trails End restaurant that evening & we were not impressed. My oldest daughter's buffalo chicken wrap had wilted lettuce. My younger daughter ordered the steak churrasco and the broccoli was very soggy. In addition, it must have been the waiter's 1st day because we needed to tell him to get us the utensils, plates, napkins since there was water on the table when we initially arrived. And he kept on disappearing to an area behind our booth for minutes at a time. For dessert, I requested an espresso and this must have been a foreign request because not only did he come back to ask if I wanted espresso in my coffee, which I had to tell him I only want a shot of espresso but I was served the espresso in a mug. The following morning we had breakfast at the Hemispheres restaurant. Those floors were so sticky that it seems like they clean them with maple syrup. You can hear everyone's shoes sticking to the floor as they walk in that area. Every air vent in the ceiling had black residue around them. The food was basic. Pancakes were over cooked. Dry with hard edges. The waffle mix dispenser needed to get 3 staff members involved because it kept on getting clogged. And to top this off, we spend around $120 for basic breakfast for 4 of us. That morning, the tube rides continued to be closed. I asked about the vouchers that I was told about the prior day to Wolf Lodge & I was told they would not do that since thier outside park was open. I explained to them that the reason I drove nearly 2 hours was to enjoy their inside water park with my family and that the outside park was not on option because of my skin condition. I explained that I can't be out under direct sun and even showed them a few of my scars from medical incisions that required stitches. I already have around 45 incisions, most of them being 2 to 3 inches long, and I already have to see a dermatologist every 3 months because of my high risk of getting Melanoma. After a manager was involved, I was offered 8 day passes to their indoor park which I declined. My experience was so horrible that this will be my last time there. The way this place is going I would not be surprised if it goes out of business in the next 5 years. There were other issues with this place such as closed out non-waterpark based entertainment for the kids & the fact that you get charged for parking is ridiculous. The resort is located up on a mountain with no access to public transportation, so how else are you getting there if not by car. Don't waste your time and money here. There are other water parks in the area. Next time I'll go to Kalahari. It's truly a shame because you were...
Read moreI check in the bathroom door is locked so my kids and I waited over an hour for someone to come. We had to use the bathroom in the lobby .
We asked for room service 9am we return 3pm and no one came . The girl at front desk told us they only do house cleaning if your stay FOUR nights ??? Are you kidding ? In a children’s hotel with a garbage can the size of a lunch box ? Well she said she did me the “favor “ of requesting it again and they finally did it and we came back to our room not even locked. She had left it opened . Our belongings could have been stolen because of this!!!!!!
BLOOD CLOT was floating in the penguin park . I asked the worker if someone could clean it and what could that be ..she said oh yes it was probably the boy with a bloody nose. I felt disgusted and there were poor children under the age of 1 swimming in there so I left
OASIS bar is the WORST!! Heavy set girl was very rude and the lady with tinted glasses told a guest to “get out” because he didn’t have ID. She said to him “didn’t you read the sign at the entrance now get out” that’s no way to treat someone on vacation . He was clearly over 18 but that’s not the point the message could have been delivered differently .
I waited twenty minutes for my drink and I asked the heavy set girl at the bar if it’s normal to do so and she said can’t you see there’s only one person working ? Obviously she can’t be faster . She kept repeating how she couldn’t believe I didn’t understand that she’s alone and Our drinks were horrible . She added MANDATORY tip which I did not agree with since they treated me and everyone else so poorly. I did not return.
Buffet: Horrible !! No labels god forbid you’re allergic to something . My husband doesn’t eat beef and I don’t eat pork and the workers do not speak English so we did not know what anything was . Nothing had labeling and the employees just stood around chatting and talking . The station that things were to be cooked on wasn’t labeled so no one knew there was that food option and no one was even standing at it. The desserts had flies on it. It was bad
For the amount I paid to stay here this was not the experience I expected . Everyone was so cheap . We asked for a cup of ice and they acted like we asked for a million dollar drink . We didn’t feel welcomed , pool wasn’t clean .. employee at the pool bar (heavy set girl and girl with tinted glasses) felt like they could treat people like TRASH because of the mandatory tip and it was wrong . Will not be returning or...
Read moreI attempted to make a purchase on Camelback Resort’s website on January 1 for 3 Aquatopia Daily Tickets while visiting Camelback Resort. After submitting my payment on their website, an error page displayed saying that something went wrong. I checked my credit card transactions online where I noticed that there was a pending charge on my credit card for $207 for “Camelback Resort”, but I did not receive my Aquatopia water park tickets or even a confirmation email. I tried to get help from a staff member at Camelback Resort that was helping customers and giving out the wristbands for Aquatopia waterpark, but she claimed that my payment of $207 was not received, even though my credit card was charged for the amount of $207. The staff member told me to wait until the charge was no longer pending and she was giving me a hard time and didn’t want to help me until the transaction was no longer pending. Obviously the payment will remain pending if the person receiving the payment doesn’t handle the payment on their end, so it shows that the staff member had poor knowledge of how credit cards work. I waited for almost an hour, and asked the staff member to check one final time to see if my payment had been received and she said that my payment had still not been received even after almost an hour of waiting. It was an absolute nightmare. My girlfriend’s 4 year old son was crying, getting impatient, wanting to go to the waterpark already. I ended up having to spend an additional $267 to purchase the Aquatopia Daily tickets to make an in person transaction to get the tickets. I’ve contacted guest services and am hoping to get the $207 pending charge removed from my credit card transactions that should never have been there since I didn’t receive my Aquatopia tickets or any email confirmation for the payment of $207, and was told that my payment was not received. If you’re planning on getting tickets to go to the Aquatopia water park, do yourself a favor and purchase them in person when you arrive at Camelback Resort. They seriously need to fix the errors with the payment processing on their website.
Update: After reporting the problem with the transaction to my credit card’s company, I was able to get the $207 refunded back to my credit card account. I will say that the waterpark itself is a lot of fun, and my girlfriend, her son, and I would have enjoyed it a lot more had it not been for this messy transaction situation that I had...
