We travel quite a bit and my policy has always been to try to save money whenever & wherever I can when it comes to accommodations but I think I'm going to have to rethink that in the future. After spending a few days in Bar Harbor I had booked this hotel for 3 nights before heading home to MD but trust and believe that when we visit Bar Harbor next year I'll skip Portland completely. The clerks at the front desk were very nice so when they told me that they had put me in room 102 because it was by the door for our dog I was grateful, yeah WAS. Turns out this is the noisiest area of the hotel and I swear all hours of the day and night it sounded like a football team stomping up and down the steps and God forbid you try to walk out that door, you're instantly besieged with cigarette smoke even though signs clearly state that smoking is to be done away from the building. The trash and cigarette butt cans were overflowing the entire time we were there and I never saw any maintenance person taking care of the grounds. The sign on the door also clearly stated that the door automatically locks at 10:30 but that never happened. The vanity in the bathroom was disintegrating and there were so many cracks in the sink basin I'm surprised there wasn't a puddle on the floor. The door is "secured" with an old school chain, not very safe or sturdy and the walls and ceilings are paper thin, I could hear everything. On our 2nd day there all of a sudden the cable went out along with the internet and it did not come back on until after 1pm the next day. I went to the front desk to see about how they planned on compensating people for the inconvenience and Shay (the only good part about our stay was Shay, very competent and kept her cool while everyone was flipping out) came by our room that night to inform me I would receive a $30 credit. The longer we were there the more it started to seem like this hotel is used for housing homeless people, dirty, disgusting old man with morning wood proudly walking around outside for all to see then leering at everyone in the kitchen area a bit later and cars filled to the gills with personal belongings, this was clearly a lesson learned, you get what you pay for. Our entire last night of our vacation in Portland was spent doing nothing, the rain outside left us little option but to stay indoors doing absolutely nothing because of cable & internet being out. The 3 times I tried to get ice there was none and nearly every item in the vending machines was sold out. The next day the front desk couldn't even give me a receipt and I had to demand a handwritten one verifying we checked out a day early. Trust me, pinch your pennies elsewhere and opt for a non section 8 voucher taking, old, filthy hotel. Wyndham really needs to step up and just raze this place, its...
Read moreI give this hotel a 1 star not because the rooms are messy or gross or anything really to that effect. The reason is because I booked ahead a couple of days thru travelocity and prepaid for the hotel. I work a 12 hour shift get to the hotel and was told there were no reservation under my name. I was told I was perhaps at the wrong hotel and then I showed my itinerary but I guess perhaps the itinerary was wrong too or maybe they werent reading the same thing but I was defeinitly in the right spot. I asked what proves I booked the hotel and they said something about this long number. I asked where it would be such as the reciept? like where? I just wanted the room I was charged for because my card was already charged. No one at the front desk was helpful so I called Travelocity confused and annoyed as to why it was so hard to figure out what happened. So I talked to travelocity and I confirmed I did book the reservation and I was at the right hotel and I was indeed charged already I then overhear the front desk realize they made a mistake. They had given my room to someone with almost identical sounding name as me. My question is how did this happen since I am asked for ID each time? Is the person who checked this guest in not ask for their ID or did they glance at their ID and said all good? Eventually, I was found another hotel at Super 8's expense and travelocity did give me a coupon towards another hotel stay but it does not make up for the customer service I recieved tonight. Another topic which bothered me and what made me more angry they were upset that travelocity charged them a relocating fee. Hey travelocity didn't mess up, an employee at your Super 8 location did and definetly don't talk about your loss of my money in front of me when I lost time having to deal with an annoying and...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I really would. First issue right off the bat, was pissy dog spots all over the carpet ( if you’re pet friendly, common sense to invest in pet friendly floors) I had to buy pet carpet cleaner to mask because I already knew I wouldn’t potentially get a room in better conditions. I stayed here because my employer was covering it while I travel and it was the cheapest option; I got exactly what I paid for. The first week, an employee opened my door at 1:15 am with no communication or explanation. I knew it was an employee because I opened the door afterwards to see and I filed a report with the hotel in complete vain since nothing came of it. I was staying almost 3 weeks and on my last week, my key didn’t work so I went to the front desk ti reset and the guy in the front said there’s a man in my room. I thought it was a bad joke and disregarded it. Because if he thought that man was supposed to be there, he wouldnt feel compelled to tell me there was one. Low and behold, there was a drunk man laying in my bed with ALL OF MY BELONGINGS AND MY PET in the room!!! I was scared, I was furious, I was in utter shock. I called the cops and front desk didn’t take ANY accountability; all he said was he had a key. WHICH I NEVER GAVE HIM SO I NEVER UNDERSTOOD HIS POINT BY SAYING THIS, that is still the hotels fault for not double checking names or authorizing by contacting the name on file for the room!! Come to find out, he dug a key from the trash and said whatever room came to mind and it happened to be mine. I want to sue, I have ptsd. I would never imagine a place so unprofessional and life threatening. They deserve to be exposed for their lack of consideration for their customers well being. Nothing can make up for what I...
