My Truck was Robbed, Vandalized and ransacked while parked in the parking lot at this Marriot. Unfortunately for me management, with a shoulder shrug stated ' It is Portland" and that's all that was said and i was ignored as i cleaned up my vehicle.|| I was on a cross country trip from NY with my daughter, so over two thousand dollars worth of items were stolen from my truck, my window was smashed and a lot of my items were in strew threw the parking area. I had been staying there and took a flight to Hawaii with my family and came back and found my truck like so. || Ironically though, the thieves were kind enough to shut the doors of my truck after ransacking and robbing my vehicle. Odd that no one heard the alarm, saw the broken glass, saw any of my personal items in the parking lot, but my doors were still properly closed. Also, odd that if a "homeless person" , (the excuse that was given) broke into a vehicle, you would think they would take everything in the vehicle ,per, food, blankets, money, cb radio, seem as if they targeted just the tools. Also, ironic, all the tools that were taken, the tool bag was left, I'm no genius , but i am a tradesman, all those tools, plus a recurve bow with a quiver filled with arrows, i would you would need a car to haul that away. Cant see a "homeless person" running down the street with a bow and arrows and approx. 10 battery operated tools with 4 batteries. || Further i feel that this "Marriots policy" of placing a blue piece of paper on the dash of the car ,stating the date you will be back to that Marriot is the calling card to get your car robbed, which was fully told to them before the fact and ignored.|| In my opinion, Don't stay at this hotel with out of town plates, i feel this was a targeted robbery of my vehicle and this is how its done, blue paper, out of town plates.|| In conclusion after getting my window replaced in Portland and paying full price for a week of room stay at this garbage hotel, me being from Ny i wouldn't recommend this...
Read moreMy work takes me to airports around the world so I'm quite familiar with airport hotels. Having stayed here twice now for over 2 weeks each time I feel I'm qualified to rate the experience. The hotel itself is not particularly modern but it is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, courteous, well trained and motivated. The restaurant is a hidden gem. The menu -though limited - offers good food at fair prices and I found it outstanding, so much so that I ate in at the restaurant every night of my stay. The bar/restaurant staff were great and really took pride in their craft and service it was a pleasure to eat there. Only criticism of the restaurant/bar is the policy that closes it at 10pm every night. With a bar and restaurant this good it would have been nice to have some extended hours on the weekend and I did see quite of number of customers who arrived late only to find the bar closing, but this is personal preference and room service is available with some limited food options available in the foyer. Parking is plentiful and secure with regular sweeps by security, front desk staff friendly and professional. Airport shuttle is available and there is fast food just down the street and Shari's excellent restaurant a short walk. For light sleepers a word to the wise...try and get a room on the back side of the building away from the road which is the main thoroughfare to PDX as some of the those 'race tuned' exhausts penetrate the building quite effectively. The room I stayed in did provide a sleep machine which works very well in tuning out road noise but if you're sensitive to noise I'd ask for a room on the other side of the building from the road when...
Read moreThis hotel has the worst staff I have ever encountered in any Marriot property. Both check in and check out staff were unpleasant.
The woman who checked me in was abrupt and unfriendly. My Marriot profile was ignored and I was given a room at the far end of the hall. I was standing alone in the lobby with 6 large heavy travel cases. There were no luggage carts available. I had to make 3 trips from my room to the elevator.
When I got to my room it was hot. I looked at the thermostat and it was set to 72 degrees. I had to lower it to 64 degrees to get the AC to turn on.
The amenities in the room were good, nice TV, fresh looking furniture and carpet.
I ate at the properties bar, restaurant. Even though the menu is Identical to other Marriott properties the food was not good in comparison. Buffalo chicken wings were overcooked and very dry. The soup I got was cold...not warm...cold. I used the lobby microwave to heat it up rather than sending it back.
I got back to my room and it was still warm. I maxed out the AC.
The toilet in the room was leaking and ran to refill every 10 minutes. It was loud enough to wake me several times at night.
My maid knocked on the door at 8AM, I loudly replied "just a minute" and the door was immediately opened. I just got out of the shower and had my underwear on. Why wouldn't they give the maid a list of checked out rooms to start with if she is going to start so early? At least she apologized.
I told the check out clerk about the problems with the room's toilet and AC even though she didn't ask about my stay. She barely acknowledged me. No apology, no "thank you" no "goodbye."
This hotel needs...
