This hotel .. is not a hotel it is a pit. Absolutely disgusting. Every inch of this place was dirty. I have stayed in cheap hotels my entire life travel 4 times plus a year. The super 8 for $16 in Atlantic city was cleaner and that says something.. the elevators had dust and dirt visible. Everything is dusty. The first room we stated in had hair in the sink and toilet. The walls if the shower had blue soap on the walls. The bedroom mirror looked like someone licked it. The bed skirt was hanging off the bed. The tray was dirty that holds the cups to drink out if we immediately left this room went to the desk who stated .. what kind of bed skirt is it. I simply stated this room was not clean. The male then provides us with a new room I did ask to be moved up to next level room for the inconvenience as we are traveling with a 1 yr old and 2 yr old and had to repack. They provided this "upgrade". Second room. DIRTY! Fridge had juice spilled in it which I hand washed.. bathroom was full of dust like loads of dust. TV visibly dirty like not just dust but like something wet was left on it and hand prints telephone had dust caked in the receiver. The whole floor of the hotel on level 3 smelled like cigarettes. We booked this hotel for the pool it was strange the liner was ballooning under our feet. The room was dirty that the pool was in hot tub was brown .. like beef jerky second hot tub not working properly jets didnt work.
There is no conteniental breakfast as advertisements state. There is no house keeping or room service.
The front desk told me to go to the laundry room to get my own pillows and blankets which I absolutely refused honestly .. so low class they did eventually bring them up after is stated no please bring them to the room. Management is aware of the false advertising and when I complained about the lack of cleaning service for the bedrooms it was then reported to me it needed to be requested the day prior. This place just says what they need to to get by. I am beyond disappointed for the cost and level of gross. The highlight of the trip was checking out of our 2 night stay. They need to figure out how to improve and take pride in the place or shut it down. No roaches or bed bugs as I looked thoroughly and bring a black light cause we travel a ton. Beds linen clean no pillow protectors over...
Read moreA fire alarm went off the 2nd night of our stay. Although a loud alarm went off in the hall, it was NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING, there was NO FLASHING LIGHT, NOR DID ANYONE FROM FRONT DESK or any other hotel employee come to our floor (only 3 floors in hotel) to give direction to ANY of the guests to evacuate. We didn't know if it was a false alarm, whether to evacuate, or ANY OTHER COMMUNICATIONS FROM HOTEL STAFF. We found out there WAS REAL SMOKE IN THE HOTEL. We followed other guests outside where there were fire dept personnel; again NO ONE made any effort to make any announcement or communicate ANYTHING to us, and the firemen also did not address us to say, "it's safe to return to your rooms." Just unbelievable that the staff did not put the safety of the guests first, or have any procedure in place for this kind of event. It was obvious they did not take our safety or need for direction seriously. Though the check-in front desk people were friendly enough and we were able to get things for our room, during the fire alarm NO ONE AT FRONT DESK PICKED UP PHONE. Cleanliness: The furniture (specifically desk/lamp by bed) had NOT BEEN DUSTED there was a fairly think coating of dust -- was not just a day or 2 since it had been dusted. There was also a hole in the wall where we entered our room, outside the bathroom, we had to call front desk to alert them it was not us who made the damage; getting to the elevator confusing, several people wandering around, no signage. No materials in room for finding local restaurants or attractions. We got in our car and drove miles to look for breakfast, only to find that the restaurant was actually ADJACENT to the hotel! There should be some signs at the front desk! We were initially only given a few towels and 2 pillows, the staff were friendly and helpful but not adequate to send up to our room, we went downstairs to get additional items. The AC unit in the room made no sense; we tried repeatedly to set for comfort but it seemed not to function correctly; we were either warm or cold. Our toilet seat came off and luckily front desk picked up because maintenance was about to leave; they fixed it while...
Read moreThis hotel is pretty great depending on what you need to do in the city. There's a pool with a hot tub, decent sized and clean rooms, and two restaurants attached to the hotel; one for breakfast (Stacks) and an evening restaurant (Volcano).
The staff was very friendly and accommodating and I have no complaints with our room. It was as you would expect from a Ramada-type hotel. The extra amenities gave it an extra boost in my opinion.
The location is right off the highway, which can be nice depending on why you're staying here. If you intend on hanging out in Portland then I might suggest closer to downtown. This hotel isn't located near anything within walking distance and the highway next to it is a toll you have to pay $1 to use every time. You can easily avoid this toll to go downtown though and the drive is only about 15 minutes.
There are a few restaurants in the area to drive to but most of the action is downtown. The attached restaurants are great additions for the most part. Stacks was reasonably priced and had some great breakfast diner food. From chicken and waffles to omelets, to eggs benedict - there is a lot to choose from (also lunch items). We never ate at Volcano because nothing really seemed appealing on the menu and the prices were pretty steep. We tried to order a pizza once but the phone listed on their google page wouldn't work. One time we went in there for a drink and it seemed fine. A fun atmosphere but it was absolutely dead at 10 pm on a Friday. There was one other older couple drinking some beers. I assume a lot of the issues are being attached to a hotel and being out of the way. It caters to an older adult crowd when it would probably do better if it was a sports bar or something more family-oriented with it being attached to a hotel. Maybe it was just an off day.
Overall, this hotel was fine. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly, price was reasonable for the area, and enough amenities to make it feel like you're getting a little more for you money. I would likely try to stay closer to downtown if visiting Portland but this is a fine alternative if you're on a tight budget or just...
