The Paper Store — Local services in Westbrook

We’ve always loved The Paper Store. Usually we go to the mall, but in this occasion we went to Rock Row. Online they advertised a few Lily Pulitzer items that were on sale. The Westbrook store said they had 2 in stock. We tried to place an online order and pick it up there, but the purchase just kept being unsuccessful, so we decided to head there. When we advised about the online sale for The LP products. The manager (I believe) said “which website “, well the paper store, I responded. She grabbed the laptop cover and started discussing this with the other employees there and we could hear them as we browsed. “Is that Even the right print “, “It’s not coming up when it’s scanned”, “I don’t know… it’s up to you”. By this time I had pulled up the sale item on their website and showed her. The same lady came over to advise that they don’t usually honor the same as the online store. Even though this is where I’ve tried to purchase it from earlier for a pickup. She then proceeded to tell us several times that they are given the authority to either give or not give discounts. I asked well why wouldn’t you? Are proceeds to tell us “we are a store, and we want people to come in to shop “. I stated well not everyone is comfortable doing that during a pandemic. As if THIS had anything to do with the issue at hand!? Again she advises she has the authority to give the discount or not. It seems as though she wanted more thank a thank you for doing what any reasonable retailer would. We were then watched as we finished looking about. Like we were in some way trying to rip them off. My girlfriend was so excited to show me this store and spend her Christmas gift card money on a few of the items she had seen here a few days ago. The store itself is very nice and the products are great. The manager at this store is terrible. While checking out she was giving us attitude the whole time and we were not given the discount she had promised us. Her poor employee had to keep apologized for the manager. Overall we left very unhappy and when we looked back at the receipt while sitting in the parking lot we noticed we in fact still were not given the discount as promised. I do not...

Beautiful arranged and stocked store That being said the associates either make or break a store and I was disappointed that the staff were not very welcoming. After spending a good half hour in the store, not once was I greeted or asked if I needed anything. And upon checkout the girl was less than friendly and walked away the moment our transaction was done without muttering more than a few words.
