The Windswept is a mixed bag. Ive stayed here several times over the last few years. I'll start with the positives....the location is ideal. Very good beach access since its right on the beach. Close to the boardwalk but not too close. The staff is friendly and generally helpful. The downside...they have a swimming pool, but it's so small I've never considered using it. The rooms could use some updating. This is not the cheapest place around in the peak summer season. I stayed for 4 days (more like 3 1/2) at a cost of $1040.00. I had to stop reminding myself that I could probably fly down to the Caribbean for the same amount of time and $. Its no wonder people are going to other destinations than the Jersey shore. The room was adequate and that's about all that can be said. The bathroom fixtures and the shower were old. The bathroom door was sticking so bad I couldn't close it. The 19" or so tv looked like it was from the early 90's in one of those armoire type cabinets with the retractable doors. I will say that aside from that, everything worked. The AC was very good, which was greatly needed. The housekeeping is very good, and the rooms are well kept and stocked with the basic necessities. They do a very good job maintaining what they have, which is an older building(s). I'm still hoping that this place will step up one of these days and do some upgrades. A wall mounted flat screen tv that's big enough to see would be a good start...then they could eliminate those bulky armoire cabinets. For the rates charged here, the lack thereof is inexcusable. I hope that someone in management actually reads these reviews, because the criticisms are meant to help. I can see by the content of other reviews there are similar concerns. 7/19/2017This is a follow up to last year's review. Just got back from a Thurs. - Sun. stay at the Windswept. Not a lot to add to my previous review other than I enjoyed my stay here again. The location is really the star here, great beach access and a close but not too close proximity to the boardwalk and other points of interest. The rooms are pretty much the same which is to say they are more or less basic lodging but clean. A little disappointed that there have been no upgrades at all. The TV as in the past, was old and undersized and the cable service was subpar. Not that I go on a beach vacation to watch tv, but its good to have on those nights when one decides to stay in. I think the management has a good understanding of the basic psychology of a typical visitor here, in that they are probably going to overlook certain shortcomings because the room itself is not really what they're here for. The room service as in the past, is very efficient and the room was always serviced in a timely fashion. The staff here continues to do a very good job of maintaining the facility. All in all a good choice mainly for its location and cleanliness, although the lack of certain upgrades continues to be a sore...
Read moreWhen I hear motel I naturally think of a small , cheap , usually dirty , low maintenance place BUT, luckily I read the google reviews and seen nothing but great comments and it was all true , the staff is very friendly, they gave me a room with a balcony that I saw the beach right in front of me on the balcony, it was very clean also, beds and seats were comfy and one of my favorite parts is it was quiet , I’ve stayed at hotels like the Kenilworth and heard people next door like the walls were paper thin, but here I did not hear anything, perfect spot for a couple or a family, trying to stay by the water, and all the spots were about a two minute walk. Price was great for what you get and the only thing I did not like was the early check out because who wants to wakeup early after drinking all night LOL but you can request a late checkout till 11 and they really didn’t say anything they happen to call at 1130 and that just woke me up but they just reminded me the checkout time and were very nice. I give google reviews now because reading the always helped me, (there are some naturally negative people that will always try finding something to say) but that’s why you read all the reviews before deciding. Thank you to the hotel and workers. -Brittney...
Read moreThis was our second time staying there, we decided to come back to his year as the location is ideal....but the prices were too steep for us so we decided to do a one night stay ...the room was cute and clean smelled cleaned.thw location of ro not so much....as it was on the first floor last closest to the beach access...which was cool what wasn't cool is one of the windows faced the swimming pool all I can say is awkward. We could hear everything that was going on. I'm just glad the pool closes at 8 so at least no kids were screaming during the night.....also the walk to the beach was was fine but I do remember walking just straight up an over the dune....and not up over and then get corralled in a little roped off section.....also was told that before checkin and check out there was a room that we could change into dryer clothes after being at the beach....the room was in the laundry room but we didn't use it because as soon as we asked where it was we were pointed there and we walking and there were 10 employees just staring at us made us uncomfortable....other than that it is a beautiful hotel staff is friendly and location...
