The Hilton garden inn Ontario sits in the middle of a large area surrounded by other hotels. I chose this hotel instead of the others as it was cheaper, frankly.

First, the free parking is ample and there is no shortage.

Second, the lobby is very clean and well appointed. When you walk in there is a seating area and some tables on the left and the small dining room/bar on the right. It is a bit dated but the entire building is a bit dated. I was told that everything is going to be renovated "soon" and this needs to be done, especially in the rooms which I will detail below.

Third, the elevators are oddly un-air conditioned and when you step in you may as well be stepping outside. It's a bit jarring going from the lobby floor to any other floor in the hotel.

Fourth, the room itself. I've included photos of the room and while it is very spacious, there are multitudes of cabinets that are completely and utterly unnecessary, and empty. There is a very large closet which is nice for people who intend to stay more than a night. There is a small, quite capable microwave, a decent sized mini fridge, and what I found to be a typical Keurig single serving setup.

There is one large chair, a good size TV which I did not use, and a desk with a very comfortable seat. There is adequate plugs available, each lamp has its own light button, and moving around the room is very easy given its size.

The air conditioning is very decent, you just have to make sure you hit the button on continuous so that it doesn't shut off when it reaches the temperature you want. The thermostat is on the wall near the bathroom and the air conditioner is on the outside wall so there can be quite a big gap in temperature differences.

Surrounding the air conditioner are curtains that you cannot fully close so when the sun comes up, you're up. They have a shear curtain in the middle but the blackout curtains on each side cannot be dragged across and are immobile. Frankly that was disappointing.

The bed and pillows were adequate. The bed was much too firm for my liking, the pillows were very good. One was a typical polyester fill and one felt more like a squishy down pillow. One negative is that the vetting felt rough. You know the kind where you have white bedding that has clearly been washed and extremely hot bleach water way too many times. The bed felt anything but luxurious and I can only barely call it comfortable. But if you like a firm bed you likely will have no problem.

Going towards the bathroom, the door did not close as I'm guessing the settling of the building cause the door to hit the door jamb at the top so there was no way to fully close the door to the bathroom. I've highlighted this in the photo uploaded as well.

Another negative is that the shower heads clearly are not regularly cleaned with vinegar or CLR, as you can tell by the photo, the calcium buildup is very substantial. Also it may be for liability reasons but the water does not get very hot at all. It's nice and warm, but I like a hot shower and this was anything but. Also it's not just a shower it is a bathtub with a curtain, which is indicative of the style of the time and hopefully when they do a remodel they will redo this entire bathroom. Oh, one last thing, the toilets flush terribly as others have mentioned. You have to hold the handle down all the way until the water actually leaves the bowl. The towels in the bathroom also have the same problem with roughness that the bedding has. It is clearly been washed in hot bleachy water way too many times and felt a bit more like sandpaper than I would have liked.

This room also came with a door to the room next to it so if you had two rooms together, you could open that middle room and share a larger space.

One thing I also noticed is that people who are walking on the floor above me sounded like they were stomping their feet the entire time. And it wasn't just above my room, I could hear people walking upstairs in the hallway. Very flimsy floor/ceiling.

Service at the front desk and breakfast bar...

My experience here was horrible. Upon checking in i was given a very bad attitude by the receptionist. I was asked what was my reason for staying there in a disrespectful inquisitive way that made me feel very unwelcomed. It was a Holiday weekend and i wanted to get a way from the everyday norm i was used to. My family and i looked forward to utilizing their indoor pool and jacuzzi. When we checked in our room my two small children explored and played around. A few minutes after my 5 year old comes and hands me a chewed on chicken bone that i assume was left there from the previous guest. I was in shock and in disbelief especially since its a pandemic and everything should be well cleaned and sanitized: when i contacted the front desk in regards to the uncleanliness i was advised someone would come and re clean the room. No one ever showed up. Our experience in the pool was horrific. My husband and i work really demanding jobs therefore we were looking forward to some relaxation and chill time in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was cold, no jets seemed to be on and the water seemed cloudy with no chlorine. We tried to adjust the settings to bring the jacuzzi to life but apparently it didnt work. Being that this was our main reason for booking the hotel we gave it a shot and went in. The water felt dirty and slimy and there was no heat, no jets absolutely nothing, Just dirty cold water. I then notified the front desk and was told id have to deal with it because their mechanic room is locked. My stay was for two days , so i asked for how long should I have to deal with it. The receptionists response was i dont know there is nobody here to help. I then asked to speak to upper management and was told they weren't available. I was left with no choice but to make the best out of my time there. My youngest daughter began getting bumps and rashes on her face from being in the jacuzzi. The next day we made another attempt to see if the jacuzzi could be adjusted and this time the receptionist was alot more friendlier but insisted on the same thing that there was nothing they could do. My experience here was awful from the customer service down to cleanliness of this hotel. I was never given any alternatives or answers for the issues at this hotel not even a sincere apology for the...

We normally stay at the Hilton for visiting family and my husband uses for business trips. We've always booked our room with breakfast included. Which is clearly stated on my email reservation. When I checked in they first said it wasn't included until I showed them my email and then they said Continental breakfast only. This location was the only one that had the breakfast level depending on your Hilton club status. The breakfast is set-up for buffet style self-serve but they insist on serving you what they call a continental breakfast given to you by waitress. You could only have buffet style if you have the highest level membership...this is not indicated at the time of booking and no other Hilton Garden inn did this to us. Then there was our room...the rooms look worn out, dingy and old. The bathroom has mold, paint peeling from the door and the wall paper is just old with stains. See my pictures. And...the bottles of water the hotel in usually puts in refrigerator was also not stocked or even offered. We had to ask for them and she marked it in her computer. This Hilton Garden site was very disappointing, I felt like they're nickel and diming you. There were other families from our group that booked they're stay here had paid for their breakfast but had to turn around and pay it again at the hotel. Also on the morning we were supposed to check out (our reservation said 12 noon) my husband went to go get a luggage cart (about 11:30 am) when he came back to the room his room key card had already been deactivated...and so was mine!! We hadn't...

Quality hotel. Clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Check in was later than expected even with Honors, but snacks and beer in the sitting area of the lobby made the wait easier. Beds are comfortable and the A/C works great. Kept my room at 65 all week! Like most hotels due to Covid, you have to request cleaning. The staff was quick to respond and took care of it the same day. Close to many restaurants (walking distance). My go-to hotel for work in Fontana.

Horrible, they charged us for a suite and gave us a standard. Still charging sutie price. Then stated they are out of suites. Mind you, we prepaid days before for this available room. That's not it, to top it off the adjustment control on the bed they are so proud of is broken. Worst ever and we travel a lot. I won't tell you the charge but it was well over two hundred well over. Looks like blood on the towel.
