Pelican Point Motel — Hotel in Point Pleasant Beach

The rooms are nice, clean. We have only stayed during the winter, and pricing has been appropriate. Theres a cute, small inground pool at the front of the motel bu the office. Our room is right behind the pool, I could throw a stone from nm our doorway and it would hit the pool. There is definitely enough parking spaces for everybody. In our room there is one bed (queen I believe), a small table and chairs, one dresser, one night stand, a tv mounted to the wall (tons of channels!!!), an air conditioner/heating unit that works great, a mini fridge, a microwave, one full length mirror and a bar to hang clothes. Bathroom is small but cute, shower pressure is good however water kind of gets all over the place so we have to constantly put towels down if we shower. I took away one star because I really wish there was a hot plate or something to cook something small. Also I wish there was two nightstands instead of one, because there are two of us and I have no surface space on my side of the bed, its just empty on one side. ALL ROOMS ARE NON SMOKING and the manager is very proactive about this, having put ashtrays outside all rooms and public large ashtrays in all outdoor common areas. You cant flick a cigarette here without hitting an ashtray, so use them!! as a smoker myself, I can even appreciate this. We have a 2yo and I would not want to subject her to smokey, or dusty smoke-smelling rooms, or marijuana smoke leaking though the doors and walls of the other rooms even. Now.. there is a door adjoining the room behind us and although theres no way anyone can get into each others rooms the way it's set up, I do have to say it makes the walls PAPER THIN you guys. Like, I mean, I can literally hear the people next to us typing on their PHONES!!! We can hear every single word they say, and we can hear every time they walk in or out of their room because i hear the adjoining door move, and its metal, so its loud. I can hear our neighbors fight all night and it's pretty obnoxious, so it's a little disappointing that they are still here. But hey, as a guest you cant choose who gets to stay or not, right? BUT for the price of this place (even during the cold season) I wouldve expected a little more to it, and definitely a little more privacy sound/noise wise. And there is definitely not enough storage space for two people to stay more than a week. I have noted though, that other rooms have some different accommodations. One room a couple doors down from us has a couch in it. Some rooms upstairs are bigger, so I've been told, with something like two bedrooms I believe. I'm not 100% sure what all the other rooms have to offer, but it's worth checking out! With all of this being said... the woman who runs the motel is very nice and she IS accomodating to the best of her ability. Shes a straight shooter, and she lives on the premises all year round, so if something is affecting the guests, its affecting her as well. She gets things done and handles business as far as the motel goes, for sure. She will help you with whatever she can. All in all, the place IS very clean, well taken care of, and it's super close (walking distance) to EVERYTHING you want or need. Supermarkets, laundromats, THE BEACH!, restaurants, shopping, public transportation, you name it. I would definitely recommend this motel if you are ever in the Point Pleasant Beach area, which is definitely a destination town, and us locals treasure this town. It is kid friendly, and comfortable.. and whatever our room lacks in, the location AND customer service makes up for. thank you pelican point motel, for letting us stay this winter while our housing issues were worked out!! Not happy at all.. I rented the efficiency apartment and at $399 a night I expected so much more, the rooms were OK but by far not clean, the floors seem as they havent been washed in months ( our feet were black withing an hour of walking around) , the kitchen chairs were dirty, sticky, old and broken, lighting in the kitchen was so bad we had to bring the floor lamp in from the other room to see. During a pandemic I expected the place to be spotless. The lock on the door was broken so we could only lock the top lock. The window A/C units were not enought the cool the place in the HOT summer months. The bottom of the pool was filled with sand and beer cans left around , its very obvious that its not cared for the way it should be. We had an incident when an intoxicated man came off the street dove in the pool, came out stumbled across several lounge chairs, jumped back into the pool, came out again and stumbled over the fence to walk away ..this was scary especially for my young child who suffers from anxiety and panics attacks. needless to say we cut our trip short and checked out a day early. When we went to check out the receptionist wasnt there so I left the keys with a young lady that was temporarily watching the desk, I told her we were leaving early but she didnt question why, she said she would leave a note for the receptionist /manager and have someone call me, I never received a call.. I waiting a couple of days for a call but nothing.. I sent an email and 2 weeks later still no reply.. so basically they dont care about my experience, didnt offer an...

The room was adorable - the colors and decor gave it such a beachy feel and the room was overall very clean. The motel was very quiet too which I appreciate a lot and being only a 7 - 9 min walk to the Jenkinson's boardwalk, I mean who can beat that?

To top off how pleased I was with the room, the staff was amazing. Denise the property manager was incredible. She was so accommodating and made my stay extra special. My boyfriend has had a rough few months losing his father to covid and his mother hospitalized due to covid complications that he’s just been so sad over it all these last few months that I really wanted to do something nice for him to help take his mind off things. The beach is his absolute favorite place in the world so I wanted to take him there for his birthday and make it really special and boy did this motel help make that happen.

I explained to Denise my situation and asked if she could do something for his bday - like balloons or something and I'd pay whatever price. She said normally they don’t but she made an exception bc of the situation and I’m so glad she did.

The room was decorated with balloons, a hbd banner and birthday cupcakes. Not only that but she upgraded my room and gave me a room in the back away from everyone explaining she did that bc she figured we’d wanted more privacy. It was such a sweet gesture.

Overall this place totally exceeded my expectations and was probably one of the nicer motel experiences I've ever had in my life. I’m already telling friends about the trip and making plans to return. 5 stars...
