If you see my other reviews, you know I don't give 5-stars that easily or often, but Tower Cottage is truly in a category by itself. This was the first time ever staying in a bed & breakfast with my wife and I wanted it to be perfect. I started looking online for places in NY, NJ, CT and PA but many of the photos and descriptions simply scared me.
But this is one instance where some amazing photos and reviews didn't truly do the place justice. Tower Cottage completely surpassed my expectations. Not only are Maureen and Tony friendly and gracious hosts, but the painstaking effort to renovate this home will astound you.
The rooms - the home is from the 1800s but everything has been updated for today. New CAC, gas fireplace, beautiful bathrooms with chandeliers on dimmers. Even the amenities....no expense has been spared to give you the sort of experience you expect from a 5-star resort. Gels, bath salts, the works. My wife also was in love with the lavender fragrance throughout the home.
The food - Simply delicious. Breakfast is a 2-course feast. Begins with homemade muffins (blueberry one day, pumpkin spice the next), an appetizer (yogurt fruit parfait one day, a fruit and pina collata sorbet the next) and a wonderful main course (eggs benedict done with fresh croissant, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, spinach and hollandaise sauce, asparagus frittata and crisp bacon the next). During the day, a dish with cheeses and fruit is brought up to us. Waiting in our room are cool water bottles and a bottle of wine as a gift. In the early evening, fresh cookies, brownies and cream puffs are served -- better than any dessert local restaurants offer. And everything is served on fine gold-trimmed Lenox dishes.
The hosts - Made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. To celebrate our birthdays, they delivered the most delicious chocolate cake to our room. Our first night, they took a picture of us as we headed out for dinner. As we departed, they handed us a framed copy of the photograph.
You simply don't find levels of service like this anywhere. They have ruined us for all other B&Bs in the northeast U.S. We wouldn't even think of trying another one, and are already planning to return to celebrate our next special...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in the Tower Suite the night before and the night of our wedding. It was highly recommended to us by our wedding coordinator at Clarks Landing. We have nothing but AMAZING things to say, and the entire experience made our special day even more perfect! Everything was in immaculate condition and the decor is absolutely beautiful. You can tell the second you pull up that Tony and Maureen pour their heart and soul into this place. There were yummy goodies laid out in the lobby when we walked in. The rooms, dining room, and lobby were spotless. We had the eggs benedict that Maureen made the morning of our wedding, and they were seriously one of THE BEST meals I have ever eaten! I honestly have not stopped thinking about them since then and wish she could cook for us everyday! 😂 Tony took such wonderful care of us the morning of our wedding, and he made sure we had plenty to eat before we started our very busy day. I got ready and dressed for my wedding here and it made my pictures that my photographer took absolutely breathtaking, both the pictures taken indoors and outdoors. I can’t imagine a better place to have these memories captured! We had another lovely breakfast the morning after our wedding, and it was the perfect way to end our wonderful stay here. My husband and I are planning on moving out of state in the near future and we will absolutely be staying here during our visits. Even if we weren’t planning on moving, we loved it here so much that we would still book a room just to experience the wonderful hospitality, atmosphere, and of course Maureen’s AMAZING cooking! Thank you Tony and Maureen for making the most wonderful day of our life so memorable! We will be recommending The Tower Cottage to all of our family and friends who need a...
Read moreWe have stayed at several bed and breakfasts over the years, and this truly deserves to be in a league of its own. |However, this is one case where the glowing photos and reviews only partially capture how incredible this place is. Tower Cottage exceeded all my expectations. Not only is Tony the most warm and gracious host, but his home is meticulous and extremely clean. Nothing short of impressive.|The rooms are from the 1800s, yet everything is updated to modern standards. You'll have central air, a cozy gas fireplace, cooler, and stunning bathrooms with chandeliers on dimmers. Even the amenities are top-notch, offering the luxury you'd expect from a 5-star resort—everything from high-end bath gels to bath salts. |The food? Divine. Breakfast is a two-course feast, starting with homemade muffins followed by an appetizer like a yogurt fruit parfait and a main course that could rival any top restaurant-think eggs benedict on fresh croissant with Canadian bacon, poached eggs, spinach, and hollandaise, or an asparagus frittata with crisp bacon. They will even accommodate you with any food allergies or diet. Throughout the day, food and water bottles are out. In the early evening, they served freshly baked homemade cookies, brownies, etc.—better than any dessert we found at local restaurants. And everything was beautifully presented.|As for the host, he made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The beach is couple of blocks away, and they offer beach passes, beach bags, and beach towels for your use while staying at their home. |The exceptional service we received at Tower Cottage has set a new standard for us. We're already looking forward to...
