I recently booked a room with this property & enjoyed almost every aspect of their hotel. I will say what I liked about the hotel and then I will say what ruined the entire stay.
The property is very clean. The room was updated & spacious. Not to mention the heated pool was awesome. My family & i were already planning our next stay because we liked it that much!
With that being said…the very next morning after checking in I get a phone call from a disgruntled elderly front desk employee immediately stating that we had “several problems”. At this point, I am very concerned & confused. She goes on to scold me like a child in the most rude tone stating that she had gotten complaints about my guests sitting on our porch till early morning hours making too much noise. They had no music on, we’re talking amongst themselves & never once made any disturbances that could even be heard from inside our room. She made sure to tell me “we don’t do that here!”multiple times. I am very well aware of the normal “quiet hours” rule but I didn’t know it meant you had to stay inside your room completely after 10pm. Regardless, there is a right & wrong way to speak to people. I respectfully apologized & she then went on to make false accusations. As I’m trying to explain myself, she’s interrupting me. I apologized multiple times & she just kept going. I was almost in tears & distraught after the phone call & after calming down I decided to ask my mom & aunt who were also guests at the hotel to go with me to the front desk to get more exact info on the complaints. I was honestly scared of speaking to this woman alone. I approached very respectfully as they stood back. She was very upset at the fact that I brought other people into the office with me & I relayed that she made me feel THAT uncomfortable & THAT anxious that I felt I had to. She even spoke to my aunt very rudely pointing her finger at her & stating that “it was none of her business & had nothing to do with her” when in fact it did as I was being blamed for her car alarm going off in the morning. Even after all of this occurred, I still spoke to her respectfully & apologized multiple times for things that were out of my control. I pleaded with her just to not treat me like that & she showed no remorse. I have NEVER been treated this way by any business & she completely ruined my experience at this hotel. She never apologized once for speaking to me the way she did or for assuming. After seeing some of the other reviews, it’s obvious this women’s behavior is recurrent & uncontrollable. She should be ashamed of herself & should not be the person dealing with guests. Just aggressive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. Even days later I’m honestly still in shock that this happened & hope nobody else is made to feel like this by this woman! Do better Tropic...

The room itself had a comfortable mattress, bedding, and nice pillows. Big closet, lots of space (bring extra hangers). Nice body wash, lotion, and shampoo & conditioner in the bathroom. Unclear on how to get refreshed towels daily, so we ended up using the beach towels we had brought with us. Floors were dirty/gritty, but that's pretty much to be expected at a beach destination. Free wifi/Internet/TV was a little bit spotty especially it seems when there were many people 'at home' but worked fine when fewer people were using it. Dog park was hard to find, not well lit, small, not inviting. Luckily the Port A. community park has a nice dog park we enjoyed. Hot tub looked cloudy, but the pool was very nice, heated and salt water. Walls are very thin, we had a large family staying next door, even heard snoring at night--which we did not see a need to complain about to the front desk, as these things do happen.||Unfortunately, the front desk called us the first afternoon after we had checked in late the previous evening and told us that there had been complaints that our dogs barked & kept neighbors up 'all night' (I guess that's why they were snoring so loudly?) and that we had left the dogs in the room while we 'went out'. We had arrived at around 8pm, unloaded our luggage, and walked our dogs for about an hour, got back to our room around 10 and went to bed. If the dogs had barked, they would have disturbed us FIRST before they disturbed the neighbors. Front desk person acted like I was lying when I told them this and spoke to me in a scolding tone. I suspect the neighbors made up a lie to tell the front desk after they saw us arriving with dogs as a way to try and get a free or discounted stay. Nevertheless, it was offensive and hurtful to be treated that way over a lie.||This is the truth: We never left the dogs alone in the room. They were with us the entire time, we were out of the room most of the day every day of our visit, and went to bed early each night. They would occasionally bark once or twice and be quickly shushed by us when the large family next door would periodically slam doors and yell.||The place itself is fine, with the exception of the thin walls and unkind front desk person. It is not the resort's fault that there was a huge group of loud people in a room next to a quiet couple whose dogs are not used to children and people yelling and slamming doors. I do wish the business had been proactive and offered another room to either us or the giant family to resolve the issue. ||Under different circumstances, the resort itself could be a very pleasant, affordable place to stay in the off-season. But if you get bad neighbors, you will be...
