It was not a pleasant experience at all... I was in room 336. I was staying just for one night and decided to have my room paid for on the night I checked in. The front desk person told me that he had to "check me out" and "check me back in" in order for me to pay early. I asked him to make sure that is OK cause I am planning to stay through the night. He assured me that it was just a routine procedure. The next morning before 8am while I was sleeping, the cleaner opened my door after knocking and realized that there is people in the room and left immediately. A few minutes later Robin Scott (Sales manager) called me from the front desk and waked me up again. She asked quite rudely why I was in the room but her computer systems showed the room is vacant. I explained to her that It may be was because I paid for the room last night and front desk had to check me out and check me back in for doing that. She obviously did not believe me and ordered me to show up at the front desk immediately even though I told her that I was sleeping. I had no choice but draging myself to the front desk in my shorts and found out that the front desk person messed up the night earlier and did not check me back in after he charged my credit card.
As a result, it was because of the Marriott front desk's mistake and Robin Scott decided to sacrifice a silver elite member's privacy and resting time and required the guest to come to the front desk right away for settlement. The hotel claims that customer is #1 priority but I do not see that in this incidence. I would be much happier if Robin allowed me to help her resolve her problem at a later time when I was convenient to come to the front desk. She obviously did not consider that and was not putting her customer as...
Read moreI am a regular at hotels in Portland. It's an escape from my home in Vancouver. I have always found Marriott "s to be my favorite. The Fairfield however is rising to the top. Recent renovations being completed, new GM, incredible staffing. It is my home away from home. The facility is very clean. Housekeeping is on the ball beyond belief, front desk staff is more than helpful, kitchen staff serve up a great breakfast with a ton of choices every morning. The driver's to and from airport or imideate area very great guys. It has a work out room, laundry room, a pool in the process of renovation id assume. It's currently closed but everything else is back to life. Sure that's to come. It is a very reasonably priced for the family, or if you had a few to many, much safer place to stay than driving. It is super close to airport. Downtown portland is just minutes away. PIR is just across town 15 minutes away.Rivers for fishing all near by. Place to park if you fly out of town. Everything you could want or need is right there. The new GM, Chase, has taken and older hotel and done great things with it through the recent renovation. The staff he has on board are incredible all the way around. I must say without a doubt that the Fairfield on Airport Way in Portland, since the change of management has become a favorite place to stay. No better group to stay with anywhere around. Thank you Fairfield staff for making my stay another incredible weekend. Mr. K.Allen...
Read moreAs a lifetime Titanium elite with over 1600 nights stay, I think I know what good looks like at Marriott properties. This property is NOT good and the stay was unpleasant. The stay began poorly as signage for the parking lot entry point was overgrown with vegetation causing us to miss it and spend additional time finding the property. The parking lot was not full for late in the evening which was a question mark in my mind. The check in process was tolerable, although when we inquired about a possible Titanium upgrade, we received an unpleasant reply indicating no rooms were available. I asked for a bottle of water and was informed that the hotel did not give complimentary water; I would be charged $5 for a bottle. The room was old and not remodeled. The bedding was clean. The furnishings were worn out. The bath tub/shower did not have any safety device such as a grab rail to assist entry and exit of the bath tub. Only one towel per person (2) was in the bathroom. The breakfast was one of the worst I have had at any Marriott property of any level. In my 1600 nights, I have stayed in all Marriott brand levels from the Moxie/Fairfield to the Ritz Carlton. This stay was among the worst I have ever had at Marriott. It reminded me more of Motel 6 from my student days. If I want to stay at Motel 6, I will pay Motel 6 prices, NOT Marriott prices for Motel 6 quality. All in all, a...
