Extremely Disappointing Stay – Do Not Recommend
Our experience at this property was extremely disappointing. The images shown online do not accurately reflect the reality of the rooms. We chose this place based on the photos, but what we walked into was far from what was advertised.
After accidentally spilling water on the bed, I requested extra blankets from the front desk. Unfortunately, the woman at the front was very rude and unhelpful, stating that there were no extra blankets available and offering no solution. We then decided to use the sofa bed, only to find that it had no sheets. When we called again to ask for sheets, we were told they had run out because other guests had requested extras. I also mentioned that the sofa bed mattress was visibly dirty and stained, and asked if we could at least get something to cover it. Again, she dismissed the request and did not attempt to find a solution. (We had to go to Walmart to buy bed sheets and blankets). What made the situation worse was not just the lack of amenities, but the attitude. Even if clean linens were unavailable, a courteous response such as, "Let me wash some and send them your way when they’re ready," would have made a huge difference. Instead, we were met with rudeness and no effort to help.
Additionally, there were no clean towels provided, and the room lacked basic toiletries like complimentary shampoo or soap. Luckily, we had brought our own. To top it all off, when we went to use the oven, we discovered someone else’s food had been left inside, which raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and thoroughness of the cleaning staff.
The only positive is the location—conveniently close to H-E-B and Walmart (less than 3 minutes away). But sadly, the convenience does not make up for the poor service, lack of cleanliness, and misrepresentation of the property.
I would not recommend staying here. It is not...
Read moreOkay so if you're looking for a no frills, inexpensive place to crash for the night or a day or two, this is the place.
The office was never open, even though the OPEN sign was on, you have to ring the bell and conduct service through a tiny window. The Indian lady checking us in was helpful and kind. The Indian man that was at the window later was not helpful or kind. In fact, just the opposite. What a miserable person.
Let's start with the positives...
Location and price and parking. There are many stores within walking distance which is great because you will need them. It is maybe a ten minute drive to the island and 5 minutes to the Pirates landing Fishing Pier. There is plenty of parking and the parking lot is well lit. Washer and dryer on site, $2/wash $2.50/dry. Change is available in the office. Wash takes about 45 minutes, the dryer was still going an hour and half later when I went back.
Now for the negatives...
Obviously at their very low rate, accodimations are minimal. The unit does have a kitchen, however there is NOTHING (no dish soap, no dishes, no small appliances (there is a tiny microwave), no silverware, no coffee make, no paper towels) no ice maker in fridge. The kitchen is completely empty. The bathroom towels were clean but very scratchy.
There is a dated pull out sofa in the living room if your brave, no extra linens provided for it. Living room also has a medium sized TV with cable access. The bedroom had one dresser, small wall mounted TV with cable, and one nightstand. Sheets were clean, bedspread was not. The bathroom is small but shower was hot with decent water pressure. The two tiny soaps and two tiny shampoos are garbage, so bring your own.
All in all, we will probably stay again when coming to...
Read moreNew Mgmt.... No bueno... My girlfriend and I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last several years for several days at a time. We really like the hotel for its amenities and minimal rate. This year was a different story. When we arrived we noticed there had been some outside cosmetic improvements with new paint and lighting and at the desk we were met by the new owners/mngrs who were an Indian or middle Eastern couple. We were quite happy, as usual, until the 3rd night when we returned from a night fishing trip to find our room A/C had stopped working it was close to 90 degrees in the room. When we notified mgmt. the wife/owner said it was not their fault and that we could check out without a refund. Mind you this was 2a.m. How gracious of them. She also blamed us for tampering with the thermostat that I later discovered was pre-programmed at their selected temperatures. The following day I met the husband (owner/mngr) and told him that his wife was extremely rude to us and that we would be seeking a refund for the previous night. When we called Priceline and he spoke to them he literally lied about us in front of our faces. We are a professional 40 yo couple expecting to be respected. All we received was disrespect. If you read the single star reviews you will see more reports of this. I will never stay here again. Casa Rosa has similar facilities and...
