Americas Best Value Inn Oxnard Port Hueneme — Hotel in Port Hueneme

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon checking in to my room I discovered the floors were wet and sheets hadn’t not been changed as they were covered in hair and dirt, so I kindly asked for a new set and that I could change them myself and they just put me in a new room. When I got into this new room it smelled horribly of cigarettes even though they are “no smoking” rooms and the refrigerator electrocuted me twice while i was trying to put my food in, so I asked again to just have new sheets in the previous room. I got the new sheets and they were stained and then discovered the mattress was also damp, the mattress was covered in ripped up plastic, the hairdryer didn’t work at all, the whole room had dirt and dust, the 2 towels and 1 rag were stained, shower head was clogged, the shower was rusted and peeling and so was the paint off the walls. I called the front desk to see if there was an extra and throughout this whole experience the woman at the front desk seemed put out and rude. I contacted booking.com where I got the reservation to see what could be done about a new room and such, and nothing at the time could be done so I decided to just tough it out. I am from Texas and am visiting my husband who is enlisted in the Navy so I needed to be close to base and figured it was better than nothing. When I got back from base for my second night my room key wasn’t working so I went to the front desk and she informed me that I no longer had a room there because I contacted booking.com for a different room and that I was out of luck because they were miraculously “all booked” now. I got no heads up or call from them they just took it upon themselves to confiscate all of my luggage from my room without my permission, and leave me stranded on the sidewalk all because the amenities in THEIR booking were not accommodated. Take my word for it, this place is sketchy, dirty, and run down with a very rude front desk woman. I strongly advise you use your $130/night elsewhere. If I could give ZERO...

I paid for non-smoking with king size bed and I got smoking with queen bed. No lobby at office. You have to ring a bell, even during the day, and they buzz you in. Semi-homeless looking girl, obvious signs of being on drugs at office, first bothering the front desk lady, then started bothering me, front desk person just let it go on like it was normal. Thick smell of cigarette after asking me 3 times if I smoke, I said that I do not smoke. Room barely big enough to walk around the bed, which is okay. But the blankets had several burn holes, which could be from who knows what. There were several hairs in the sheets and on pillows. Bed was ridiculously noisy, by which I mean I could not move an inch while on the bed without it making loud noises. We got two thin pillows. Microwave was dented on the side and top. Looked like someone had punched and kicked it. Tv remote missing buttons. The entire room looked vandalized from the table to the mirror frame to the towel rack. Shower curtain had black stains on it. When turned the AC off, the horrible cigarette smell came back. No outlets near the bed, have to charge your phone across the room. I had just spent $2k on a full day of tattoo work. I was exhausted and this place was nearby and I just needed a place to crash for a night. When i saw the room I went straight back down and got a refund. No way was I going to stay there. Moldy smell, room was 80+ degrees inside when I walked in. Bedding was old, rough, had holes in it. Had two flat pillows. Walls painted dark green but chipping paint. Door stays open if you don’t force it shut. Door locks didn’t feel sufficient. Leaky sink wouldn’t turn off. Had one small table that was banged up and looked terrible. It was seriously depressing. I felt like staying in that room would undoubtedly result in a massive infection with a fresh tattoo. Lady at the front desk drilled me on why I didn’t want to stay and argued with me. I felt bad and uncomfortable and was trying to be kind but after the 3rd time explainingI got upset. I had to be blunt and tell her everything about it was gross and the bottom line is that I’d rather pay three times as much and sleep in the car than spend 10 min in that room.
