Big Fin Poke is a Hawaiian inspired restaurant with two locations in Maine and one location in Massachusetts. We visited the location in Westbrook, Maine. If you don't know what Poke is, Poke is diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or a main course and is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine. Many places offer cooked protein options like steak, chicken or shrimp so you don't have to eat raw fish. They have build your own bowls or pre made bowls with drinks and soups to add on. We like eating at poke places and some are better than others but this is one of those places that are better than the others. Good portions, lots of variety, reasonably priced and friendly staff in an open and inviting atmosphere. This location does not have indoor seating so everything is to go at the moment but they do have two tables outside for some outdoor seating options at least. Westbrook is lucky to have such a gem in their part of town so if you haven't had them before I would suggest trying then out!
My wife and I got build your own bowls. I got the yellow tail on a bed of mixed greens and my wife got half tuna and half salmon. My bowl had, seaweed salad, crab salad, corn, pickled ginger, kimchi, crispy onion and jalapenos with some sirracha ponzu and big fin shoyu. My wife had something similar. We also got miso soup. Usually when we go to places that offer Miso, it always seems to lack flavor or tastes watered down but this was not the case here! We actually really enjoyed their miso soup and it was piping hot. All the flavors in our bowls were really tasty and everything you would expect from a good poke place. I especially like how they offered drinks that were native to Hawaii but we didn't try them.
This place has plenty of options to create a bowl that anyone could enjoy and I don't have anything bad to say about the food, service, or atmosphere. The only small gripe I would have is that things can start to get expensive if you want more than the allowed toppings and mix ins for your bowl. I believe it was like .60 cents per extra item but they don't charge $1.50 for seaweed salad like OTHER bland poke places. (If you follow me you know what I'm talking about haha)

Read moreThe Force called... and it craved poké. I answered. Ordered takeout from Big Fin Poké, I did. Pickup? Faster than a pod race on Boonta Eve. No drama, no delays—just grab, go, and get your grub on.
🥢 The Bowls:
Tofu Bowl (Large): Brown rice, spicy tofu cubes, a garden’s worth of greens, pineapple diplomacy, and enough crunchy toppings to make a Sith weep. Creamy wasabi and spicy aioli brought the heat. Flavor balance? Strong, it was.
Gyudon Beef Bowl: Beefy, saucy, and built like a Jedi tank. Brown rice, kimchi, cucumbers, corn, and crispy bits for the win. Creamy wasabi on the side, for those who like to flirt with the dark side.
Fried Chicken Bowl: White rice, crispy chicken, sweet miso on the side (because control, a Jedi must have). Edamame, corn, pineapple—simple, clean, and satisfying. Like Yoda’s lunch after a long training session.
💸 Cost: Just over $50 credits for three full-size bowls of intergalactic deliciousness? Worth it, this is. Portions big enough to stun a bantha.
📦 Takeout Game: Sealed tight, sauce intact, zero spillage—these folks pack bowls like they’re prepping for hyperspace travel.
🌟 Final Verdict: Fresh, flavorful, and foolproof takeout. Big Fin Poké is the chosen one of fast-casual bowls. Whether you're plant-based, meat-craving, or just indecisive—there’s a combo here for every Jedi, Padawan, or hungry droid.

Read moreAwful experience. Came in this evening for a simple single order. After waiting nearly 15 mins while a group of 3 made a simplemorder into an overly complicated one it was my turn to place an order. Once the group was able to untangle the mess they had made with the cashier it was my turn to pay. I stood there patiently waiting to cash out while the cashier decided this was the appropriate time to tally up some menu items for comparison with God only knows. When finished she looks up at me with a puzzled look on her face like she couldn’t understand why a person would be standing in front of her at the cash register with a debit card in their hand. I had to tell her I was trying to cash out with her and it was then the manager approached to tell her the food set off to the side was for me. Only then was it apparent the previous group of 3 in front of me had been provided my meal. At no time was there any concern by the three staff members for this inconvenience, only trying to locate the group of 3 to recover my meal, which they had already begun to consume in the dining area. I lost my patience, left and not sure if I’ll be back.
This is unfortunate because I like their food and it had been a regular spot for me. Tonight’s staff was absolutely clueless, completely wasted my time and made no offers to...
