Highly disappointing experience. It gives me no pleasure to write a poor review of a family-owned business, but I feel compelled to save others from a negative experience on their vacations. I booked a 6-seater golf cart on May 5 for a vacation that started on July 18. I figured that was plenty of time to reserve a nice cart. It was delivered on time but the cart itself was highly disappointing. It had no lights, no music, and I'm quite certain I could have walked faster than it drove. I reached out to the company to request a trade-in. I had to text them a few times, but finally received a response and they delivered a fully loaded new cart to the beach. We were thrilled until we realized that the cart would not drive in reverse. They sent out some employees to switch out the cart and gave us the same golf cart that they had given us on the first day. Again, I texted the owner to ask him if he could deliver me a better cart. He said that an employee would be reaching out to schedule a drop off. An employee never called, and I had to text two more times to get a response. I also asked for some type of financial compensation for our time and frustration, and was told that he would "take care of us". Finally, a fourth cart was delivered that had no lights or music and was a very basic model. At the end of the weekend, I texted the owner to let him know that we were done with the cart and inquired about the financial compensation that he had promised us. He never responded. There are so many great golf cart companies on the island. I would avoid this company in order to avoid the headaches that we experienced on our vacation. I gave a 2 star instead of 1 star review because I must say that the young man that they have working for them that delivers the carts is just about the nicest kid I've ever encountered. Island Outfitters was suggested through PortAescapes which is the only booking company I will use because they are the best as well. Island Outfitters will now be the only rental company I will use. My family and I were in port a May 20-23 for vacation. Matt (Island Outfitters) sent me a text with a picture of my cart in front of my beach house along with an instructional video letting me know it was ready use upon my arrival. I.O.’s rentals come with gas fill ups. You just send a text and they respond with an estimated time and also text you once they have topped you off. I had initially read the info wrong and thought I was supposed to call for a refill. My first request for fill up happened to be on Matt’s kid bday. When I called Matt was extremely pleasant even though I had called instead of texting. He was in the middle of getting pizzas for his kiddo but still reassured me that he would have me topped off just as soon as he could. I was in no rush and told Matt no problem family comes first and I wouldn’t be going on the cart until later that night. Twenty minutes after I got off the phone with him I had a text that my cart was fueled up and ready to go. I was in shock at how fast he did that. Family ALWAYS comes first and always will in my books. That right there folks is someone who takes pride in their business even though he didn’t have to and could have waited until his child’s party was done. I only needed fuel one other time after that and after I sent the text, again within twenty minutes I had fuel. The process of returning the cart was just as smooth as getting it. My wife and two kiddos took quick trip to Port Aransas while we were visiting Texas. Island Outfitters called me the day before we arrived to verify where we wanted the golf cart dropped off. Matt (owner) then called me the day of to let me know when our cart would arrive and offered to give me the address to his own house if I wanted to grab it earlier. Matt knew that my rental unit was close to his house. Mind you, this is the owner of this company.

Matt personally delivered our golf cart, explained the golf cart driving laws, the operation aspects of the golf cart, and provided advice on local restaurants and food we inquired about.

I forgot the code to the cart and texted Matt. He responded in literally 10 seconds.

The day we left, we received a text telling us to let them know when we were ready for them to come pick up the golf cart.

Two of Matt’s team showed up, made sure that we were happy with the experience and the service we received They even chatted up my two toddlers.

The golf cart rocked, it has an awesome blue tooth speaker mounted to it including a wide array of lighting options. I comes with unlimited gas (small island so no worries there), a beach permit, and it is a brand new machine. They were priced below everyone else that I researched. Matt was Accommodating and awesome.
